In my freshman year of college, I built a RUclips channel that reached 20,000 subscribers, primarily through reaction videos. After working in sales for over two years, my perspective on life has shifted. As I observe the growing trend of provocative content, negativity, and drama taking over the internet, I decided to take a different path.
I've started a new channel, not just to document my personal journey, but to inspire the upcoming generation in a positive way. Although I'm currently at 10 subscribers, I feel more authentic with this fresh direction, and I’m committed to creating content that truly matters. Honestly its hard changing but hard things do pay off eventually!

I don’t know how you did it, man, but this morning started with the words I’ve been searching for-not just for the past few months, but maybe my entire life (I’m 30 and just started the YT channel). Starting anything is always hard, but having a clear WHY makes all the difference. It’s like growing a tree: its roots must first reach down to hell before it can grow to the heavens.
Hearing that the first attempt at anything will suck was a revelation. Social media and real life often hide the messy beginnings; we don’t see the struggles behind success. For a long time, I believed that achieving your dreams required a special gift. But there are no gifts-only hard work and a deep understanding of why you’re doing what you’re doing.
So much wisdom. So much value. And of course, you are the King of capturing attention. Huge thanks to the RUclips algorithm for bringing me here, and thank you, Dan, for your incredible work. Hats off! 👏

The best way to do content creation is to put yourself in a position of power financially so that you enter and stay in the space without being desperate.
While desperation can lead to massive action, for the most part, it is negative. It is a position you don't want to be in.
I have done the same thing from the age of 32, hitting rock bottom, working on myself for 7-8 years, and then seeing unimaginable success. Now, I have found my purpose in content creation, but I can afford to invest a lot into it, both time and money, while not being desperate or being that starving artist.

      @Uncommony Месяц назад +7

@jeronimoduarte I still work, but in a very lucrative industry, that allows me to pursue my purpose.
There are a couple of ways.# First is mindset, which is hard because we are all human. The grind and constant struggle will have you second guessing and feeling sorry for yourself. But anything is as good or as bad as you want it to be it's a mindset.
Secondly , which I prefer and I'm a great advocate of is self investment, but we are not all blessed with the time, money, or knowledge. Example, I hit rock bottom and was stuck on minimum wage at the age of 32, I went back to college and got several qualifications to then climb to over six figures. Now I'm in a passion to do what I want when I want because I put myself in a position of power. Yes, I sacrificed sleep, comfort, going out, etc, but I now reap the rewards.
So, know so much more is possible for you if you apply yourself, stick to something, and give it time. You got this

How to be oneself is surprisingly the most effective thing, yet one of the most challenging, since many of us have some imprinted belief that who we are just isn't enough.
In media, advertising, even from our parents' lack of approval. Luckily there are ways out of that fear.

I've been stressing so much about making my channel follow the templates of the likes of top RUclipsrs because I'm worried it won't take off, but it depressed me because it doesn't feel like "me". I don't feel motivated to make videos anymore.
I needed this video. Thank you for putting posting this, it was so refreshing and made me also rethink the direction I'm taking in my hobby side of life, not just on RUclips.
It's hard out there for artists, but I think I'll regret continuing this false facade instead of taking the risk and being true to myself. If it flops, at least I had fun. It's just getting past the social anxiety 😅

This video is for me. I have been struggling to grow my channel, and this video brought some clarity as to why I find it so hard to create the type of content I have been creating. To me, content creation should be meaningful. It should be impactful on someone’s life. Having to chase views and making content around keywords that will get views is the reason I don’t post consistently and even have considered giving up on my dream of being a RUclipsr. This video made me realize being a RUclipsr isn’t the same as being an influencer. Thank you!

I almost never subscribe to anyone!
And here I am, hitting the subscribe button without even thinking at the 20th second of the video, writing a comment.
Because after spending the last 2-3 years (I'm 27) thirsting for value, focusing on self-improvement, and searching for and listening to people who actually create value, I felt within half a minute that I had found the deepest, like-minded thinking I’ve ever encountered.

I've been fortunate to work in the arts as a professional all of my adult life and the "content creator" movement has always made me feel incredible creative inertia for all of the reasons you just listed. A brand is a belief system.
So to build a brand you need 4 things.
    1. Your key belief or vision - the brand
    2. An audience - your people
    3. A medium for communication - books, speeches etc
    4. The messages - content
Martin Luther King believed that one day a black man will govern America.
This statement captures is core belief or vision. His vision is that the US will stop racism.
He gave speeches on podiums in public So that’s his medium
He had an audience and that’s African Americans
Well he said a lot and. Write a lot. But every message he created and communicated was still centered around a belief.
A belief is a brand. Because the way we see the world and our values and our behaviour are a direct results of the beliefs we hold.
If you look at Apple, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Jesus.
You can use the 4 things listed above to have a better look at their brand
    What do you believe
    Who needs it
How will I communicate with them

    1) You have a positive aim for your life
    You're improving, you're developing, you're gaining value.
    2) You're attracting an audience to that value
    3) Project turned into a product
Projects are how you achieve the goals in your life
Projects are how you build solution to your problem
Projects are how you guide experimentation, education and skill acquisition
Profitable products provide a transformation( They solve a problem to help you get closer toward a goal)
If you are not building a project everyday that pushes you towards your vision of the future, then you are playing a losing game and your attention automatically gets drawn to the projects of others so you can make money and survive

Great thinkers hang out here. I've noticed this uplifting trend via Dan's content. There is deep thought and deep work going on here. The Kortex discussion group is a great place for this, too. We are not all TikTokkers and Insta-Influencer-Zombies! We don't care to pimp icky products for impulsive consumers.
That said, here's my get-to-market problem: I'm an authentic artist (cringe at the word authentic) with all kinds of unique product to share. I need to crack the code within the context of exposure, promotion and Dan's philosophies about solving problems. I have a hard time building avatars and coming up with problems that art solves.
Some leads I've stumbled upon: 1) Art as epiphany that solves certain phychological conundrums in peoples' lives. 2) Art as a catalyst for personal transformation, 3) Art as a self-programming tool.
Any additional ideas? Much appreciated if you have some good insights/new angles on this. Thank you!

      @melvincantona5704 Месяц назад +5

@@PhilipDunnArt I have some ideas for you. Call it serendipity but for the first half of this year I was working hard on packaging and art as a solution since I'm an artist. But I took a break from that to focus on another idea for now. But I think this could help.
Consider an angle where your art targets health, wealth, and relationships.
      1. Health
The art creation process has a stress relieving effect. This is why art creation timelapse videos and similar ideas do well.
Even if a person can't engage the process, merely observing it has a calming effect.
Since art creation also promotes mindfulness and relaxation, you could think about selling an art creation course using this angle.
Art creation can be great for the elderly who'd like a creative way to keep their motor and cognitive abilities working
      2. Wealth
      Art as a status symbol
Consider art as an appreciating investment that people or businesses can invest in.
Corporate art collections for high end businesses can help with impression management
Art can be used as a tool for branding by using colors, symbols, or ideas that match the business image
Office art work can create inspiring environment that boosts productivity in the work place
Affiliate partnerships with luxury hotels or hospitality businesses that value art in their interior scheme
      3. Relationships
Art for gifting on special occasions
      Art creation activities for bonding
Hope you find at least one of these helpful

@@melvincantona5704 Ah - excellent advice Melvin. Smart to key on these fundamental areas. I like that bit about boosting productivity in the workplace. I think I'm going to get into this book I have called "Your Brain On Art." It has a lot of good info related to the points you bring up.
The key, of course, is how to translate the benefits to compelling, long-form RUclips vids. Gonna poke around and see if I can find some people who do this already. I found someone who does art curation/design videos. . but she's not quite killing it with the content. I'm on a mission! Thanks so much for your input!
