Hey Lawson you are really gonna love that trolling motor once you get used to it. I have the same one on my 24’ Maverick and it pushes me around like no other trolling motor ever has! Its a game changer and you will find out soon. I couldnt live without mine now. Congrats and tight lines brotha!😎🤘
I love how much you care to learn about the fish you catch and I think it'd be really cool to see you do a species spotlight series or something where highlight a species or something and share some info about it and maybe even go out and try to catch one.
What a cast with the fly rod to snag that tarpon! Really cool to see. I have plenty of those 1 fish or no fish type days, but being out on the water... seeing different parts of nature you don't get to see often... that makes up for it for me. Keep up the good work!
So rad. I have had a roughly 1-out-of-5 day ratio on good fishing days lately, but damn the payoff is so sweet when everything comes together. This is a perfect capture of a "grind day" which any real angler can relate to. It's truly never a loss when you spend time on the water though thankfully. Always something new to learn or experience. Cheers!
sup Lawson! some of of Palm Beach County locals should do a meetup it would be sweet! even if we all met on boats and anchored someplace to chill it could be a blast
Dude wonderful video and sweet trolling motor man! I know I’m not the first one to say this but my God can you flip under the groves like a boss!! I’m always impressed with your casting!! Boy is it tough when it’s tough but you at least had fun doing it!!! Thanks for the videos!
@@frostizz2072 yeah, just a bit larger. I have big hands , so they feel better imho. Also they are way way way more durable. I’ve had mine since the late 90s.
Slow days happen, especially in the summer. Every eat is special when it’s slow. I just got down in FL for college and I got a little barracuda on my first real fishing session. It felt so good to just get bent down here… top water blow-up wasn’t bad either lol
Yo Lawson My DAWG, love the vids! I fish the Gulf near Anclote when we visit family every year. I live in PA and it sucks, but has a few perks (gator blues and monster stripers).
I’ve always wonder why we as saltwater fishers, don’t use what bass fishermen use with their trillermotors ? Foot pedals , having the remote is nice when on a platform, but I’ve always thought using your feet when fishing off the front would be sooooo nice
Not so my friend. I mostly fish intercoastal here in central east coast Florida, but foot controls, here, would Suck! You're moving across the boat (all frigging Over) once you got a big one. You can't control the trolling motor with foot pedals when you're at the other end of the boat. Wouldn't work Broski. Remote is the ONLY way to go.
I'm going to suggest you get a net. A big one. Geez what a dinosaur of a fish. One of the old tail nooses made by Aftco would probably work for gar and they're great for releasing lots of big fish. I don't know if they still make those or not but they were cool.
Did you happen to measure that gar? I googled it and is said the record was 38.something inches and that looked like it was close to that from the camera view
Yeah, a slow day -- think to be common in the heat. Still didn't come up empty handed; Dude, that gar --- not something that happens everyday! Let's Goooooo!!!! Be Safe
Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why you don't use a net to land your fish? I realize that you dont have a net in your boat in all your vids 😆Thanks and love your videos!
when you set the hook with the fly rod, don't let go of the index finger. that way you keep the pressure. the second you release pressure that fish will spit the hook especially poons on fly. that's coming from experience with eh buggy whip brother, lol
I will trade you a free break job for a chance to fish with you. Been a mechanic for 31 years. Not even kidding. I'm in Melbourne a few hours north of ya.... oh, but I gotta bring my wife, wouldn't be fair with our her. And I have a 20' center council with a 150 right by Sebastian inlet. Just planting seeds amigo...
@@scottmichael3745 no sir, cut the head off with a hatchet and use tin snips to cut back the scales then it’s two big fillets almost like deer back straps. Fry it and put some hot sauce on it.
@@glennfosterjr.3883 Why thank you for the info sir! I've often caught gar here. I'm nervous, but I'm going to try it! I also have a smoker. Smoked gar anyone?

My favorite part about the "no wake" rivers east of Okee is the guys that go by pulling wakeboarders on plane 😂
I hate the slow days, but it always makes me want to get back out there right away and try again! The gar was an awesome catch! Keep up the good work!
Oil is to reels as honey is to bees. Please treat your reel to a little.
Good shit Lawson lmao I love the way you introduced the trolling motor "I did a bad thing"
Glad you’re back on the water and uploading these vids keep ‘em coming!

Love getting that notification 🔥
That trolling motor remote looks just like my TV remote hah, you've got to do a review on the trolling motor

I love how we fish longer on slow days than we do on days we slay. Them gar are prehistoric monsters and are cool as hell.
Sebastian river tarpon are so picky, only ever had luck with bottom slow terror eyez
Awesome vid as usual!
Sniping that Tarpon on the fly was excellent! New sub.

As someone whos using just a 50 pound thrust troller on a Jon boat I laughed so hard seeing that motor whip your boat lmao
I love it when videos start of with Lawson talking about his shaft.
Lawson, The trolling motor.....awesome.

Buddy 👍👍👍..your back boat and trolling motor. Can't wait for the future videos.
This is incredible!!!
Love how you throw a Calcutta. My fav reel ever. My Calcutta 151b is the most versatile reel I’ve ever had.
I was thinking of getting one, is it the same as a normal baitcaster

I think fly line would get completely rapped around the foot pedal as well.
you like the remote over the foot pedal?
Badass trolling motor bud..🚀🚀🚀

The most relatable thing I’ve ever seen
Rough watching you not catch fish…hope you have a good day soon.
Funny just taking a break from installing my bow mount and looks like You beat me to it!
That’s what I tell my wife when I buy some new fishing gear. I feel him lol
