      When you get to the big city, consider changing all those clamps with T Bolt clamps. Can be made a lot tighter, and get the socket driver for them too.

      We did a lot of #roundaustraliawithspelio trips with four kids in the #HoldenHJ1975 #ygw109 including a couple of trips to Uluṟu, never had the trouble you have had. Great effort coping.. we went from Ningaloo to Alice along the Gunbarrel Highway in #Smoky60Series , many videos here with those tags and #FlickrSpelio . I admire your competence in fixing the truck…

    I think that the way you involve the children in life's tasks is excellent parenting. Your eldest daughter is a champion. I'm enjoying the series very much as it brings back memories of my family doing about the same in Southern Africa. Our grown up married children still talk about our life of adventure. Your children will be for ever grateful for their adventurous life. Good on you guys.

    Intercooler repairs at 28 minutes. Mate I feel for ya. As a dad, you never wanna feel like you've let the family down. When the hits keep coming, sometimes you just need to let yourself go.
    You guys seem like such a supportive and tight team, you guys are great at keeping each other's heads up, the kids included.
    We're a family of 7, and just getting into the camping scene. A little later than I would've liked, but better late than never.
    I love watching your story and your journey and the kid vision bloopers are great and are very similar to some of the random videos on my phone 😂
    Love your work guys, travel safe

    This was an excellent display of self control under difficult circumstances. Every man gets upset when his vehicle breaks down. But, breaking down in the middle of nowhere is different. And, the way you had your son helping you fix the truck and explaining things to him you know he doesn't understand was epic. Ellis said "I fixed it". Young fella you're a cool dad. 👍👍👍

    Mate don’t let the 1% of life get you down. I feel you and I think we have all been there. But look at it this way. That “problem” gave you a great opportunity to teach your future trip maintenance manager what can happen and how to fix it. All in all a good job as a Dad. Your kids are living the free life as we did as kids. Learn by doing and enjoying what was given to us for free.

    Hi from New Zealand. Yes you have had a frustrating time lately and Jackson has to be a back yard mechanic. As you drive your Isuzu truck with your caravan, I earlier this year drove a 2015 Isuzu Giga truck carting apple bins around Hastings and the truck lost all the gears in a AMT gearbox. I had to direct traffic on a busy intersection for half an hour till the mechanic came. I found out later that the clutch had blown up, so I know your frustrations. You do a great job of the editing of your shows, Keep it up. Thanks Jono P.

    I haven’t seen any comments about the intercooler pipe. So far they are not the correct Clamps they are hose clamps you need intercooler clamps ( NORMA Type

    • @andyg9991
      @andyg9991 7 месяцев назад +5

      Was scrolling through the comments to say the same thing, The clamps on there are the typical standard clamps used by the manufacturers, but with the tune, their is no way they are going to cut it.
      Jackson, when you hit civilisation, source some Normaclamp GBS heavy duty clamps. Only around $5 each and at least you know it wont be an issue in the future

    • @LesNewell
      @LesNewell 7 месяцев назад +3

      I agree T bolt style clamps have much better clamping. I was rather surprised to see cheap screw clamps on the intercooler hoses.

      thanks chris. we changed all the pipe clamps as soon as we hit civilisation. not only where they the wrong clamps. most where over tightened and stripped.

    Hey, really, really, REALLY loved your sharing at around 26-27 minute mark about being a Dad and starting to question things you're doing. I'm a Dad built for adventure, also and we travel remotely around the NW USA and British Columbia. I am a professional, but I have rebuilt engines from scratch, transmissions as well, and used to develop vehicles at General Motors world HQ and Toyota North American HQ. We travelled by boat, by 1987 Vanagon Syncro, by LandCruiser, etc. Now I'm older and I can see the echos of that adventure spirit we instilled in them back then. They're capable of doing things their peers aren't, they're both notably more confident in their attitudes and have the abilities to back it up. They also take setbacks in stride and lean forward to get moving again and those are basic core personality traits you can't start instilling into someone later. It starts with you and your wife and them as young kids. It also opens doors for them in their futures if they choose to step through, that other kids won't have, or even won't see. Switching topics, I'm absolutely amazed at the mechanical setbacks you continue to see. My 80 series LandCruiser simply never breaks no matter what we throw at it. So when I started watching you guys, I thought. "OK, here we go. This would be MY style. Skip all the preliminary smaller vehicles and go right to industrial grade trailers and a commercial grade tow vehicle. They'll be able to go anywhere and they'll be unstoppable." But I'm shocked. Isuzu are world class builders for that medium duty rig you have. Really surprised you are having mechanicals on that setup. Anyhow, keep it up, Dad's all over the globe are rooting for you, and I suspect if they share the DNA you and I have, they'd be saying the same thing. You are absolutely doing the right thing, brother.

    When I tighten up hoses, I use a small socket or spanner to do it up. You get a lot more tension. Keep the good content going

    • @davidhowell5945
      @davidhowell5945 7 месяцев назад +2

      However when using a spanner or socket you need to watch that you don’t overtighten the clamp and cut through the hose. But suggest you use the correct clamps as other guys have mentioned.

    Looking out the lounge window beyond the balcony up on a hill in a small coastal town in Devon. I look out to the horizon on my left to the Sea, below is the town sprawling across the valley below and up the other side and to my left is a lattice work of fields with crops, cows, lama's and sheep, horses and donkeys. I can see over 40 miles out to sea and the horizon and miles of forest and farmland. I would say that most probably is better than a big red stone in a desert like environment in my opinion. Each view has its beauty in the eye of the beholder I would have thought.

    I hope your run of mechanical woes is over!
    I also have an NPS and an Isuzu mechanic told me that the passengers side intercooler pipe always blows off first because it is a a larger diameter than the drivers side pipe, it commonly blows off down as the intercooler itself. He told me to make sure it was really clean using brake cleaner or some other solvent and to do the clamps up with a spanner as the screwdriver will not get them tight enough to prevent them blowing off.

    If they used the original turbo, it could be going into turbo overboost. Our Isuzu had the same issue, well known turbo faults.
    Keep up the great work guys ❤

    Carry a mini 1/4 in socket set with a 8 mm socket. Best for tightening hose clamps up.

    Grab yourself some T-bolt clamps for the intercooler pipes, then spray the inside of the hose ends with copper gasket spray (hairspray also works) then fit and clamp, give a little bit of time for the spray to set. Common issue with the Isuzu.

    A good thing might be to go over most of the clamps, after a repair to locate any missed nuts not torqued of hose clamps resettling??

    Streaky Bacon. I never heard it, yet I saw our flag on the package for you to know that it would take me about 6-7 days to cross Canada. I used to be a long-haul trucker. I noticed there wasn't any Police Radar

    You need Mikalor Super clamps in place of those wretched worm drive clamps. I had similar issues with my truck, the silicon hoses that came with the upgraded intercooler. The number of times I had to fix it by the side of the road till I changed the clamps. Grrrrrrr. Hope you solved it long term.

    You need to replace the hose clamp with a t bolt clamp.
