  • Here is a great way to cook Bratwursts that guarantees that they are juicy and full of flavor. Perfect for when you invited guests over to a BBQ, as you can serve them when people are hungry.
    Ingredients:
Fresh Bratwursts or Sausages of your choice.
    1 Onion
    1 Green Pepper
    Butter
    Olive Oil
    Salt and Pepper
    Sauerkraut (optional)
Chop up Onion and Pepper. Place in Bag with a Tablespoon of Olive Oil and some Salt and Pepper. Vacuum seal in bag with a few Spoons to help weight back down and prevent floating. Vacuum seal Bratwursts in bag as well.
Cook in Sous Vide bath at 160 degrees for 45 minutes or up to 4 hours. Remove Onions and Peppers and Saute under medium high heat for a few minutes. Then add some Butter and continue cooking until they are soft and cooked to your liking.
Saute Bratwurst in some Olive oil. Saute for a few minutes, and turn them over and push the sides down as well to evenly brown on all sides. Serve with Sauerkraut and Mustard and enjoy!

Nice overview. All the benefits you listed are completely true. So nice to be able to focus on life, side dishes, socializing, whatever, and have predictable, reliable results ready to go.

This was very interesting and informative. I don't own a sous vide, but this process for party extended readiness time is great. We didn't eat these type sausages growing up, but I now love them. The secret taste test was very revealing. Loved this video.

When it comes t cooking Brats I think it matters most where you live and how you grew up as to how to make them. In Sheboygan County Wisconsin the standard process is fresh brats ( JV ) rank high with us over a charcoal grill with cast iron grill plates. Pay attention and rotate them often. When they are done to your liking you have t try one to make sure it has the snap of the casing when taking a bite. Not tough and not soft but a tender snap when you bite it. And of course in a Hard Roll bun two at a time. That being said make them how you prefer but that’s how I was raised. For me if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Steve….

I have made Brats that way many times, but always like experimenting with different cooking methods. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment Steve!

Man, I just got a sous vide and blazing bull. It will be raining all day though 😂

You have a perfect sous vide set-up my friend! Get some good quality steaks, sous vide and finish on that blazing bull. Be careful, probably only need seconds per side at 1500 degrees, so watch them closely. Check out some of my other videos for ideas! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

@@SmokingBBQ thanks, will do! I've been watching a ton of videos. Thinking I'll pat the steaks dry. Then stand them up in the fridge for 10 minutes. Just enough to dry it off. Then I'll probably dunk it in clarified butter right before the blazing bull for 1 minute a side.

No boiling brats! Not right way to cook brats, lazy way, according to Ralph Stayer, chairman of Johnsonville. Boiling does not allow for proper breakdown of proteins.

Totally agree with you, boiling brats is not the correct way to cook. Sous vide cooking is not boiling. Thanks for stopping by!

I make brats in large quantities Sous Vide. Living 10 miles from Johnsonville I come into lots of bratwurst contact and German hard rolls. Enjoyed your video.

@@SmokingBBQ sous vide is indeed not boiling. It’s closer to a precise poach.
