- Tom Hanks, sees someone he knows on the red chair. Can this be the same person that he mentioned on The Graham Norton Show (20/11/2015). Adam Shaw of how Tom saved his life on the film 'Saving Private Ryan (1998)'
I'm so glad he remembered him
Nah, they surprised Tom because they knew he'd remember as he's told the story before.
rehersal? you know how many extras were used on that beach? you cant rehearse that, you get a page of what you have to do. like fall over boat and run to the beach etc. thats it, no rehersal on that scale
im the twit???? what fucking talk shows have their guests do rehersals, they show up, do the show and go, the guests dont rehearse, they come in and sit down and talk, you really thought tom hanks does a talk show rehearsal? thank you for making my day
EVERY single talk show does rehearsals with their guests. They don't rehearse everything, just a run-through of what they'll talk about, where they'll sit, if they are okay with doing this or that.
the presenter and the crew rehearse, not the fucking guests, most of those guests come straight from movie premieres. please stop talking, you are looking like an idiot
and if you are trying to troll me, well think again, i have your IP. sersiously just go away
Tom Hanks is amazing remembering an extra working on a film.
Franca Perotti 9
Franca Perotti a film from almost 20 years ago
This sketch was pre-planned
From 18 years ago. I couldn't pick out the people I graduated with 10 years ago from a line.
staged
he remembered him! tom hanks has never let me down. love his movies. love his humor and attitude toward fans. and he remembered someone from that long ago after that many movies and people coming in and out of his life. what a genuine moment. fantastic!
Tom Hanks the Dad of America, looked like he was my dad's twin brother.
Staged mate
@@lonewolf3314 I think so, too
Tony England what the h. With that fly on your picture, for a second there... haha just kidding have a good day.
staged, buddy
I love Tom Hanks! He's so humble, funny... classy, talented! So kind and respectful. There should be more men like him in the world. Seriously, what a role model he is.
news report 2018, women coming out about tom hanks inappropriately touching them :3
His son Colin who is also an actor, seems like a fine man as well.
True, DearMake. It helps to be American, I feel. The 'nice guy' in the UK often gets pitied at best. Just about every major British actor, unless they attended Eton / Harrow etc, has not only played a relatively nasty piece of work during their career but is often best critically acclaimed for it.
I hope Hanks is humble! Do you remember his first sitcom, BOSOM BUDDIES? Throughout the show he was dressed in drag!
@@DekkarJr Yeah, I met Colin years ago on a film set. He was such a cool guy to chat with. Easy to get along with.
wow, that was a cool story and it almost got wasted in 2 seconds.
What do you mean?
JGL nearly stopped it happening
Thanks :-)
If Tom never had second thoughts.
They should have put a deep pool of water behind the red chair and flipped him into it, see if he'd learned his lesson.
It's really amazing that Tom Hanks still remembered him. That shows what kind of man he is. Incredible
Hmmmm.
I recognized that guy immediately. When they're storming the beach, he's hiding behind one of the tank barriers and is shouting then takes a bullet right to the chest and sinks back into the water.
one of the best actors of our generation (the guy from Pudsey)
Tom is amazing
you americans need to build a machine that will make tom hanks live forever
As long as it’s only for people like Tom Hanks, The Rock, Sandra Bullock...can you imagine if the Kardashians got their hands on it!?
He's an international treasure, the whole world needs to work on that machine.
Don't worry he will have you not seen the Green Mile ha ha!?
+poogie 😃😂😂😂😂😂
Noody Ahmed yes! Get on that, would you?
Tom Hanks is a TRULY FANTASTIC person.
One of the best red chair story, the whole thing is great.
This is why I love Tom Hanks. He remembers people and really respects them.
I like Tom Hanks. Unlike a lot of other hollywood actors he's genuine and sincere, rather than superficial and fake.
What do you know of "a lot of other Hollywood actors," you paranoid nit? I live in Hollywood, work in Hollywood, have met and worked with hundreds of stars, and 98% are lovely, good people. But I hear that all people named Tehui are insecure and cynical. Have you heard that, too?
@@generalyellor2187 He said a lot, not the majority. 98% still leaves thousands of others. What is your profession btw???? I'm honestly curious.
so sweet that tom remembered him. I am so quick to assume people forget who I am all together.. most do. but seeing tom remember this bloke from way back when came off incredibly sweet to me.
Tom Hanks is an awesome person. As many times as I’ve seen him in the interviews he never disappoints
I think it awesome how genuine he was, how his timing was great, and how he talked enough perfect for the show with it being so improvised.
Says everything about Tom Hanks to remember someone he once worked with and sees him for a few seconds and and again remembers him. Amazing.
Is there anything tom can't do ..great actor , human , dad , funny and saves LIFE ..
Being a mom
Talk about a good memory! Of all the movies Hanks has done, he recalled working with this man. Incredible!
Says alot about tom Hanks remembering that guy, he really is a nice guy
That was so precious seeing Tom being able to recall every moment and even remembering he was just out of drama school, I mean it must've been years since that moment happened 😍
Tom has quite often surprised us with his good memory. Seen a few clips by now.
I remember watching SPRyan in the cinema and was just in awe of how real and visceral the movie was. After it finished my friend said he loved the movie but didn’t think Tom Hanks should be in it as an Army captain, as hes not butch enough. Before i de-friended him i said thats why the movie and Hanks were perfect! War isn’t full of strong invincible people! Its just ordinary people doing horribly extraordinary things. Hes such a nice guy who happens to be brilliant at his job
A lot of soldiers t hen where ordinary folks. His character was a teacher, Audie Murphy a courageous American hero was a just a boy next door
just imagine if tom didn't remember that guy we would've never knew about this story because of joseph
That’s why I LOVE Tom Hanks.
This is incredibly awesome, especially when Mr Tom Hanks remembers you as an extra. wow
Its amazing how we all have a story in life, and small moments like this could make for an incredible memory that would last a lifetime, a truly wholesome moment.
What a wonderful man Tom Hanks is. Genuinely nice.
How even the silliest of moments in our lives can become so memorable. Lovely chap Adam.
This is hilarious and it shows how down to earth Tom Hanks is ❤️❤️
We need more Toms in this world. Once again showing humility, grace, class and warmth. He is a legend for every good reason. I’m sure his empathy and ability to relate to anyone helps him as an actor
Tom Hanks reminds me of James Stewart. I cannot think of higher praise in my eyes
i hate it when one of the guest flips the chair for no reason! it's such a dick move we probably missed a lot of great stories because of them!
I know. This is the first full red chair story I've seen in 20 minutes...
sarah854r4h Exactly!! It's sooo annoying, they think they're being funny but it really isn't, it's just annoying and obnoxious. It's only ever funny when Graham does it because he has the right comedic timing. They just do it out of nowhere and it's just like wtf dude sit back down 😒😒
sarah854r4h yeah that guy is an ass
the mark wahlberg one though was a good move
That is true! Graham generally has a good call when to flip the chairs. Hate it when they flip it before the person got to say anything... I feel like it's not fair because they would not know it even if it was a good story.
Some people are just nice coworkers and Tom is one of them, acting is a job like any other, so glad he remembered him...
Respect mr hanks, you are a class act and actor!
This is cool. Adam Shaw is listed as one of the actors in SPR on IMDB - he's worked on a few other films too. Nice that TH remembered him.
Tom Hanks is such good value. Great films and a great guest. I've listened to him on Kermode and Mayo and he is one of their favourite interviewees. The man would be Sir Tom by now if he was British.
Tom Hanks is such a kind soul.
How lovely is Tom Hanks❤
This really really impressed me. Tom Hanks is so down to earth. There was another one on Graham where he chastised a comedian for disrespecting his mother on air like an old school traditional family oriented guy. I would probably forget a classmate I had for 10yrs if I met them again
I think that Tom Hanks is such a lovely person.. fame has not changed him at all .. he has time for anybody
What a lovely man Tom is
Amazing that Tom Hanks recalled him!
Hanks is such a gentleman
Tom Hanks has all the hallmarks of a REAL movie-star. The man is a LEGEND!

Tom Hanks will go down as a 1 in billion actor
I watched that movie for the 1st time last month. Great film.
I hope it's not the last time
Tom Hanks - an exceptional actor and a thoroughly good man!
There is a video of Tom photo bombing a wedding shoot while jogging in New York
"meeting tom hanks" is a moment that every actor waits for in their lives...
I hate when celebrities flip someone in the red chair so hastily, just to be funny, before the person has even had a chance to tell their story. It might be funny to the guests, or even to the audience, but it's not funny on this end. It's annoying.
That's because us nobodies could ever have interesting stories like they do.
90% of the time it's an American guest. They just don't have any class, they see an opportunity for a cheap laugh at someone else's expense they take it.
Boo hoo. Fooook you.
I feel the same. I think it’s so rude and arrogant. (it’s different though when Graham does it.). I remember Lilly Allen did it and you can actually see Miriam Margolyes telling her, “That’s not very nice.”
This one was actually good, because Tom was so classy…remembering an extra. It really showed up Gordon-Levitt.
we can all Agree that Tom Hanks Greatest Actor in the world
That was BRILLIANT!
This is the coolest story ever. Why because Tom Hanks is in it
Truly is wonderful. One of the greatest ever actors and still down to earth. Salute you sir!!
Yes. Adam is a legend.
Thanks for posting
The Guy in the red chair…i salute you….Tom Hanks. Damn u always save my life…i are so amazing
I salute you back sir. I drank 4 beers after just to calm down!
Amazing that Tom remembers him.
This is why no one should be flipped until they've at least started their story
Great story!!! Tom Hanks Not surprised you legend but Adam! What a cool tale.
Tom Hanks in general seems to have great respect for his co-stars. I remember in another Graham episode, he mentioned the guy who played young Forest Gump became a veteran. It's pretty cool that he remembers an extra from so long ago
I got to know tom cruise over many years because of the job I did. Always looked out for me to say hello. A really nice guy.
Cruise🥴
Heart of gold😍...
Tom Hank has good memory, Saving Private Ryan is war film, it has many many supporting cast on that film...!!!
They filmed the landing craft scenes in 1997 and this episode was in 2016 so Tom remembers the face of a guy he worked with for probably a single day 19 years previously. Thats actually pretty impressive when it’s very likely he never saw him again until he was sitting on that chair.
I love Tom.
I remember seeing him in the movie he gets shot when Hanks was holding him.

I’m impressed Tom Hanks remembered him
JGL flipped the guy who was in Saving Private Ryan. Always listen first.
Oh wow!! Good job Tom he remembers the smaller role 👏👏
That’s epic! ❤️
The fact that Tom remembered an extra from a film like 20 years ago who he had one conversation with is amazing. A film like that would have had 100's of extra and he's done so many films......that's a good dude right there!
Michael Devaney Adam wasn't an extra. He was a named cast member.
Saw him on Ted Lasso Season 2, Episode 9 and immediately recalled him from here. He's the Bug!
better make it Saving Private Adam
Bravooooo Tom 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video! Learned a thing about that Joseph Gordon guy too
Tom freaking Hanks❤️
If Adam being on the chair to tell that story, or even the realization was somehow all staged, it's still amazing. Maybe JGL wasn't in on it. But I want to believe that Tom Hanks really did save Adam from drowning that day. It's something most people will never forget. Sorry, it's 3:30am on a Monday. I'm stuck in a GNS show loop.
Trust me. He did. I was in real trouble in the water. It was the swell of the tide. It kept pushing me back and i coudnt move! xads
Tom Hanks is so fucking cool. I met him on the set of Inferno. Such an awesome man
If I'm correct that's the guy who Miller drags through the water to get to the beach and when they get there he gets shot in the middle of saying "Thank you".
Yes, I've watched Saving Private Ryan many many times.
somanytakennames you are right
Never seen the movie 😬. Now I have to watch it
I was watching Saving Private Ryan recently and I remembered this clip so I was on the lookout. I'm 99% sure it's the guy Tom's holding onto and he gets shot in the heart just after he tries to shout something lol
Yeah he tries to say Jesus thank you, but when he say’s thank he get’s shot.
How positively darling! 🙂
A year before this Tom hanks told the same exact story
You dont think?
He was the guy hanks dragged in behind the steel hedgehog on Omaha beach and a bullet hit him in the chest. Another bullet whizzes behind and smacks into the water and and hanks continues ashore.
I saw Adam Shaw in Ted Lasso!
I am fella. I play Bug. Best to ya.
@@adjrshaw best to you too! Hope we see more of you. I went back and watched the beach scene on Saving Private Ryan after seeing this.
Tom is a stand up guy...
That Adam Shaw guy has some kind of charisma and "x factor". He seems like a celebrity to me even though he isn't.
Who says nice guys finish last? Tom is tops.
So nice of Tom Hanks to remember him but JGL deserves a kick in the nuts for flipping the red chair like that 😡
Tom hanks is joint top nicest actor ever with keanu reeves 👌
That's quality
What a great & funny story
Gemma
He get a full time job acting great 👍
I think I saw Adam in Dr. Who too. One of the earlier episodes with Cybermen.
Fair play Tom hanks
I KNEW he looked familiar. god that movie is etched in my brain. iirc, i couldnt sleep properly for two weeks after watching it. i was pretty old too. 15 or 16 but it stayed with me for weeks.20 years later i still remember this guy getting shot in the chest as if i watched it yesterday.
Tom Hanks actually dragged him across the beach, and had dialogue with him, so yeah he did act with him a bit, he wasn't just a random background player.
Very true 👍🏾
In another video T. Hanks tells that story of meeting the guy on set.
0:20 Did Joseph Gordon levitt pull the lever on him cause he was an actor? I think Joseph forgot he's an actor as well
Either that or something horrible happened to him in Pudsey.
Because he's up his own ass due to the guy stating he was an actor but obviously a small time one
Because he is a twat!
Ya Joseph Gordon Levitt will never have the class of Tom Hanks. Let Mr Shawn talk... Good grief!!!
Do any of you on here have a sense of humour
I wouldn't say I have anything against Joseph Gordan Levitt for making a joke like that, but there is a lesson for me that I should be aware of what blind arrogance can look like: Try to avoid it.
And after when Tom Hanks saved the moment: Try to do that.
Well said ; a superbly succinct comment , thank you
