300 hour private pilot with tail wheel endorsement. Completed written and 35 hours into my instrument training. Just bought a cirrus with my brother. Looking forward to more cross country flights.
When flying over water if you have the life vests you should put them on before takeoff. In an emergency trying to trouble shoot and don the vest is needless complication. Take them off when over land. Four of us wore them even in a Twin Commanche from Wilmington, NC down the Atlantic route to Marsh Harbour. The Bahamas.
That was very nice. To mention I took my best to the Dry Tortuga's the flight was beautiful. So many ways in Paradise. I believe it was 8 passengers on board. We ventured in many directions. 6 hrs then back to Key West ground landing. I sat right seat of the pilot. The pontoons were flooded. Guess what did? I hand pumped the bilge pump to get us airborne. Talk about Pucker Factor. Jeez
Would love to right seat with you some time. I have my PPL (VFR) and beginning training for IFR, based out TLH. Maybe hit up Proof or Deep for a beer after...
Great video, Scotland here, is your dad a pilot,he knows all the jargon, are your passengers allowed to talk while you are traveling, or do you have to concentrate all the time to the air tower, cheers,
Yes, we got our certs around the same time. We brief a sterile cockpit for taxi, takeoff, and landing, but some passengers can be more chatty than others.
Nice plane. I fly a light sport in the mountains of NC. By the way, I pulled the chute 3 years ago. Saved my life. I’m a big believer. N121YT on you tube.
@@jwald6795 99% of the time it's unnecessary to say this...if ATC clears you for landing they assume it's a full stop so no need to let them know its a full stop it's dumb
What i see in many of these videos are disasters waiting to happen. Far too much dependence on automation and gadgets and not enough attention paid to the basics of flying. In this video or on this flight, what would happen if they lost all electronics, communication and autopilot? Obviously many would say A.N.C. but, we cannot navigate or communicate, what then? Practice situational awareness and know in your head the time and your current location in relation to the ground. Be fully aware of your weather reports before you left and keep a picture in your head of the way out of any weather at a given time. remember weather moves. Practice often to fly with reference only to basic flight instruments manually in IFR. Even experienced airline pilots can lose control because they cannot fly an aircraft without electronic aids. I am a retired military pilot, airline captain, instructor and examiner with a little over 30,000hrs total flight time. I still learn something new and practice every day. As the saying goes, inexperienced pilots are surprised when something goes wrong, experienced pilots are surprised when everything goes right.
I'm curious about what you mean by 'a lot of these videos.' If you're referring to this specific video, none of your proficiency assumptions are correct. You sound highly qualified, and if you have any tips, I'd be happy to hear them.
Hey I work for Atlantic MCO and saw your plane leaving our ramp yesterday! Save travels
Cool! wx caused some delays.
Going through the clouds was absolutely beautiful.. Thanks for the great content!

Good video - I’d like to make that trip to the keys - did you go east side of Miami or west side over the swamp on the way down?
Took a route up the west side of Florida straight over the swamp.

No sir
Do you climb using vertical speed or IAS?
Yes, I always climb using IAS. Always descend via VS. This prevents stalling!

I just listened to the ATC audio for it. Pretty crazy the controller had you mis identified. Glad you made it out safe!
Hello Andrew! Do you edit videos yourself or have you hired someone? I’m an editor and would love to discuss it if you’re interested
omg i hate when pilots say "full stop" dude said it 4times
Why do you hate it?

@@roccoVAL I believe they are at a non towered airport. With that being said I usually just say full stop on the final call.
