This is crazy because Japan has been allowing it's citizens to travel and study abroad during this whole pandemic. I live in Japan and have several friends who currently are traveling back in fourth abroad for recreational travel and one recently left to study abroad but nobody else can come to Japan. I'm sorry but that's some bs.
it is true, I think the USA should ban Japanese tourists/ new visa holders until Japan lets Americans go to Japan under the same requirements. That is only fair.
I’ve been waiting almost 2 years to be allowed entry, if I can’t go this time I lose my ticket and all the associated costs. I’ve learned basic Japanese, and learned the culture and customs, so as not to be offensive while visiting. But the current situation doesn’t give me much hope, and I will likely soon give up hope, and move on to the next country on my list.
Thank you for covering this. We’ve been protesting (STOP JAPAN’S BAN) with demonstrations hosted all over the world (and on NHK). A lot of our followers wanted to see an update from you on our official Twitter.
Thank you for talking about this. Me and my family have been planning to go to Japan ever since I was 10 years old and first began my journey learning Japanese (before then I was a major weeb, so we joked that for one of my birthdays, we'd go) and now that the time has finally come, Japan is closed. At this rate I'll be busy in college before we ever get the opportunity and probably won't have any time to go... It's sad but I'm determined to visit at least once eventually, even if I have grandkids by the time they finally reopen, haha. It seems like just an excuse to keep foreigners out of Japan, a symbol of xenophobia, which reflects really poorly on the country and on the Japanese people who disagree with it. Japan has isolated itself many times throughout history and it never really ended well; hopefully people will soon come to their senses and get rid of this meaningless travel ban!
All we need to do is use our deductive reasoning and get accurate information. If the source is widely accepted/promoted, the information is more likely highly deceptive at best. Keep up the great work Yuta. None the less, still hopeful.
Thanks for making this video. You are probably one of the very few Japanese RUclipsrs who has made a video to express their view on Japan's continued travel ban . Japan has been closed to most people for almost 3 months now, and even before this, it 'kinda' reopened for only 21 days - not good enough . I really hope Japan opens soon for at least foreign students and workers!
I have a contract with a Japanese company and have been waiting over a year to get my VISA so I can go :( fingers crossed they’ll change their minds soon!
Thank you for speaking up about this, Yuta! Students, Workers, Families and Couples have been suffering for at least 2 years at this point. We keep hearing that we need to wait, but some of us have reached our limit! The majority of us have been vaccinated and are also more than happy to quarantine as long as we get to actually enter the country. It feels like a slap in the face when they allow DJ's, athletes and certain other privileged people over us. I sincerely hope that everyone gets reunited with their loved ones because putting your life on pause for 2 years has taken a toll on a lot of our mental health. This also made me personally unmotivated to learn a language that I used to have such a great passion for. Maybe I'll want to start learn again in the future, but what the Japanese government has done to us is unforgivable.
I tried the MEXT scholarship program in Brazil in the beginning of the pandemic and it didn't work at all because of all the limitations. My fiancee is half-japanese, and our intention is to live in Japan in the future. I've talked to tech recruiters in Japan that even told me they would hire me if not for the border control, so we personally chose to wait for all of this to be over so we can go without any issues. We're currently working in an european country, which had no issues with COVID for our entrance, which is surprising because european countries are known for having problematic border control for immigrants, but yeah, we're not giving up on Japan and our dream, even if it takes us 5 to 10 years. We're studying the language as much as we can, and as always I thank you for your content, Yuta.
Thanks for talking about this issue! We need more voices like yours to stand up about this topic!! Muchas gracias por hablar sobre este problema, necesitamos más voces que hablen sobre este tema!
Foreigners bringing COVID in with any effect on the general public, with the current procedures = close to zero. 🙏 PCR test before flight, after landing, shuttle bus to the quarantine hotel, surveillance, another PCR test if you want to shorten quarantine.. and IF anybody tests positive everybody they had contact with travelling is already in quarantine! #Educationisnottourism
Thanks for this video. Everything Yuta said is completely logical. In my opinion the lack of logic being used for COVID policies has been the most maddening part about the past 2 years. I can't speak for every country. I have only been within Europe for all of COVID even though I'm American lol. Apparently, Japan will be easing up on the travel ban a little starting Mar 1st. Doesn't sound like they are easing the restrictions enough though..
According to one of my western friends who has a Japanese family and lives and works in Japan, there has been no halt in the influx of Vietnamese, Indian and African immigrants into Japan since the pandemic began. Can anyone figure out why?
Probably because those people already had a working visa. They've been letting in people with valid working visas who work in areas where there is a labor shortage. That being said, it's definitely not true that there is no halt. The numbers of Vietnamese and other workers from developing countries has also severely slowed down during the past 2 years due to the travel ban.
Please open up your border Japan. I want to get my hands on some Tokyo bananas!!!!! It’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed a Tokyo banana. Don’t make me swim there from Hawaii.
Thanks Yuta. Reality is that this is straight discrimination. If any other G7 nation adopted these rules for non-nationals, the media would go wild with claims of racism and discrimination. It’s truly a shameful policy after 2.5 years. Also, given the fact that Japanese can travel freely outside Japan and return without quarantine, it’s clear that the continued ban is targeted based on race and nationality. Just shameful.
Is there anything you can do Yuta-san? I’m willing to spend a few hundred million dollars on a media campaign to change Japanese people perceptions and misinformation about the covid topic.
IMO unless there are very few and close to zero COVID cases in the world between now and the election. Travel ban will continue. Fushida's government likely wont re-open until after the ELECTION July 25, 2022. The travel ban while unpopular with foreigners is widely accepted by locals. It'd be political suicide to re-open to foreigners while Omicron Covid cases are still high. Fushida likely will not be re-elected if so. Plus factoring in the the current waitlist for entry now is roughly 500k ( Japan is only allowing entry to 5000 people per day). It looks like 2023 until possible re-opening( assuming no more COVID variants). just my 2 cents
A couple of things. If Japan is waiting for zero Covid cases, then the ban will never end. Covid is here to stay. All we can do is change how we treat the symptoms of the virus, and develop vaccines to keep it from flooding hospitals. Eradicating viruses completely from existence takes decades, sometimes even centuries. Also, very recently there was polling saying that the majority of Japanese people actually wanted to end economic restrictions due to Covid. 51% in fact. Now, it didn’t say anything about border restrictions, only “economic” ones, but given the massive downturn in the Japanese economy recently due to these restrictions as a whole, it’s reasonable to believe that Japanese people are warming up to the idea of opening the border.

I've been waiting since October last year for my internship in Kumamoto! I feel happy that Yuta agrees with this!

Me and my family were preparing to go on a vacation to Japan right before the pandemic. I really hope I can go there soon.

No matter what I'll come to japan even if it costs everything that I treasure tbh
Thank you Yuta. I appreciate this video very much
Thanks for speaking about this. I haven't seen my fiancée in over two years because of the travel ban.
Thanks Yuta
Screening certificate japan still need??
Thank you Yuta for talking about this. Japan's economy can't survive if it remains closed to tourists.
It's been two years I just wanna go to school bro 😭

you think it's the risk averse nature of Japanese people that's keeping them from lifting the ban?
PewDiePie is waiting to settle in Japan for almost 2 years now i think...he already has a house in Japan but can't travel because of this ban
Of course the Japanese government has no ban on travel for citizens of the great country of lord Winnie the Pooh last time I checked. I wonder why?
