I have been looking at this curriculum for the past 2 years. My youngest has a strong speech issue and so is "behind" with learning to read. After this video, I think I'm going to take the plunge ❤

What led you to choosing this curriculum?
Is it for all beginning readers or only special needs readers?

I don’t personally have a special needs reader and we did it. I picked it because I didn’t like what we were using and of all my other options, this just felt right. Overall, we really enjoyed it and my son is a much stronger reader now. So I count that as a win.

      Ok👍
What do you do when you finish this program?

I haven’t totally decided. They do have subsequent levels that I’ve looked into. But I may do something different just to switch it up. abeka and Christian light are also on my possibilities list.

Ahh this makes more sense. I was so excited to try this curriculum with my daughter. But I thought she needed to do the prep book before she started the workbook and she was bored out of her mind. She was ready to start reading. In hindsight I’m like why didn’t I just switch to what was going to work for her instead of doing what I thought I was ‘supposed’ to do. But I ended up getting a diff LA curriculum and it’s been going good. And she is still using the prep book for her handwriting. Maybe I’ll use it with my younger son so it doesn’t go to waste. Are you planning to do the next level this fall?

I am planning on moving into the next level. We’ve both really enjoyed it!

Thanks for sharing! Is there teaching of the phonogram sounds before you see them in the story, or is this learned via the reading in the story? I have read this is phonics and sight word based, so i'm curious how that looks in the curriculum.

I would recommend teaching the letter and phonogram sounds prior to doing this program. My child already knew his letter sounds so this builds on that prior knowledge.
