How lovely - ever timely - thank you. Edward FitzGerald the Bard of Suffolk 1809 - 1883 who translated and adapted the wise and wonderful world famous multimillion selling poem the Ruba'iya't of Omar Khayya'm also coined a timeless saying "Taste is the feminine of Genius". I visited the Writers Museum in Makkars Court, Edinburgh in august this year and was pleased to learn more about Sir Walter Scott and Rabbie Burns both of whom Edward FitzGerald admired greatly making a special trip / pilgrimage to Scotland & Abbotsford (do see his Letters). For my part I coined a poem 'Flam's o Alba' read at the Book Festival in support of Scotland regaining its Sovereignty, its closing lines being "From Ayr to Aye - Luve to Luvin - reason not the need...Scots are Scots an Scot an Scotland's Free"....2023 - just do it X an do see the Legal Documents - the wise voices ancient and modern enshrined in Law that establish the reality of Independence or Self-Unity on the SALVO website. Thankx Scotland - will visit you again.
Which is your favorite proverb from Scottish culture?
Perfect love, cannot be without equality. Very Good and Practical Message. (V. M. Sridhara)
"Be a friend to yourself, and others will too"
Love this 💚
Powerful proverb. I also like: "Be happy while you're living, for you're a long time dead".

In marriage, a problem shared is a problem doubled
What's for ye won't go by ye.
Don't know if it's Scottish but my mum always says it.
Ohh it is
Mony a mickle makes a muckle.
(Many small things make a large thing.)
I wish to marry scottish where I live
