    The problem with going after production companies is the fact that they don't accept unsolicited queries.

    • @filmmakingstuff
      @filmmakingstuff  Год назад +2

      Some movie companies won't look at stuff unless they ask for it. But if you want to make movies, you can still get noticed! Try meeting people at movie events and festivals, calling friends from film school, being active online, and making your own movies.

    Can you hire someone to pitch a script, or help you sell it? It's a true Story, About Evel Knievel's Body Guard.
    Gene could be famous for several things that have been written in a Hollywood movie. He was a motorcycle jumper, heavy weight boxer & more. Gene's father is the subject of THE ODD COUPLE movie. His real Father is Ernie Nevers. Who has fame in 3 Professional Sports. He invented the hook shot; Pitched to Babe Ruth; Saved the NFL & has the oldest 4 NFL records. Ernie was a first inductee to the NFL Hall of Fame. George Clooney made a movie; Leatherheads about him. Gene's GREATEST privilege is about the lives he has saved, even famous people. Just by an inspired thought that came into his head... instead of using his fists. His fists that were going to fight Ali, Joe Frazier, George Formen, and the heavy weights of His day, before Rocky Marciano died in a plane crash. He even had a thought come into his head when he invented the first Skido, and did a stunt in San Francisco. He sent the blue prints to Honda and Kawasaki with no patent. But that voice in his head said "undo your helmet strap", and it kept his head on his body to respond. The movie script starts with his famed WW2 Command Bomber Pilot mother, buzzing him and his brother in a Crop Dusting Plane, bombing them with toilet paper rolls. Gene was the longest touring motorcycle jumper in the world, flying a bike through flames of fire, when there were only 5 motorcycle stuntmen in the world. He's highly regarded in the stunt world. You can watch him speaking to a King, or doing Evel Kneivels Funeral on our channel. Thanks for your advice. Ceci

    isnt there a another option, optioning your script to a studio/Production company to allow them develop it before they decide to purchase the film rights to the screenplay. essentially you lease the screenplay for development purposes for a specific amount of time , if there convinced by what there coming up with from your script then they'll purchase the film rights to develop the script to screen. By leasing it, your taking it off the market.

    • @filmmakingstuff
      @filmmakingstuff  Год назад +1

      Leasing your script to a studio or production company is a valid option in the industry. It allows them to develop the concept further before committing to purchasing the film rights. It's a strategic move to showcase the script's potential while temporarily taking it off the market.

    what is your thought of screenplay competitions, as a way to sell your scripts?

    • @filmmakingstuff
      @filmmakingstuff  10 месяцев назад

      Screenplay competitions can be a fantastic avenue to get your scripts noticed and potentially sold. Winning or even placing in reputable competitions not only adds credibility to your work but also catches the attention of industry professionals. It's a valuable way to showcase your talent and increase the marketability of your scripts. Of course, it's just one piece of the puzzle, and networking and persistence are key in the industry. Hope this helps, and glad my videos are helping you!

    but prod companies accept no unsolicited scripts, same as agents.

    • @filmmakingstuff
      @filmmakingstuff  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it's true that many production companies and agents have policies against unsolicited scripts. It's a tough barrier to overcome, no doubt about it. But that doesn't mean it's impossible to get noticed. There are still ways to get your foot in the door. Look for opportunities like screenwriting competitions, networking events, or even trying to get a referral from someone in the industry. It's all about finding creative ways to make connections and get your work seen. So, while the 'no unsolicited scripts' rule can be discouraging, it's not the end of the road. Keep pushing, keep hustling, and keep believing in your talent. Eventually, someone will take notice.

      The internet opens up a world of opportunities, right? Querying managers and entering US contests are solid strategies to get your foot in the door. Hollywood has already a full staff of screenwriters and none of them welcome newcomers. Dull, empty movies about nothing but NO PASARAN for new writers.

    • @filmmakingstuff
      @filmmakingstuff  9 месяцев назад +1

      breaking into Hollywood can definitely feel like storming the gates sometimes. But here's the thing: there's always room for fresh voices and new perspectives. Sure, the industry can seem closed off, but it's not impenetrable. It just takes persistence, passion, and a killer script to break through. Don't let the gatekeepers discourage you. Keep honing your craft, keep networking, and keep pushing forward. Because when you finally do break in, it's gonna feel like you've conquered the world. So, don't take 'no' for an answer. Keep fighting the good fight, and remember, every great filmmaker was once a newcomer too.
