    As a beginner rider I rode the slightly bigger engined XR150 around northern Vietnam. Absolutely brilliant machine. Handled everything very well.

    It’s so cool seeing someone ride the bike I want around the roads I know! I turn 17 in less than a month so I’ve been scouring eBay relentlessly for this bike! Thank you for the video!

    Great vid! thanks for the review of the bike. I live just below the hill you started on (Gilwern Hill) - quite a surprise when I stumbled on your vid! Great to see some of the local scenery. Keep posting, very enjoyable vid. All the best and stay safe.

    Actually this bike isn't powerful, it's slow, very basic (you can't see how much fuel you have) tires of this size made for off road and on road aren't easy to find, front light is terrible, the seat is actually not that high, if you're tall that's not gonna be easy for your back, BUUUUT....... This is the best bike ever. That was my first motorcycle, I had so much fun on it, in my eyes it was a technological miracle that this little thing could carry me anywhere I wanted for so cheap. I had bought it for 800 euros, 30 000 kilometers, it was a good deal. I have so many good memories with that bike that I just had to buy it again, which I did recently. Sadly, now that I have gotten used of much bigger bikes, now that I have been spoiled, this little one feels boring. I can't find the same vibe again, but still I'm very happy to have it for short rides... and I forgot to say this bike is unbelievably reliable. It's just incredible. It can run even with no oil or very few.

    I got one when I first start riding. I got 50mph down hill with wind behind me. I commuted to work on it. Did so many miles over 12 months. It just spent more time in the garage under warranty than myself riding. Good luck with test and welcome to the family. PS Honda hornet 650 or Suzuki gsx650f are good first big capacity bikes.

    I just put a deposit on a new '22 red XR150L today. Not my first bike, but it's my first Philippines motorcycle. I'm 6'3" and I fit great. Good price ($1820 USD), big 12L tank, rear rack, good enough suspension for the bad roads here, wide comfortable seat. I like that I'm not passing myself every few seconds, most bikes are scooters and step throughs here. I get it next week..

      @@SW-rides thanks, going to drive close to home first to adapt to the chaos of traffic here. I will have to outlaw it home from the dealer as I don't have a Philippines driving license yet. Fortunately there is stuff I can ride to that is very close and we have an e-trike (sloooooow) that has been conditioning me to the driving here. I'm working on my permanent visa, so getting a license will be added as a priority.

    My first bike, over 30yrs ago, was a 1986 Honda XL125RF- this bike's grandad. Was perfect for tearing up the New Forest... I currently have a Honda VTX1800S cruiser and a 125 tiny old school monkey bike, so quite polar opposites! I'm thinking of another little XL for light off road duties around the same area you're filming as I'm just down the road now. I used to get an indicated 80mph out of mine, so a realistic 72/75 I'd say? I got a Yammy DT125R after which would blow it away with the valve opened up, but nowhere near as reliable. How I miss old C464DVF.....

    Good video. I've just bought an xr125 for my first bike. Thinking about getting an exhaust for it like you have, yours sounds great, do you know which size silencer it is? As there's a few options, and I don't want to make it obnoxiously loud lol

    • @SW-rides
      @SW-rides  3 месяца назад

      Hi, when I bought it it was off the road a few years after failing an MOT. Needed about £400 worth of parts (mainly a new swing arm) so it wasn't exactly the best example!

  • @deano386
    @deano386 2 дня назад

    Just the bike im looking at. Like you never ridden before the cbt this month, been off road but thats different. Just done my theory today. But need a 125 to get me comfortable and relaxed more in my own time. On the cbt my hand where tingling and numb. Bloke said i needed to relax more its because i was so tense gripping the handles. So yeah i need a 125 these clean on ebay seem to be around 2k 2.5k . Tatty ones around a grand. And advice on what to look for on these and how to relax to get the feeling back in my hands 😂

    • @alexprobert3804
      @alexprobert3804 2 дня назад

      Check the swingarm on the underneath/right in the middle by the wheel, mine was rotten and cost me a few hundred quid for a new one. But other than that I only changed chain sprockets etc and did fork seals etc mine was £800 without an MOT but cost me about £400 to get roadworthy doing all the work myself

    • @SW-rides
      @SW-rides  Год назад

      Hi, I can't really speak about the DT as I haven't owned one but the XR is extremely reliable and just check the swingarm for rust ! I also have a new video with more details about the specs of the bike

    • @Ironpine27
      @Ironpine27 11 месяцев назад

      Both are reliable, and almost the same in power. In the end, it's more about which one FEELS better in your opinion. That's what matters most, so try and test ride both before choosing, if at all possible.
      Cheers!
