A few weeks ago i brought myself my first motorbike, a Honda XR125.
www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-re...
The plan is to learn how to ride manual bikes so i can hire them when i continue my travels.
Previously i was rather car mechanically minded so i know if you buy a second hand motor its always a good idea to at least service it yourself asap so you know its good and i am glad i did with this.
I videoed myself doing this and seeing its been a while since i've posted any videos or used Final Cut Pro to make one i thought why not do a basic service guide for my XR125.
You can expect more videos to come as now the speedo has stopped working on the bike too.
Enjoy. - Хобби
Just a little tip for anyone doing a oil change on a motorbike, always remove the dipstick before u remove the oil drain plug as it will break the air lock and the oil will flow out faster
Too late.But thanks anyway
Any chance of a video on how to replace leaking fork seals or where to find a video? Thanks alot.
Nice video, very helpful. Got mine on saturday, 2003 model. The only problem with it was me getting sick the very next day and not being able to ride it.🤣I know it was 8 years ago but where did you get the skid plate from? Mine doesn't have it but i kinda want one.
Do this need top/bottom end rebuilds like dirtbikes?

Great video.
I found an xr 125 2012 with 50000km on it it still looks pretty good tho, do you recommande it even with high km ?
When i owned mine all i heard is that they have bomb proof engines, so i guess high km's is not a problem. As long as its cheap and you get it checked over.
Hello, did the oil nut came loose well with that socket wrench? I have the same bike and tried to tighten the chain but the rear axle nut wont budge with the tools that came with the bike, so I'm thinking about buying a decent socket wrench tomorrow?
yes always work with decent tools to do the job easily
I found one with 26k kilometeres. Do you think its good as a second hand bike?
Yes for sure, Hondas are very strong engines.
Hey i have the same bike i did a big Service on it and after putting it back togheter it wont Start the headlights and turn signals are working but it doesen't start do you have any ideas what can be the problem ?
+xXILu4Si0NnXx Sorry in the delay replying. Have you managed to fix it?
+Phil JC Yes i had to reload the battery.
My battery was dead after a long time on the garage sitting. Well, I changed the oil, new spark plug DPR9 from NGK for high performance, muffler full painting, side shrouds rubber coated, new brake pads, front brake disk painting... And finally didn't start because of the battery. Bummer...I had to do a cold start with my car battery.
hey, nice video. how did you install the safety layer under the motorcycle?
Hi, and thanks. I am sorry i dont know about the under tray, the bike came with it on.
Phil JC a OK thank you
I had the same question to ask Phil. My XR doesn't have the engine bottom tray either, and I'm thinking in DIY one in aluminium sheet.
im wondering where is the kick start?
It is an electric starter only.
Hi mate where did you get your skid plate from ?
It came with the bike mate, i think its standard.
Some dont have it, especially second hand.
how fast is the xr after service? km/h
I've tracked on my iPhone at 65mph, a little under 100km/h. That might of been a bit down hill aided.
aye with the wind at your back too
Phil JC That's 105km/h
What's the insurance cost on this bike?
For me it was £120 per year but it depends on many different factors. You best calling an insurance company.
Cheers will do
How do you like the bike? Is it underpowered for some forest runs?
I liked the bike very much but never took it off roading myself. I think it would certainly manage ok on some well used forest tracks.
I own one....still have it after 3 years done about 12000km ...I mostly ride on the farms and such. This year i decided to do a local enduro race...bike made it up the same hills just like the rich spoiled kids brand new KTM's.I drove it there i weigh about 70kg i get 110 to 120kph fully tucked. She will wheelie in 1st gear lots of gas and pull hard, but revs out quick.Second gear up hill with one leg down you can pull her up.The bike always starts never gave any problems so far....i am young still and i fitted a slip on exhaust and i like to bang the top of the limiter (aggressive pops and bangs) sounds good and keeps cars wandering around away with a quick rev!
@@chandlerrohl1014 What exhaust did u put on it? I have the same bike
@@zucc0f827 mine was made from a local dude... Normal stainless steel slip on... If you go to my Instagram chandler_rhl you can hear and see what I do with the bike
@@zucc0f827 I also went from the stock jet 100 main to a 108... Even more power second gear no problem
Can you adjust the suspension on these?
Thomas J From memory no you can not. Unless anyone knows differently.
Phil JC Thanks a lot, it could be fun to do a fork conversion on one of these, but it sucks they are so hard to find in Spain. Can you buy them new anywhere anymore? I looked online and seems it’s only in Asia
@@thomasj5722 south africa and I believe UK/AUSTRALIA
I got one, only 4k km!!! for 1200$ and 2015 model..... SO STOKED
Congratulations, look after it and enjoy it.
How tall are you?
178cm
thank you
