This truck inspired me to put a Chopocobra in my 6.2, I ended up going with a 2800 stall converter, my truck rips way harder now with the cam, gonna do 3.73 gears and smaller tires this winter, excited to have a race truck. Glad yours has been just as reliable as mine (I love chomper)
You're definitely spot on with the gearing for these trucks. One thing I will add that is killing your power is having a stock converter in it. I have a 2000 silverado 1500 4x4 that's built to the hilt. It came from the factory with 4.10s, luckily. I have a FTI 2800 stall converter in my 700whp capable Performabuilt 4l60e. The motor is a stock crank, bored .30 over block with flat top pistons running 10.5-1 compression, Texas Speed stage 4 truck cam and a set of nasty 220cc PRC heads with a TBSS intake manifold. Im running 1 3/4" long tube headers with 3" dual exhaust with an x-pipe into 2 Borla XR1's. My rig made 340whp on the dyno through 33s and a worn out 200k mile transfer case being very conservative on the tune. My truck rips but I can watch the fuel guage move when I stomp it. Don't expect to get good fuel economy with a built truck lol

That is not the case with my truck. With a different cam it changes your stock engine vacuum pressure which then alters your brake performance. With a cam that size I researched and found out I needed a 2800-3000 stall converter to ensure my brakes would work properly. Ended up getting a built 4l60e with stage 3 shift kit and corvette servo and the 3000 stall converter from Mad Dog Transmissions out of Alpharetta Georgia. Shifts pretty firm but DEFINITELY has wayyyy more performance along with all the other upgrades identical to “Chomper”.

Got a bone stock gmt900 in Highschool, i cammed it, put on headers/exhuast, changed the converter for a 2k stall. With the 6l80 I can run 4.30 gears with 22's and low pros and still run 85 mph below 2300. Also dorman makes a aluminum coolant cross over pipe for the one thats leaking on yours. Took me 15 minutes to change it form hood open to closed

I have a 08 2500 Chevy with a BTR stage 3 cam with a billet 2800 converter. Totally changed the power on it. Love it, drive it daily and yes I too get comments at the gas station.
I said my 60e wasn’t ever giving me problems. Later that year I got to experience the fun on going through 3 rebuilds before I decided to swap it with an 80e
Definitely a good tuner is required. The shop that installed TSP stage 4 in my L83 tuned it decent, but I started stalling out in cold weather. Hit up Matt Sanford to re tune the truck and it runs so much better. I was actually looking at buying something else because of the tune.
My 2008 gmc sierra has been cammed for about the years and I have never drove my truck and not loved driving it after the car I am running the btr truck Norris and it has been great

I have a 05 Yukon/ converted to Tahoe, Going to be taking engine and trans out for proper cleaning/ re gasket and add the tsp 224 r cam kit with supporting mods, keep the 706s but clean them up and maybe port them, I have a corsa muffler no cats going to be ordering the speed engineering headers 1” 3/4 and y pipe I want to do the l59 injectors so I can run e85 as well oh and my 4l60 is built up to a stage two and going to be adding 40k cooler and a 3200 stall converter hopefully it will rip, it’s a 373 with posi trac will be changing that out for a Detroit tru trac😅🙏🏼💯
I have camed my truck is the twin to chopper. I went with the truck Norris cam. Did valve springs push rods lifters the whole 9 yards been pretty good to me so far and I put long two headers on it with 2 1/2 inch pipe into a dual in dual out, black widow, angry housewife, muffler she is loud lol
It’s crazy how much cheaper the Chevy/gmc platform is compared to the ram side. Just in my cam kit alone was 2k and stall was 1600. That’s 3600$ just in camming the truck. Maybe I should have bought a Chevy 😂
I did a cam on my truck on my 99 gmt800 5.3 and 2 months later it blew up so what I did was a 6.0 swap with the cam and everything and it’s a whole different truck

my 99 silverado round body has unknown mods pushes through the brakes and stalls alot 4x4 and it rips but recently dropped 2 lifters so i can see whats done to it when i pull the motor in a few weeks

Gotta 2007 suburban with the stage 3 tsp done by LSX and man it’s night and day I’m currently on 6 in pro comp lift 24x12x35s and at first the truck would scream to hold 75mph going up hill on interstates (in cruise control) but now it’s not that bad looking to upgrade my gears also not sure on the specs I want though. If someone can give me an idea I’d highly appreciate it !!

I think since he always has big tires on his I think a 2800-3000 stall and 4.56s would be the move for his truck

I had an issue on a Silverado where it wouldn’t start sometimes, I changed the starter relay and never had any issues again.

Vmax is the one thats was ment to be procharged since its 6.0 factory and 4wd
Why not go with a higher stall converter even if its the 2600 trailblazer one and fairly cheap.. I run a circle D 3000 in mine

Make sure you get a good tune in it. I have a L83 with TSP Stage 4 and almost wanted to sell it because the tune wasn't exactly right.

Might have some bad teeth on the flywheel, or may need to shim the started to mesh better. I’d start there.

Long tube headers kill starters, heat wrap your headers by the starter.
If you replace the starter, put in a GM gen V Camaro 6.2L starter( with pigtail) and OEM heat shield with attachment bolts. Problems solved
