  • The 2023 BMW iX M60 is BMW's first fully electric mid-sized SUV. In this video we conduct a long distance range test, a 0-60 test and get deep into the details of this luxury EV that's pointing the way to Munich's electric future. Find out what I really think of BMW's foray into a luxury SUV without an engine.
    This vehicle has an MSRP with destination fee of $109,770

    I don't get the complaints about the size of the grill. There are a ton of cars with large grills since the beginning of automobiles. Lexus are larger grilled and nobody has a problem with it.

    Nice review. Hills and speed are the EV's worst nightmare. My friend's Model 3PP can't even make it 240mi when he drives 90mph, add in a couple Idaho mountain passes.
    Just add timing gear, and your test would be complete.

      @updlate4756 Год назад +4

      @@JohnnyKReviews He's testing the least efficient version of the iX, wasn't on a loop course, and didn't drive at a consistent highway speed. He even launched it and had some fun on the twisties. We don't know the outside temperature or his HVAC settings. Out of Spec's constant 70 mph test managed 339 miles of range with this same spec of iX m60, but their test of the AWD Wind EV6 (274 mile EPA) got 254 miles of range, albeit at a cooler outdoor temperature. Tom from IEVs tested the GT line and got 245 miles of range at a warmer outdoor temperature than Out of Spec, but his test of the base iX 50 returned 345 miles of range.
      See a difference yet?
      The EV6 does have faster peak charging... when it can actually hit it. The problem is the EV6's charging curve has shown to be all over the place during tests, and it doesn't always get the max charging rate as some testers have noticed. AFAIK, the EV6 / Ioniq 5 haven't gotten the charger preconditioning software update yet, but it should help... I guess we'll see.
      The same price to features argument has been made all through time when comparing low/mid tier vehicles to luxury vehicles. The fact is, you can't do a 1-to-1 cost / value comparison. The iX is significantly larger than the EV6 (11" longer, 3" wider, and 6" taller), and it's definitely made to a higher quality and higher luxury level. Differences? How about the nicer adaptive air suspension and more compliant ride, lower road noise, 4 wheel steering, laser lights, high quality seat material and interior trim, the B&W sound system, soft close doors, radiant heating, and higher tow weight. The iX has lower volume production (more expensive to produce) from a higher end brand (BMW vs Kia) which adds a level of exclusivity that often comes at a high price premium.
      I will give it to Kia/Hyundai for implementing V2L though.
      Sure, you can always buy a cheaper car with similar features, and sure, the upcharge on luxury vehicles is pretty obscene most of the time... but to a point, you do still get what you pay for, and wealthy people often are willing to pay a premium. Otherwise no one would buy luxury vehicles.
      What are you basing the EV6 having better hands free driving on...? The BMW system has tested well. The EV6 is essentially Kia's mass market EV. In a battle of odd looking vehicles, I would say that the BMW is the more attractive of the two, and has the look and sleekness of an expensive luxury vehicle.
      I'd personally opt for the xDrive50 trim with better range / efficiency, and at a sizeable discount to the m60.

      @@JohnnyKReviews iX has higher level of customization than EV6. Also iX uses high ends materials (crystal control buttons, olive leave based skin on dashbord, Kashmir seat) The iX "long range" has longer range than any EV6 models. The ride quality on the iX is on another level compared to EV6.
      Like mentioned two different type of cars.

      to each his own, this design is more luxury and soft ride, whereas the Hummer is on the other side of the spectrum with off road capabilities.. the steering wheel has a design similar to the c8 corvette, I actually like it because it doesnt block the instrument cluster as much as a round steering wheel would..
