  • May all our days be blessed with lifts from Aditi Rao Hydari and lots of dahi wadas.
    Ajeeb Daastaans is an anthology of four strangely contrasting stories which delve into fractured relationships and unexplored spaces. The stories set in varied milieus, explore jealousy, entitlement, prejudices and toxicity, which are often entangled within the heart of their relationships. Each story also takes you on a journey where one would struggle with the moral dilemma of what’s right and what’s wrong, as the lines between them get blurred.
    Catch Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jaideep Ahlawat, Armaan Ralhan, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Abhishek Banerjee, Konkana Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shefali Shah and Manav Kaul in Ajeeb Daastaans, now streaming, only on Netflix.

    This is how you transform yourself into the character. Just look at the body language of Konkana. Wow... Great actor. It's so disheartening and disappointing her caliber isn't being utilized properly in Hindi cinema. I mean she deserve to be celebrated like a Shabhana Azmi or Late Smitha patil in the 80ies.

    Damn the seggsual tension between konkana & aditi is so convincing & hawt. If you're a girl who's into girls, or just even curious, you gotta watch it. It doesnt sexualize a woman being attracted to another, common in indian series. Nor does it overly romanticize it that makes it corny. Perfect raw representation of gay attraction mingled w heteronormative inhibitions.
    An amazing story that within minutes captures the core intricasies of caste based bigotry, hetero-normativity, marital norms, the grey area between friendship and attraction, and comprises made in an arranged marriage.
    Both are very well rounded characters, the plot is very nuanced in subjects it deals w. The performances are bang on. The casting was perfect they took two the of the hottest and most talented actresses. what can i even say about neeraj's directorial expertise, nailed it like he did in masaan.

      @@rishabhjindal9062 no. but i feel the writer has on purpose created ambiguity in certain moments because she too in some moments is very affectionate towards konkana, which draws in konkana's charac. if you'll watch you'll understand. there are clear reasons why aditi's charac cannot be at least consciously attracted to konkana's. but then again someone can also call it aditi's charac just being friendly. also yk in a heteronormative society most people don't even perceive the possibility of same-sex attraction. either way its a good watch.

      She just believed Konkana’s character to be a lower human. That she should be happy in whatever little she is given. That she doesn’t deserve all the love and support that the upper caste people enjoy. It’s so ingrained in so many people that they don’t even see what’s wrong with it.

      @@radhikarb7047 i felt like it's more of her prejudices coming in the way of her good nature. Starting from her inability to accept her own sexuality and her willingness to be heartbroken and sad (Kavita) than accepting her "sach". Why? Because log kya kahenge, her environment isn't accepting so she chooses to submit to it. Even her caste based prejudice. She puts the things her family and in laws might think before her own thoughts. Like a puppet.
      Sometimes her own opinions pop through like when she goes to Bharti after the cake incident and tries to rekindle things indirectly by asking her to repeat the conversation about accepting yourself.
      But bharti has already accepted who she is and used the situation to her advantage.

    • @radhikarb7047
      @radhikarb7047 3 года назад +24

      @@roshn.i yes. The person who is genuinely free is bharthi actually, she doesnt have anybody to answer to and has accepted her truth. Its harder for aditi's character to do so. Thats right. And at the end , she is stuck in it becuase of her family😅 . She could have escaped from it iif only she was a bit more strong enough. We can see it that she gets manipulated to have a child by konkona only when she displays her prejudice to konkona and doesnt hide it. The cake cutting scene , and scene where her hands left konkona's when she gets to know she is dalit displays that. That one decision changes her circumstances. If she was bit more understanding and pure konkona could have helped her own up her truth. But that was not to be.

      @@gonegirl3954 i got ur point. That maybe netflix isnt comfortable saying lovers. Which may be true. But this particular scene shows them deciding to become best friends. So that's why i don't have a problem with the title

    Looks like its a cool thing to make movies on caste discrimination and lesbians. So the director thought out of the box and mixed up both to bring us this masterpiece.
