This don’t makes me think a lot of our relationship where when it gets bad I feel like we both subconsciously are waiting for the other to kill themself. To me this song is descriptive of my family. I had a malignant Narcissist for a Father and a very codependent Mother, both deceased now. They produced four siblings, me and my two sisters and brother, who didn't turn out right. My youngest sister got POA of my Dad when he had dementia and had the will made over to her and barred us from trying to get in and save his animals and they all died, ran off with Dad, denied us visitation to see him, etc. My brother had a high paying job, got fired, and then went nuts, and currently he is in a mental hospital for psychosis. My other sister has body dysmorphia. She thinks she is ugly when she is beautiful. I have major depression and I now live in Chronic pain and I am getting worse each year and I always thought I would live a long life because I had endurance and I had hope. But I don't have hope anymore. I do not. So I am ready for the funeral for me or one or us because I feel it coming soon.

I saw band of horses open for Pearl Jam before I came to love them. I arrived in the middle of their set and didn't really pay that much attention. The song definitely stood out when I heard it but I didn't really emotionally connect with it. I did not know what I missed till about a year later.

I'm having a really rough time. I fell out of a 5 year relationship with someone I hoped to spend my life with. Some moments you don't know how hurt you are until something pokes your spirit. I moved across the country for this person, and now I am moving back home. I'm scared and I was watching HIMYM this song came on and it reminded me of the last 5 years. I believe this song is about loss. That everything we have in life will eventually be lost. No matter how hard we hold on to something or someone we´ll eventually lose them. Even the ideas we have of someone or something will be lost, because we´ll never know their truth, their true nature as we´re only limited to the perception we have about them, never knowing what they´re truly about. So there´s no purpose on holding on to them because they´ll eventually be lost. And therefore no hope either. And I believe that´s the beauty of it, to understand that we have nothing in life but simply our will. To live, to accept, to be and exist, doing everything we can with whatever we have, to finally leave, alone, in peace and empty-handed, leaving everything and nothing behind. Very beautiful.

My Life As Liz brought me here. This is such an amazing song.
To me this song is descriptive of my family. I had a malignant Narcissist for a Father and a very codependent Mother, both deceased now. They produced four siblings, me and my two sisters and brother, who didn't turn out right. My youngest sister got POA of my Dad when he had dementia and had the will made over to her and barred us from trying to get in and save his animals and they all died, ran off with Dad, denied us visitation to see him, etc. My brother had a high paying job, got fired, and then went nuts, and currently he is in a mental hospital for psychosis. My other sister has body dysmorphia. She thinks she is ugly when she is beautiful. I have major depression and I now live in Chronic pain and I am getting worse each year and I always thought I would live a long life because I had endurance and I had hope. But I don't have hope anymore. I do not. So I am ready for the funeral for me or one or us because I feel it coming soon.

I saw band of horses open for Pearl Jam before I came to love them. I arrived in the middle of their set and didn't really pay that much attention. The song definitely stood out when I heard it but I didn't really emotionally connect with it. I did not know what I missed till about a year later.
