Great video Bill, the museum seemed interesting, but I thought that they should have made a bit more of Brunel's Atmospheric Railway, seeing as though it was the basis of GWR in South Devon. Brunel had a great design for it, but his downfall came through a combination of fat, leather and rats. Brunel had to connect the pipes with leather connectors, which had to be greased to keep them pliable. Unfortunately, the combination of the grease and the leather was more desirable to the rats than a chicken hotpot 😂😂😂 The engineers couldn't keep up with rats, and the railway literally ground to a halt. The pumping station building is still in Starcross, but it is the home of a restaurant, so I believe.

Hi Rob - Yes, a little more railway stuff in general wouldn't have gone amiss. Cheeky Hotpot Reference! 🤣 - I'll pin you comment as its informative 👍👍👍

Glad the dentist appointment went well Bill. And thank you for taking us to the museum. It looked to be a nicely set up exhibition, the GWR items were displayed tidily and the interactive bits are always fun. The Lotto Fund money seems to have been well spent 👍.

Your photo of Willis jeep!. Not that it matters to anyone else but I had a ride in a Willis army jeep some years ago, I had stopped my van to help a car out of a ditch. This jeep came along and between us we pulled it out using the jeep. I then got a ride back up the hill on a single track road to my van.... It made my day😂.

The museum looked great. I think the phone call was from the trains on the sea wall .They wondered where you were today 🤔

Thanks for that Bill, looking forward to a visit there, quite a few nice pieces. The atmospheric method of propulsion was an interesting one that lasted less than a year and even pre dated the GWR. It surprises me that Brunel, who engendered it, even then couldn't see how impractical it was going to be. An interesting period to read about nonetheless.😯😯

4:40 - the red arm would either be the home or starting signal (so called because it would be the first signal the driver sees when he enters a new section or in the case of a home signal, the last signal the driver sees when leaving the section), and the yellow arm is the distant signal. When the distant arm (the yellow one) is in the horizontal position, that doesn't tell the driver to stop but to slow down. When both arms are in the horizontal position, they tell the driver to stop and vice-versa.

Thanks Eddy. It was fun playing with them, but to be honest, I felt really guilty about making such a loud noise! lol 👍

Weeee ! Train ! Museum … nice Bill. Starcross is the place to go to see the only surviving one of Brunel’s Pumping Stations for his atmospheric railway .. it’s part of the local sailing club. Still impressive to look at from the outside.. and of course during the season you can catch the small ferry across to Exmouth from nearby pontoon.

Yes, nice little museum for sure - Made a change! Teeth? Still waiting to collect them next Wednesday. I tried them in without the connectors to hold them in place - Thats the last part of the implants that they are doing next week, during a 2 hour appointment 👍

Thanks - Yes, it was a good place to visit - Chips were great as well thanks. I think I may have filmed the train leaving, but its one of the things that got left out as I didn't want the video to be too long 👍
