As much as i have enjoyed all of your videos, i think this one is the best that you have ever produced! Your " realness" & honesty about a part of our bodies that as you stated was taboo to talk about, is so needed for all of us to hear. Look at how many lives you have already touched! As a retired OB-GYN nurse, i have assisted in so many of these procedures,it is, unfortunately, more common than one would think. I applaud you for bring light to this very important issue.
And kudos to your mom, for pushing you for this appointment!

I have to potentially get a LLETZ procedure after waiting and seeing for 6 months. But i'm terrified of all the reports and medical studies about the LLETZ causing sexual dysfunction aka no desire, no drive, pain, incapable of orgasm or satisfaction, losing of sensitivity inside/clit. What's your experience of this?

Sophie, you’re reaching 14,000 people, even if only half of them are women (which I’m sure there’s more) thats 7,000 women whose lives you could change by being an advocate for women’s health! Good on you 🎉 👏🏼
I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this. I started having smear tests at 16 because my aunt had cervical cancer. In my twenties I started having abnormal cells and had them at every test (every 6 months) till I was around 28. I can happily tell you I haven’t had an abnormal pap since then and I’m 37. I’ve also had a surgery to remove scar tissue from a ‘colposcopy gone wrong’ and I’ve successfully had a little girl since (I had three kiddos before that too).
Hope everything goes well for you on the rest of this journey!
And to those reading who are putting off testing, I will reiterate Sophie’s words - go get a test!
My aunt didn’t and she died after an ugly 8 year battle with cancer. A 15 min test is worth preventing that!

🫶🏼 Thank you, Victoria, for your honest comment. Reading comments like this is slowly helping me change my mindset 'that my life is over' when it comes to having children. If anything, I have done the best, and god forbid it does change in the C word, I will find it early and will be in the best hands.
I am also sorry to hear about your Aunt and her long 8-year battle. 🤍

Thank you, Sophie, for encouraging other people to go for the C screening examinations. In Germany, both gynaecological and urological examinations for women and men are covered by health insurance. Skin screenings are also subsidised, as are internal (stomach) check-ups. You only have one life, so we recommend everyone to go for the C test. Everyone is allowed to show their feelings. We wish you all the best Sophie.

Thank you for sharing your story Sophie. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in October. It was shocking because we have no family history of cancer and she is perfectly healthy and no symptoms. To all the women: please do your mammogram and pap smear every year. Don't neglect it. Unfortunately many diseases related to women such as cervical or breast cancer don't have any signs or symptoms until it gets to advanced stages which is why preventive screening is so important. I keep you in my prayers sophie and please keep my sister in your prayers as well

This video is so important - and a true gift to all women! We all need to begin getting mammograms and paps at the recommended ages, and then keep following through with them every year. Thank you for sharing your full story. I'm cheering for you and sending positive vibes your way. Oh Wow Sophie, thank you so much for doing this video (and being so brave about it) I took smear tests as a practice nurse for 20 years in the NHS (Lancashire UK) The hardest demographic to reach is the younger women- this is known by the NHS screening service. I think you would make a great ambassador for cervical screening. It makes a huge difference which we see on the ground (Eg when poor Jade Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer we were inundated with ladies- fantastic!) I am so glad to hear you're getting great care and treatment. Try to stay positive (as much as you can !)

Sweet Sophie, hugs to you. Thank you for talking about your experience. It’s scary and deeply personal when your put yourself out there. Anytime someone tells you your fertility, let alone your life could be affected, it’s terrifying! I commented when you had your last procedure. We are all afraid of pain, embarrassment, uncomfortable situations, but it’s so important that we stay on top of the simple health stuff, so it doesn’t turn in to major invasive procedures. I found out I had cervical cancer after waking up from a hysterectomy at 44 for severe uterine fibroids. I had gone for my Pap tests and somehow it did not show on tests. My doctor said if i hadn’t had the hysterectomy, I probably would have not known until it was too late for any treatment. I’m 48 now and have had to continue having pap type tests for 5 years to clear me. I don’t have a cervix but it can spread to your vagina, so that has to be checked. I was lucky! You sharing your experience will definitely save a life. The more women’s health issues are talked about in real life conversations, the more we are willing to listen. It sounds like you have amazing support and care and you’re looking after your health. It sounds like a kick in the teeth when you do everything right and it reoccurs, but when your body is healthy you’re ready to face these things, and your body can heal so much faster. Long speech, sorry! Big hugs girl!

Please, please ladies, get your Pap smear tests done yearly. From age 20 it is so very important. I did my annual test from age 18 due to gynae issues and was horrified when I found out my Mom had never had one done! She finally had one when she was in her 50’s and was called back as there was some concern. By the grace of God, it turned out to be something not serious but from there she went annually.

Well done Sophie ❤ took so much courage to speak up about this subject. Just recently had my test at the age of 48. Everyone go for your smear test. It’s so important like Sophie says for your health and well-being. The part I can relate to Sophie is I injured my back whilst shopping in 2010 as a result of that, I had to have a subtotal hysterectomy which due to the damage in my spine man I was unable to carry any further pregnancies so as you can imagine being told you may never have any further kids I get that part of how you’re feeling I found it soul destroying only being able to have one child. Which I’m truly thankful for.
Sending love and prayers for you always, and hope that nothing more will come of this one day you will have your own children. Be so proud of how far you’ve come, and the fact that you may have helped save countless young girls from HPV is a job. Well done in my eyes.

Thank you for sharing. I need to research and hear people’s stories to help me cope with things. I was told in April that I have CIN3 cells. I had a colposcopy the other day and being able to watch your video and others before, helped me to know what was coming. It wasn’t pleasant but I did it. As soon as she started to look she said things have progressed a bit which I don’t know what she meant and hope she didn’t mean more than cin3. She took biopsies and said she will be in contact but that I will definitely need treatment and I will be AWAKE 🙈 I’ve never been under GA so as long as I’m not in a lot of pain I’m ok with being awake. She told me she will be ‘making a loop’ to remove the top part so I assume that like the LETTZ. It’s all a bit scary at the minute as I’m a single mum of 3 and only 37 so I just hope it’s nothing serious

Omg, I have been crying with you Sophie... I have had 1 test so far in my life several years ago, but I will speak to my GP to arrange another one. THANK YOU! It is so easy to neglect our health when living in the world where everything is happening so fast.
You are so strong, went through exams knowing what the doctor said, spent the Christmas on your own in Dubai and then decided to not get depressed and quit on the idea of spending your birthday with your loved ones and simply enjoying your life! I hope you realize it.

Watched your vlog last night.. with a tear or two along with you 😔 Been a subscriber for some time. I live in Scotland and fly to Asia via emirates yearly. I’d just wanted you to know your vlogs have been really inspirational for me. You’ve given me the strength to get up and change my life. I’ve lost 34lb with another 14lb to my goal weight. I’m setting up my own business just now and planning to relocate part of the year to Asia. Thanks for being a fantastic person full of positivity. Your parents and family should be very proud. Wishing you all the best and I’m sure you will kick your health issues into the long grass soon. Sending you hugs 🫶🏻

I had this when I was about 18. I literally thought I was going to die it hurt so bad!! I was awake when they cut that huge chunk out of me and my bf was with me at the time. I thought he was gonna pass out. But I have 2 kids 16 an 13. I had this procedure about a year or 2 before I got pregnant. I've heard it can affect you having kids but obviously I had 2 pretty much right after

I admire you 🥹 I’m going through this too, just mine was CIN 1… but I got the LEEP too… maybe one more little… Now I kind of regret it, if it was little… It was very hard mentally for me, and when I listen to stories, I feel like I’m not alone… because I need to go back in 3 months. We need to take care, try to be more positive, eat healthy, exercise, take vitamins. My doctor gave me 10 days of a month Isoprinosine to repeat 3 months.. (I don't feel very okay with that treatment, but si need to take it..) I heard about AHCC mushrooms and also Turkey tail. I hope we can get through this as soon as possible! Greetings from Europe!

I had an abnormal pap. I had to wait 8 weeks for the colposcopy appointment. At the 7th week mark my doctors office called to cancel and reschedule me for another 8 weeks. I told them no way that’s too far away and sure enough they were able to book me for 2 weeks. So then I got the colposcopy and a week later I was called by a nurse. She said my results are in and the doctor wants to schedule a call with me. The soonest date they had was 2 weeks out. So I’m still waiting to hear what the results are and I’ve been a nervous wreck ever since.
