  • Who Owns Jack Kerouac? A film by Jack Shea (circa 2000-2003) - Jack Shea’s Who Owns Jack Kerouac? is a powerful and controversial documentary exploring the relationship between the author of “On the Road” and his never acknowledged daughter, Jan Kerouac (Baby Driver). The film is a record of Shea’s cross-country journey searching for answers to the controversy over Kerouac’s estate. Jack Shea (1950-2004) is an ex-patriot American artist, filmmaker, and singer/songwriter who lived and worked in Edinburgh, Scotland. Beat poet Ron Whitehead called “Who Owns Jack Kerouac” the most important film ever made about Kerouac.

"But in any case, it doesn't matter" says John Sampas about the last letter Jack wrote in hopes of changing his will. John's arrogance masks a deeper truth because it does matter! Thinking deep on the life of Jan, having only an idea of the anguish and pain she felt, my empathy surrounds her because I've always felt an affinity with her. What an interesting and revealing film. Condolences to the Shea family ~

Even if her supporters were misguided, it was her birthright not the Sampas family and although they ended up being administers……..it should have been for her benefit. They would have been entitled to a percentage for administering but not the estate.

This was a great artsy film. I loved it. I'm a big Kerouac fan. I finally got to see more of Jan on film. Who is the guy at the end of the credits who said he was going to every state to see how people hang out? I want to read it.

GM 3.8 Liter 6 cyl was one of the Best Engines ever made! Any mechanic will tell you. I drove one across country myself. Easy to work on and get fixed. Even today the only older American cars still on the road are 90's LeSabres and Park Avenues! Jack would have been proud.
