Absolutely. Bunch of privileged little babies who are there to get fucked up and act like frat boys. Anyone who’s actually been through some real shit like the stuff Mike talks about would know enough to shut the fuck up and listen, allow him to let it out. If it got to be too much for anyone, I’m sure the exits were clearly marked.

This man has lived a life full of tragedies but still managed to be the success that he is. Mike has experienced drug and alcohol addiction, lost a lot of friends in life, been divorced, parents divorced as a kid, had a childhood far from normal...I really appreciate how he takes those life experiences and vents out in the form of music, he is truly an artist and I love this man

@christopherryan8732 You aren't alone, neither is Fat Mike. Punk Rock soothed my broken, black soul when it came out in the 70s. I got involved in the underground Punk scene of the 80s & 90s in San Francisco. How I lived til 62 is baffling! I lived fast, as a Punk, didn't die young, go figure...Now I'm old and Punk still soothes this broken, old, fucked up body & blackest heart of mine. 🔥 FTW🔥

    • @alicia_737

For real! I love that you can see the shame and anger and regret in his face and in his demeanor, and despite the crowd acting like a bunch of judgemental twats who are not being receptive to him bearing his soul, he continues to let it out with no filter and no regard for how people might see him after. It was like a confession that he did for himself, for the jaded people who would see it, the people from the stories he told, and just for the sake of being like “har har, cokie the clown is so hilarious right? You think there’s no depth to what I’m up here doing? I’m just making fun of myself for being a mess and it’s all in good fun? Give me a few hours to tell you some of the shit I’ve seen and you will leave changed”

    • @alicia_737

@@christopherryan8732I get it man. I think a lot about how I was not made for this world, whether I’m not strong enough or I’d just be better off if I was straight up stupid. Shit does suck and it’s really hard just to function the way most people do, like I’ll never understand how normal people can do their 9-5 shit every day and be cool with it. Then I see something like this where most people are too shocked or unfamiliar with tragedy to know how to respond and I’m like, “I could talk to Fat Mike for days about these things” idk. I’m not built for life the way most people live it, and I really don’t feel a connection to most people period. But somehow I feel a connection and a sense of understanding for this dude in the clown suit who I’ve never even met, maybe because he definitely doesn’t seem to live the way most people do either, but he’s here. He’s not just living, he’s a success and an icon and a genius who makes art for people like me and you. Keep the faith and keep your head up man, and trust me when I tell you you’re not alone in how you feel.

I can't believe this was almost 10 years ago....
Possibly the greatest punk rock performance of all time.
A guy tells stories about doing nothing about witnessing a rape, killing his mom, being indifferent to his father dying, and finishes by making the crowd believing it to be the *all about them*.
Fat Mike allowing them to think they drank his piss for a couple of months while saying "I don't know what the big deal is, urine is totally sterile."
SXSw was furious about it. Too funny.
    Completely epic performance.
Ecen though it's just Mike, I think this is the peak of NoFX. It is goi g to be pretty hard to ever top this.

People have to realize this isn't a NOFX show, it's his ulter ego, and he gets real as fuck and spills his guts out as Cokie and people should be hanging on his every word, appreciating this, not being disrespectful. Listen to the new Cokie 7 inch. It's the most important, intense unveiling of his personal life. Love you Mike Burkett!

it looks like an experiment from a punk show mixed with the promotion of the NOFX book that came out shortly afterwards. only a visionary genius who really lives and believes the punk culture, could give birth to a similar product that visibly left the crowd displaced. Everybody there to shout and laugh (even) forcibly as if they were at a typical nofx show where , instead , Mike performing is quite totally comic. Pretty touching Mike

  • @TranzparentMethods

If only these "punks" would give a minute to hear what Mike had to say, instead of screaming and WOOOOing. That's the difference between "punks" today and "punks" who somehow were lost in the ether.. Somehow we lost what it was to be human... Now "punks" like screaming and dissonant chords vs. melodic chords that actually made sense. Now the kids that like "punk" music like "CHUG CHUG, dissonant chord, CHUG, THUMP, THUMP... It's like as if Pop Punk took a holiday and now we're left with a whole generation that doesn't understand melody. All they care about is how loud it is. That may make me sound old, but honestly. It's much more generic. Twenty One Pilots are selling tickets for no less than 80 dollars a pop. Seconds of Summer have people writing lyrics for them... I forget the the number, but WHAT THE FUCK?!! NOFX is still putting out great albums. Fat Mike is a FUCKING mastermind. "72 Hookers"? "Secret Society"? That's the way punk should be. Offensive and kind of secret.

They still live an easy life at home with mom & dad. Or in the dorm.Soft, sheltered & safe.
I'm glad I saw all the great bands when they played bars, warehouses & keggers. Back before the status quo fucks discovered them.
