I grew up listening to this song. Don Henley still gives me the chills when he sings his part. I usually end up crying when I hear it, because the reality of the situation depicted is pretty vivid in detail. This is probably the hardest realization anyone could ever come to. Knowing you love someone TOO much and have to let them go...but at the same time you love them and you don't want to but you're tearing each other apart...

Don had more success, but Patty is still GREAT. Always wanted to hear a duet with Richard Marx and Marie Freddrickson of "Roxette", and also Joe Elliot (of my favorite band Def Leppard) and Belinda Carlilse or Stevie Nicks.
