    Soapy water …look for bubbles….you dont need anything else to spot leaks

      You're probably right. When I've mixed it up before I think I didn't add enough soap so it didn't work very well. I now have leak test solution that will last me for years. LOL

    I’m always so impressed by the work on the build that I don’t even notice the video editing. I want to acknowledge that you get great shots and do a great job of putting it all together for us to view. I’m a busy mom of 3 but I set time aside every Sunday to enjoy your videos.

      Wow, thank you! We really appreciate you making time in your life to follow our build and our channel. And thank you for the compliment on the video editing. I once heard a professional editor say, if your viewers don't notice the editing, then you're doing it right. But on the backend each video probably takes 8-10 hours of concentrated work to put together.

    I think tankless heaters are the way to go, they are energy efficient and take up far less space. Nice job and video!! Good luck with the leak!!

    Just a suggestion next time you connect piping use t's instead of connectors and ells with a plug so if you want to add a line you don't have to cut into the line! God bless Bill

    i did not see any shut off valves at the manifold tees. you may want to do this in case you need to isolate a line. also add a couple extra tees with shut off valves in case you need to add other line in the future

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад

      I wish I would have known this before I ran the gas line because it makes a lot of sense for future expansion. Where I turned the 90 it would have been a great opportunity to put a tee with a plug.
      And yes, probably should have put shutoff on the manifold. Now I'll have to turn of the whole system if I ever want to expand out in the future.
      Now I'll know for next time though. Thanks for the tip.

    It is best to pressurize a pipe (system)with N2. This is because N2 is less temperature sensitive

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад +1

      I've read that before, but the average person doesn't have access to N2. So air worked for us in this case.

    Your ducks are soo cute 🥰 Was that green dye in the pool or eugh?
    Dont they have soldered gas pipes in the US?
    Great to see another progress vid tho 🥳🥂🍻 Do you have an ETA for a move in date, or a target date?

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад

      It was the last day the pool was going to be up before we drained it, so it had got a bit green. No soldered pipes here. Usually black steel like we used. We are hoping to be moved in by Christmas.

    Spent about 50yrs i UK using washing up diluted liquid as a leak detector, then some jobs worth decided not acceptable corrosive, must use acceptable expensive approved leak detector, as a apprentice worked with a fitter who split more fitting in a few months than i came across throughout my working life ,found iron fittings (pos Chinese) now not fit for purpose ( polite version ) rule of thumb don't wait till veins in your neck stick out whilst tightening. = split fitting

    Will there be an inspection for the safety of the gas installation?

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад +1

      Once we get the pressure to hold then we will have the gas line inspected. they want to see 15 PSI hold for at least 10 minutes.

    How did you size your gas lines in the house seems a little small

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад

      We actually oversized them to 1" and the branch lines are all 3/4". From what I've read and the calculations i've done they are plenty big enough.

    Leak Testing Solution? Dish soap and water works just fine

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад

      It probably would have worked fine. I had watched other people who had trouble finding small leaks have good success using specialty leak solution so I figured it was a small investment for peace of mind. But your right, I could have saved $10 and just used some Dawn. We live and we learn.

    • @aron6998
      @aron6998 Год назад

      Problem with using Dawn is it’s very powerful and can cause issues on certain materials especially soft metals such as brass if not cleaned off, I use leak solution designed for searching for leaks but advise cs to use either Palmolive or soft hands in water for searching for leaks themselves bc they won’t cause premature corrosion if not cleaned off afterwards

      I made sure to triple check the connections for leaks. We are all good!

  • @roydriskill8342
    @roydriskill8342 Год назад +1

    You might want to check code on csst connections in in accessible locations such as in the wall connecting to the outlet boxes. Reason I say this is unions are not allowed by code to be in inaccessible locations & that is basically what the csst to npt connection is.

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  Год назад +1

      I looked after you messaged and it says that CSST connections are rated for concealment. Maybe because it is a gasket connection instead of like a union where it is metal on metal?

  • @doncaranci2547

    Use dawn dishwashing liquate to check your piping. go under the house and put a thick layer around each threaded section and wait if it bubbles you have a leak in that spot check everything one by one. you want to start this early in the morning that way you can find all the leaks
