My favourite berserker mode is the one accidentally activated at the end of the fight so you get 30 or so seconds of invincible rage fuelled exit finding and item collection
90% of No More Heroes.
That was doom in a nutshell for me. Clear out the massive room full of enemies, *then* find berserk or quad damage
There tons of rage/Berserk modes in games, Scarface has one too. And like the one i posted early, they can be exploited.

When you berserk at a boss and he just crumbles, so you either start looting in a red tinted world or wait. (Skyrim orc problems)

To explain Ripper Mode:
Raiden's actual name is Jack, and when he was a child soldier people called him "Jack The Ripper" in reference to the killer due to how vicious he was at the time.
The game actually has different hair colors which give you buffs, and one of the hairs ( I think brown ) gives you infinite FC ( which drains as you are in Ripper Mode ). You can already see where this is going. Put on that hair color and now you can stay in Ripper Mode for as long as you’d like

Krieg's Acton Skill in Borderlands 2
Krieg basically goes ape Sh*t and slaughters everything infront of him and heals for everykill he makes and in some cases will even Transform into a Mutant Badass Psycho

That's one of my favorite Action Skills in the game.
I'd also like to nominate Salvador and his Gunzerking. He goes on a bullet storm rampage, picking up a second gun and filling every enemy in the nearby vicinity with 500 CCs of boollet.

"Having Chill"? Doomguy? DOOMGUY?!? He is *LITERALLY TOO ANGRY TO STAY DEAD*, and you ask if he's got CHILL?

I'm well aware, I'm just pointing out specifically, their wording for Doomguy's entry. He has, canonically died at LEAST twice by this point (Room full of Barons of Hell in one of the original games, and prior to the start of 2016), only to ressurrect to continue the fight, WITHOUT being turned into a Zombie. And given that not only is he ripping zombies and demons apart with his bare hands, but it's also quite literally in his job description to kill everything from Hell (as well as prudent caution via lessons learned from previous titles), it's safe to say he NEVER HAD ANY CHILL.
TL;DR - I agree with the entry, not the phrasing.
Well Doom Guy has plenty of chill when it comes to fellow humans, except when they try to siphon some sort of energy from Hell, because he knows exactly how that song and dance goes.
By the time he gets to them, with one semi-exception, they've all turned into Zombies, demons, or been killed by said Zombies/Demons... The Exception being the Professor who discovered Argent Energy, being he now has a Robot Body and I expect him to get His in Eternal.
Plus on the rare occasion he does meet a human who is neither dead, dying, demonized or zombified, most of them know that he has been wreaking havoc in Hell for centuries, so they are rightly (but unnecessarily) scared shitless of him.
Can't believe you left out Borderland' 2's Krieg, "I'M THE CONDUCTOR OF THE POP TRAAAAAAIN!!!" Buzzaxe Rampage definitely has no chill.

My favorite berserker mode was with Brick in Boderlands one. His constant laughter as we run and punch people to death is bone chilling.

One of the creepiest ones I've played (and yet one of my favorites) comes from the equally creepy Alice: Madness Returns. That Hysteria mode... Scary.

Made extra terrifying by the grim reality in which nothing actually bleeds in the mind palace of wonderland but entering her powered form drenches her blade and eyes in a flowing blood as if some bits of reality are leaking into her mind and suddenly the lines boardering wonderland and real life become blurred.
I always imagined she went on a real life murder spree.
@@ghostderazgriz Oh wow. I had thought of this game since it's one of the few I have that has a berserk mode, but I kind of wondered (pun not intended, but fully embraced) if it was *too* chill. But then, she's not confined to an asylum's quarters, she's going about London! ...Then again, the guard didn't think she was a danger to anyone but herself, so it's possible that her violent actions only happened in her head, and no worse than her curses of insects (possibly the Caterpillar, almost certainly the wasps) and "the National Railway" (more likely the Infernal Train) were unleashed by her.

Dark Eco Jak in Jak 2 certainly qualifies, what with his soulless eyes and his...dark electricity (not quite sure how else to describe it).

Sure, it's more of a representation of Alice's fractured psyche, but it functions the same as most rage modes in games, and is pretty terrifying to boot.
Yeah, but once Alice goes Bloody Mary it's not exactly something you want to look at, especially if the only sounds she makes are primal horror screams

Actually fun fact: There used to be a forth member in the Outside Xbox crew. But they pissed off Jane. She just looked at them and they exploded.. So they all agreed to never talk about it again. Moral of the story: When Jane tells you her coffee order You best remember it!

alice madness returns had a berserk mode that made you look like some possessed demonic wizard’s chess piece... not to mention you get teeth from the enemies

It's probably my favourite Easter egg of all time, partly because of how obscure it is partly because it was discovered in a release day stream by the streamer it was referencing.
No mention of Alice: Madness Returns' Hysteria mode? She makes a sound like an aztec death whistle as the screen goes greyscale, becomes invincible, and then proceeds to blast through the entire screen while her weapons become partially sentient and she bleeds from her eyes.

Dark Jak from Jak II and III has to count right? I mean, after you collect enough Dark Echo and activate Jak foregoes guns and starts tearing into enemies with his newly grown claws. If that isn't going berserk I don't know what is.
Alice madness returns hysteria mode feels so brutal. Plus you can wear a robe that makes it permanent. A FLESH robe.
How about Splinter Cell Conviction? When Sam finds out that his best friend betrayed him(faking his daughter's death), he doesnt escape silently through the night like he always does, instead, while escaping, the game automatically marks enemies and allows you to execute them without filling up a meter.
I know it was only at the end of a level but still, that rage moment has always stayed in my mind.
Dmc5 Dante's Sin Devil Trigger? He triggers it by stabbing a huge sword in his chest. After that he looks like a demonic god with 4 wings, a big sword and pyromancy.
Sparda mode in 2 is pretty legit, too, activated at minimal health.
Not to mention the fact that putting him in sword stance causes him to summon a bunch of extra swords to fight on his behalf.
It's not a Berserk mode, Dante doesn't get any angrier.
The only DMC one could possibly be Dante's Majin Form that's in DMC2 as it's activated at red health and gives you an INSANE buff

I don't know if it's necessarily a berserk mode, but I've always thought that werewolf mode in Skyrim is a good way to go from fighting an enemy to annihilating a whole army in seconds.

A2’s berserk mode from Nier: Automata, turns you into a super fast super strong killing machine, that constantly drains your own HP
No mention of American McGee's Alice or even Madness Returns? In the first game, you come across a floating red bottle which turns you into a literal demon. In the sequel she has a berserk mode as well but I cant recall what it is called but her dress turns all white as well as her skin and her eyes have Blood flowing from them.

Metroid Prime 3, Samus's Phazon Overload. It's not as furious as some of the entries you mentioned, but it does have one distinct difference: If you don't discharge all of your Phazon, you explode!
Prepare for a strongly worded email about this list and expect some hecking colourful language in it.
If it's not just player characters then Brutes going berserk in Halo 2, there's even a skull that makes them explode if you take too long to kill them.

Calamity mod has two beserk modes: rage and adrenaline, both with -100 chill, and they can both be on at the same time for ridiculous attacks with your weapons made with the carcasses of your enemies.
Rage is filled by taking damage, and adrenaline fill automatically in boss fights but depletes when you take damage.
Kudos to Mike for being able to hold it together at the "rage induced expanding flesh" bit. He is a better man than many, indeed.
Fits in nicely with the cockpit joke in one of the boss videos. No idea how Ellen (at least I think is was her) kept it together there.

What? No Darksiders? It’s a staple of the series that you get a monstrous super form. In Darksiders 2, you literally become the Grim Reaper! There is no mercy, only Death.
A crazy scary berserk-esq mode is “hysteria” mode in Alice the Madness Returns. Everything goes black and white except for Alice who is now covered in blood and is screaaaaaming. It’s terrifying and awesome 💀

Until Dob, Slayer mode bard was the most dangerous (and amazing) bard ever.
I always get weird looks when I say I really like Raiden, but that’s because my first step into the Metal Gear rabbithole was Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, so how could I not like him? I’m too young to have played MGS2 back when it came out, so I never knew that he was some poor schmuck cartwheeling around naked. I always have to explain that I got familiar with Platinum Games fueled cyborg-ninja-Raiden and loved every second of it.
Same as I like DMC: Devil May Cry. It just was my first DMC, that’s it. I’ve since played the others, except not DMC5 yet, and sure, now the reboot looks a bit odd in comparison and I prefer the main series games. Tbh I still love the reboot, I simply love the other games just a bit more. I found DMC: Devil May Cry because I liked the Combichrist soundtrack, and it gets me so pumped up every time that I’ll happily overlook all of the reboot’s flaws and love it anyway.
...I liked baby Raiden in MGS2. It was nice to get an opportunity to see Snake from the outside.
nalinea18 You couldn’t possibly get that many strange looks, not so many people hate him now. Ever since MGS4 the hate died down a lot and with Rising many started to really like him. First experience I got with him was MGS4 and I think he is a terrific character like so many others these days.
What about Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning. Reckoning Mode.
Prince of Persia Ravages of Time is technically also a beserker mode.
Travis in both No More Heroes games has SEVERAL of them with his Dark Side Modes where he one-hit kills everything in sight. Highlights include:
- Going Super Saiyan
- Everything going monochrome while he slow walks across the stage and everyone inches away from him in absolute terror
- Turning into an actual tiger.
Ciri at the very end of the Witcher 3? Super dashing around and one hit slashing your way through hoards of enemies was very satisfying and, despite the White Frost, completely lacking in chill.
What happened with the Hysteria mode from Alice Madness Returns?
That activates the moment she becomes too injured and blood came out from her eyes.
"A demon called The Evil One". Oh, so it's that one demon who's evil. Gotcha, Splatterhouse, really narrowed that down.
I'd say Release the Beast for Krieg in Borderlands 2 would definitely be considered a Berserk Mode.
I always think about Darksiders when War would enter his Chaos form and go absolutely nuts on enemies
Fury fits the Berserker title a little better on that, but War isn't far behind
My favourite rage mode is the one in Kingdoms of Amalor, Called Reckoning mode. Where time is literally slowed and your damaged is Cranked by 5 times. And to top it all. The brutal finisher you can proform on almost any ememy in this mode. Its so damaging the finisher. Every other enemy knocked down also dies instantly
Valkyr's Hysteria in Warframe stood out to me. In a game where most player characters are stoically silent, her screaming is unsettling to say the least, not to mention the ability to punch into other dimensions.
How about any of Vincent Valentine's limit breaks from FFVII? Use one & he literally turns into an uncontrollable monster for the rest of the battle.

A little known fact about the Doom Slayer is that even though he can eviscerate anything that crosses his path with his bare hands he instead chooses to use guns 99% of the time to give his enemies a fighting chance. Otherwise he'd never feel the exhilaration that comes from slaying an opponent that actually has a chance of defeating him even if it only provides a minuscule challenge either way that you cut it or in the Doom Slayer's case eviscerate it limb from limb.
Quick fact about ripper mode is that it is Jack's AKA Rosen's former personality from when he was a kid soldier remerging after he turns off his pain reducer
what about Hysteria mode from Alice: madness returns? you can only get it at low health (unless you have the DLC dresses) and it turns Alice into a murderous power house and practically kills everything in one hit.

Xian's special ability from Dead Island. You pull out a little tiny 2 inch blade that looks really unimposing. Then you use it to delimb even the biggest enemies in 2 seconds flat.
How did you miss the most disturbing berserk of them all? Punisher from his own video game in the early 2000s. He'd abandon guns, pulls out knives and begin to perform the most horrific kills (of it's era) while the sounds of his family dying in the background played on loop. It's burned into my brain.
That Punisher game on original Xbox had a great Punishment mode. Now that game didn't get backwards compatible, perhaps they can remaster it

I think my favorite rage mode will always be Dark Jak from Jak 2 and 3. Channeling Eco to physically change your whole body because you're angry is WAYYYYYY over the top.
Berserker Rage from the X-Men Origins Wolverine Uncaged Edition

I am calm. What makes you think I'm angry?
How about Hypermode, from Metroid Prime 3? We know that Samus is typically portrayed in a rather calm fashion, but she does have bouts of anger, too (most prominently in moments involving a particular space dragon). Hypermode, however, actually somewhat subverts things. It's not so much that Samus herself is going berserk, but the fuel for this particular, temporary power up is actively trying to take over her mind to turn her into a second Dark Samus.
Rampage has V.E.R.N. as well where any monster goes into overdrive can then fly and shoot projectiles.
Kingdom Hearts also has the recurring Rage Mode, which when use correctly can kill some of the biggest enemies with ease, and when used wrong can literally kill Sora.
Borderlands - Brick's special. His minutes worth of screaming is what I replaced the shaman's berserk sound effect in WoW
When I started this I was like "they have to put the berserk mode from paint the town red."
After the video I was saying this "What? How the heck did they not include that."
In paint the town red the berserk mode literally makes people's heads explode and can make them just meaty little pieces on the floor.
Also, Devil May Cry, with DMC5 having two flavours. Nero's DT (which you first activate by flipping the bird in the final boss fight), and Dante's SIN DT, which is just a berserker monster all on it's own.
I'm unsure this counts, but Avatar of Wrath for the druid in Btd6. Increases in attack speed, and decreases in chill for each bloon on screen. And the 5th and final upgrade of a path that mainly focuses on massive amounts of rage-induced attack speed. Even more attack speed if you spam xx4 druids around the avatar of Wrath.

The Panzer Dragoon series on the Sega Saturn is worthy of mention here. The Berserker Rage attack caused your dragon to launch 100 lock on lasers, obliterating everything stupid enough to be in the way.

In honor of borderlands 3 coming out I'm shocked you didnt mention Brick from borderlands 1. Full on berserk mode and he became the bandit king and laughed when you kicked them all. No chill there
I would say Krieg's Buzz Axe Rampage would fit into this category pretty well.

I was scrolling through to see if anyone would mention Anti-Form, he goes absolutely feral in that form and it's awesome. Not as impressive late game tho, but still cool nonetheless
@Dillon Howington it's not called rage form tho? In KH2 one of his drive forms is that heartless form called Anti-Form.
Durge from 2003 clone wars. He got tortured to the point of deformation, stabbed in the chest, cut in pieces, shot by a firing squad, hit by a missile launcher, exploded from the inside out, beheaded, cut in half, and more. Because he was unable to die by normal means, that just pissed him off and caused him to go berserk. He would grow over twice his normal size and break out of his armor, revealing his true muscular form. The fight would end when either his foes were dead or he was so badly damaged that he had to retreat to regenerate his body. Even though this was not a video game I just thought I should mention it.
Ryoki from Senran Kagura Estival Versus goes pretty ballistic in her rage mode. She's dead, and she triggers it by touching her own halo, in which she proceeds to lose her s**t and go berserk, throw her normal weapons away and start bludgeoning people with her own coffin, which also has a gatling gun in it as well as missiles, making her ballistic state all the more literal. She's also invincible during the duration of it, except in the final story mission where you have to fight against her while she's in permanent rage mode.
