they need to add muzzle flash, flashlight shadows, camp fire shadows and animations like the metro series where you wipe your mask off when it rains. those small details makes the game so much more immersive
Loved Metro: Exodus, but it was a personal intimate story. Not really meant for just “Surviving” more meant to progress through the “open worlds” If stalker could adopt Metros UI/UX it’d be a perfect survival horror open world game.

I haven't seen animations this good since Red Orchestra 2 and Killing Floor. It's almost redeeming given how cursed the animations and some models were in the previous titles.
I wish they would have given some more love to the mutants too, though. The mutants have barely been given refreshed textures... as a Ukrainian, I can confirm - in fact, everyone who completed secondary education (11th grade in schools/lyceums)- had mandatory pre-war training at the end of their studies, which usually lasted from 1 to 2 years . Technically, it was an additional subject that included methods of conducting military operations, self-defense, medicine, military affairs, and weapons. In particular, it included the disassembly and assembly of Kalashnikov assault rifles (for a while), loading the magazine with cartridges, quickly putting on a gas mask, and shooting at a distance. By the way, I can confirm that the disassembly of the ac is quite simple, and true as in the video. And also, I want to add that such pre-war training was in schools not only in cities, but also in urban-type villages, and quite often, if possible, in ordinary villages.😊

I hate that it's established here that Skif could disassemble and reassemble an AK74 with in seconds, but he can't repair or even do minor maintenance on any of his weapons himself. He has to pay a fortune for a technician to do it for him instead.
This is why I wished there is some sort of gunsmith mechanic in the game, like salvaging parts from broken guns (since they're not sellable anyway) or do field maintenance with a consumable such as repair kit or cleaning kit, at least for keeping the gun run much longer
My biggest gripe with the game is this. I come back to town after a long slog of side jobs and looting, sell off all my stolen items, make 20k rubles, and then have to spend 19k rubles repairing my gear. It's economically intolerable. Just let me fix my own guns! What's the point of all the broken guns laying around if not to salvage parts from them?!
@@kelseywhitlatch173 Just like it always was. This game isn't distilation of everything from around the industry, it's just a continuation of the previous games in the series. As far as they go, Stalker 2 is an improvement in almost every way. Back in the day you had to fix those bugs yourself with console, cause you couldn't just wait for a patch.
@@BIGESTbladeno bro I had at least 3 bugs with stashes protected by invisible wall, AI soothing me and detecting me behind walls, money glitch and I can add more if you want, remember no excuse you paid for a finished product stop defending them (from an old stalker player that fixed quest with console command and community help)
it's to make up for the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R's "we just copied a picture from a magazine we have no idea how anything works" gun design iconic makarov with ejection port on both sides
The only missing part of the AK’s assembly/disassembly process is sliding off the bolt from the carrier, but it’s still impressive how mostly accurate it is.
@@Kanist Seems like a muzzle brake with a bayonet mount, though. Not something you can remove without tools, so if it comes to field stripping the AK on the spot with your bare hands alone… I’d say my point still stands.
Damm... I still remember this from the military. I did the Finnish conscript service about five years ago and back then the defence forces used the RK62 assault rifle, which is basicly a version of the AK-47. It disassembles excactly like in this cutscene
@judsongaiden9878 they distributed those to some, like the standby unit. Most were given the older model. Mine was made in the 70s if I remember correctly
@@stampsu The Galil was based on the Rk.62, so I can only assume that the '62 is good enough that it can be considered timeless like the AK. Sort of a "hot rod" AK, right?
I wish those flickering textures would stop showing off 😂 edit: thank god they fixed it in that first big patch. Now the biggest problem: enemies spawning right in front of you like the original game
This scene bugged out or didn't work for me because he asked me these questions and didn't disassemble the AKM... then after the cutscene the gun just kind of fell from the ceiling onto the table... Just another of the zones anomalies.
you probably didnt install the game on your main SSD. a lot of reported issue are due to people installing the game on external hard drive. people have PC and dont even know how to use it.
No partial-reload still irks me a little though, like you'll flick out the AK magazine, get interrupted, then when you reload again you restart the animation all over again flicking out the magazine you'd apparently just discarded? 🤨 Also wish there was more of a weapons parts maintenance system as introduced with mods (i forget which one lol)
@@judsongaiden9878it was popularized with MW2. It was a departure from the very stiff generic mag in mag out, so it became popular and is on every AK in every game these days.
Just add weapon parts and maintenance as a mod. It's one thing that I didn't really enjoy in anomaly. In call of chernobyl it was always the technicians job to repair and modify your gear. In anomaly I found it nearly impossible to find the correct parts and toolkits. It was more of a pain in the ass than a feature. Thus I'd keep it as a mod in S2.
@@patrolmostwanted My gripe with Anomaly's way of handling that stuff is that you can disassemble weapons, but you can't reassemble them, and barrels and such are treated like they're interchangeable just based on caliber. IRL, you can't install a Nikonov barrel on a Kalash.
When loading a fresh full magazine like 30 rounders, you can reload the magazine after chambering a round to see 31 loaded, 30 in the mag 1 in the chamber.
Yeah it's immersion breaking honestly. You're stranded in the zone, trying to survive and keep to smallest supplies, yet you throw out a mag every time you reload... just makes no sense. They could add two reload modes if they wanted these anims
i adore the korshunov scene but the dialog seems corny asf for some reason even though its really good this goes for all of stalker 2 english acting ngl
When I was 10, I found an AK back in Montenegro dug in the ground. Pulled it out, cleaned, learned how to disassemble and maintain it. Best memories I have with my dad.
I wish they would have had the money to go with their own in house engine instead of Unreal Engine 5. Like the version of STALKER 2 that got scrapped long ago that was going to be on a second generation of the X-ray engine (the engine the OG games use). Any game that uses UE 5 now I just expect it to be a stuttering mess in terms of performance. SH 2 Remake has traversal stutter, though for me nowhere near as bad as STALKER 2. I've decided to hold off for a few patches still. I don't expect performance will get significantly better (would love to be wrong), just because it's UE 5. Main thing I'm waiting for to be improved is the "A-life" system (or lack of). Right now the game just has a small bubble around the player it will randomly spawn enemies in. Sometimes right in front of your face. I honestly think that's why there are no binoculars in the game (despite dataminers finding references to them). It would highlight even more how empty the open world is outside of a small area around the player. Fired up STALKER COP for a bit and within ~30 mins I hear a large pack of dogs in the far distance, I get out my binoculars and see them all heading in one direction. Because they are actually migrating from one part of the zone to another. Something you'll never see in STALKER 2 in it's current state at least. Also really wish the players flashlight cast shadows (like it did in the OG games), and campfires (which also did in the OG games).
There are a lot more features: - Feeding the SPAS 12, you see no round in the chamber right before chambering one; directly afterwards you can see there are no rounds left in the mag before feeding the first one. After that you will always see the back of a shotgun round in the mag. - Silenced guns are not really "silent", they are just way more difficult to make out. Using them still creates some noise, way louder (and more realistic) than in other games. - The SVD keeps the chamber open when the mag is empty. Reloading actually shows you tilting the gun, releasing the lock. - Changing the ammunition type with any not-vertical-mag-fed shotgun triggers an awesome reload to empty exactly the amount of rounds still in the gun before loading the right ones.
The attention to detail in the game is phenomenal, I especially love the sound design, walking over broken glass makes lots of noise, hearing trees swaying and creaking, the sound of bullet casings falling and then listening to them roll around on diff surfaces ect. ect.
Yes the sound design is fantastic. Like the way the beeping of your detector changes based on the room you are in or if you are outdoors etc in real time.
fr fr. these people have no idea. I have been loving the game, 30 hours in only 2 crashes that lost me basically no progress and alot more of the zone to explore yet. The only thing that makes 2 feel lack luster at times is how incredibly indepth the anomaly community has made the mod.
In fact I think the best part is the guitar chord hand placement is so correct that blew my mind. It feels like I can spin up the game just to play a song in there. 🤣
Magazine thing also applies to dropped ones. If you reload with an empty magazine, the one you dropped on the ground is empty. But if you left bullets in while reloading you can see the bullets on the mag on the ground.
Probably a nod to previous games. All guns in it had their ejection port on the left side. Most likely to avoid copyright. Or just because flying shells are cool
Its also because the makers of MP5 the company H&K have patented/trademarked the silhouette of MP5 so it can cause lawsuit problems. From my knowledge they have already sued other companies for similar usage of their product which normally wouldn't be a problem as you can just change the name but not for MP5 anymore.
What I wanted: fewer bugs, better faction system, more quests, A-life expansion. What I got. Gun pr0n, high end PC requirements, more bugs and a season pass. Just yay. I might get it on sale in a couple of years.
Another detail: in some guns(for sure AKs) you have for example 30/30 bullets(29 in mag, 1 in bolt). If you press(or hold, I don’t remember) reload button, Skif will fill magazine with 30th bullet and you’ll get 31/29 (30 in mag, 1 in bolt), as it should be irl.
This first cutscene is where it is really impressive but after that it just common these days that they are giving attention on gun's feeding system and the magazine you can check these same thing in COD Mobile
Fun fact - the skill to assemble-disassemble AK is a common knowledge in Ukraine. We used to do it in school on "Pre-enlistment Training of Youth" (Допрозовна підготовка юнаків) class. We also were trained to throw grenades (training grenades, lol), shoot from pneumatic rifles and even had an event where we went through rugged terrain with out backpacks.
this is great and all but the one that I'm betting everyone actually noticed was that the revolver cylinder does not represent the remaining bullets at all
I've also a civilian AK105 and they have done a great job with the rifle assembly. It's done and sounds correctly as the real gun, even the hammer if you pull the trigger sounds correct.
I love the fact that you can have that one extra round after reload as it is already lock and loaded in the chamber. You're good to go, but if you run completely dry it's not only just 30 rounds again after you load the mag but takes extra slide pull to chamber that first round.
You can see rounds in the dropped magazine if your character reloads with ammo remaining, or with only 1 round in the chamber and an empty mag. Only happens with some guns ex. UDP because some reload animations have Skif re-index the partially empty mags :)
So fun fact, if you give the scanner to the ward is the lesser zone and exit east as the ward asks, you don't get this gun. You meet the colonel earlier and he's kinda chill with you
Something else I found out about the bullets, they're actually physical bullets. You can see the buckshot flying at you if someone shoots you from a distance.
The best thing in this cutscene is that after he finally gives you this gun it's completely broken with 0% durability left
He does say (paraphrased) fix the problem
if you sell out to ward this happens but he takes the gun back if you withold the info about the monolith pda
I didn't get the gun at all. :C

The fact that they even made animations for every weapon, and animations for different weapon mods.... 🤯
@@Swiftduck00 the hell you blabbing about?

as a Ukrainian, I can confirm - in fact, everyone who completed secondary education (11th grade in schools/lyceums)- had mandatory pre-war training at the end of their studies, which usually lasted from 1 to 2 years .

My biggest gripe with the game is this. I come back to town after a long slog of side jobs and looting, sell off all my stolen items, make 20k rubles, and then have to spend 19k rubles repairing my gear. It's economically intolerable. Damm... I still remember this from the military. I did the Finnish conscript service about five years ago and back then the defence forces used the RK62 assault rifle, which is basicly a version of the AK-47. It disassembles excactly like in this cutscene
They still use the Rk.62? What about the Rk.95?
@judsongaiden9878 they distributed those to some, like the standby unit. Most were given the older model. Mine was made in the 70s if I remember correctly
@@stampsu The Galil was based on the Rk.62, so I can only assume that the '62 is good enough that it can be considered timeless like the AK. Sort of a "hot rod" AK, right?

No partial-reload still irks me a little though, like you'll flick out the AK magazine, get interrupted, then when you reload again you restart the animation all over again flicking out the magazine you'd apparently just discarded? 🤨
Also wish there was more of a weapons parts maintenance system as introduced with mods (i forget which one lol)
Those mag-ditching reload animations irritate me. Why is that such a fad nowadays?!
@@judsongaiden9878 I think it was Battlefield 3 that really made me appreciate a good partial-reload lol 👌
When loading a fresh full magazine like 30 rounders, you can reload the magazine after chambering a round to see 31 loaded, 30 in the mag 1 in the chamber.

Yeah it is kinda lame that the character doesn't retain mags when ammo costs an arm and a leg. Just breaks immersion a little.
Yeah it's immersion breaking honestly. You're stranded in the zone, trying to survive and keep to smallest supplies, yet you throw out a mag every time you reload... just makes no sense. They could add two reload modes if they wanted these anims

Ngl that disassembly scene is the main reason I used that same ak for the rest of the game
When I was 10, I found an AK back in Montenegro dug in the ground. Pulled it out, cleaned, learned how to disassemble and maintain it. Best memories I have with my dad.
Now imagine if they've put so much effort into optimizing the game.
People need to stop acting like firearms are rocket science. They are one of the easiest to understand mechanisms out there
They spent more time making lore accurate guns and less time optimizing the actual game, nice.
That's Eurojank!
the gun model isn't even correct.
It’s the small details that go a long way. Bravo 👏
There are a lot more features:
- Feeding the SPAS 12, you see no round in the chamber right before chambering one; directly afterwards you can see there are no rounds left in the mag before feeding the first one.
- Changing the ammunition type with any not-vertical-mag-fed shotgun triggers an awesome reload to empty exactly the amount of rounds still in the gun before loading the right ones.
the best thing about this game is that it absolutely does not run unless you own a 7000 dollar computer
Would be better if i could get through a single mission without it glitching out and not letting me complete said mission...
STALKER 2 developers are showing that they are having fun making and improving this game, as game development should be.
you can actually see into the star chamber as well, that detail is crazy
The attention to detail in the game is phenomenal, I especially love the sound design, walking over broken glass makes lots of noise, hearing trees swaying and creaking, the sound of bullet casings falling and then listening to them roll around on diff surfaces ect. ect.
Yes the sound design is fantastic. Like the way the beeping of your detector changes based on the room you are in or if you are outdoors etc in real time.
All this realism, and it still doesn't get penetration physics right.

Fr, whole gun handling felt better in Metro Exodus.
You can tell who played the older stalker games from who didn't by seeing who complains about bugs the most
fr fr. these people have no idea. I have been loving the game, 30 hours in only 2 crashes that lost me basically no progress and alot more of the zone to explore yet. The only thing that makes 2 feel lack luster at times is how incredibly indepth the anomaly community has made the mod.
So the older games being quite buggy justifies this one being absolute hell?
In fact I think the best part is the guitar chord hand placement is so correct that blew my mind. It feels like I can spin up the game just to play a song in there. 🤣
how about npc placement?
Magazine thing also applies to dropped ones. If you reload with an empty magazine, the one you dropped on the ground is empty. But if you left bullets in while reloading you can see the bullets on the mag on the ground.
Too bad the mp5 has the ejection port on the left side.
Probably a nod to previous games. All guns in it had their ejection port on the left side. Most likely to avoid copyright. Or just because flying shells are cool
@@sprayandpray6976It's most likely because the Viper 5 is the most famous gun among the OG trilogy

The details of assembling AK are shown very cool, I once went on an excursion with the class to a military unit, there they allowed us to assemble AK)

As an AK nerd this scene scratched that special place in my monkey brain. I love tearing down and putting my AK back together it's like therapy to me.
even the slap of dust cover is spot on, without a move like that you'll assemble the AK, but incorrectly, it will come off after 1 bolt cycle
It would’ve been so cool if that was interactive and we had to pick what pieces to put on one by one
As someone who has been in the military and taken my rifle apart more times than i can count i appreciate the amount of detail but into the weapons
Jonathan will LOVE these details, I doubt he can even find anything!
Fun fact - the skill to assemble-disassemble AK is a common knowledge in Ukraine. We used to do it in school on "Pre-enlistment Training of Youth" (Допрозовна підготовка юнаків) class. We also were trained to throw grenades (training grenades, lol), shoot from pneumatic rifles and even had an event where we went through rugged terrain with out backpacks.
as someone who has an AK I was happy they took it apart in that cutscene
this is great and all but the one that I'm betting everyone actually noticed was that the revolver cylinder does not represent the remaining bullets at all
I've also a civilian AK105 and they have done a great job with the rifle assembly. It's done and sounds correctly as the real gun, even the hammer if you pull the trigger sounds correct.
You know what's crazy? They even animated the correct technique for putting the dust cover back on the AK
You meet the colonel earlier and he's kinda chill with you
Yeah we talking about how expended catridges are ejected by the top of the barrel?
Something else I found out about the bullets, they're actually physical bullets. You can see the buckshot flying at you if someone shoots you from a distance.
Some weapons fire while the safety is on, on others the cartridge ejection window is not on the right side
The only thing that keeps me playing this game is weapon sounds.
Exactly reason why I love Stalker Anomaly, EFP, Gamma and will love Stalker 2. Just waiting for magazine management mod.
