- Опубликовано: 2 авг 2024
- Thanks for watching! See below for some corrections.
Today I take a first look at the new Vanquish Products' VS4-10 Origin kit! SBG was honored to be a part of this project from nearly the inception. We expect a lot of great things out of this truck!! It's very well engineered and definitely lives up to Vanquish's high standards of quality.
Pre-Order yours here: www.vanquishproducts.com/vs4-1...
Here's the things I got wrong! Tires do NOT come mounted on the wheels. Front headlight buckets are 10mm and rear are 5mm. Battery tray is stamped aluminum, not steel. Axle steering shafts are VDI. Additionally, I mention that all you need is electronics to get this truck up and running, but for the sake of accuracy here's a more refined list of required items:
Shock Oil
Tools
Paint
Grease (VPS01017 Recommended)
Threadlock
Battery
Charger
Radio System
Motor (3mm Motor Shaft Recommended)
ESC
Steering Servo
Servo Horn (20mm Length Recommended)

Very nice overview, Vanquish has knocked it out of the park with this release!
Chris, I'll gladly send you my body when I get mine so you can do a sweet paint job and video on it bud. ;) :D
Thanks very much Chris! I think you painting one of these bodies would be amazing. Let's try to make that happen!
I find it odd that a company that makes everything from machined aluminum would put plastic wheels on a kit like this.... for the price you'd think they'd be metal
@@pmm4177 If they didn't it would be almost a 1000 dollar kit. Plus they know that 99% of people who spend 800 on a kit will want to make it original and choose their own wheels. So why put a set of 100 dollar metal beadlocks on it when most people would be pissed they have to be forced into a wheel. Or pissed they have to spend another 120 to get the wheels they want. See what I mean. As a company they have to do what makes most sense to their brains and their wallets. At least they're beadlocks so you can use the tires. Hope that clears up the confusion.
The Airplane clip alone makes this video awesome. The kit is great too!
Roger, Roger. Thanks for watching!
Great video, Matt! The truck looks great and I’m sure that Josh and VP did a great job on the engineering. The best part about this truck is that you know it will work. How many times have people (myself included) have dumped $$$$ on a truck just for compatibility issues between aftermarket parts? Home run VP!
Thanks Rich, it's definitely a very high quality, well engineered kit. Nice to see everything come in one package too.
Thanks Matt! A lot of great information. I’m glad someone/company is making a really good scale rig. Thank you Vanquish!
Thanks for watching, and the feedback Matt!
Pre-ordered mine as soon as I could, can't wait
Awesome!
Awesome, can’t wait to see this thing in person. Great video Matt, see you soon
If you're at KNK in a week, it'll be there Brad!
Scale Builder's Guild ,will be there Thursday afternoon
Looks awesome can't wait to see it in person. Love the video
Thanks very much!
This is one of the more exciting, if not the most exciting, kit I've seen come out yet! Nostalgia kicking in, of course, but I appreciate that Vanquish did their homework. Will be a good candidate for the three-payment option a lot of the larger retailers offer once available. Great vid with your usual expertise, Matt :-)
2mtech I never thought of that.
Tower and Amain offer payments.
Who else?
Madeline Lucas Those were the two that came to mind, not sure about RC Planet. I would expect Vanquish will retail through the big guys like them and RPP at least.
Very kind words, thank you very much! Yes definitely if you can spread out the payment, why not?
Wicked overview on this one Brother. Really digging what you did with the paint work, even the color is pretty dam cool. As always a great video!!
Thanks very much!
any vids of your painting process for newbs?
Check Hemistorm’s channel.
Paul Sutton SBG gives a great suggestion, Hemistorm is an excellent channel
MANTRA!!!! Shakes fist at the ocean...
nice review sir. I never got bored once.
I'm glad I can't bore you. Wait for seeing each other in person for that. ;)
Hands down best kit in the market overall you made a great point about the price cheaper to purchase the kit then to purchase individually. Can’t wait for the release of this body I’m liking it more every time I see it
Amazing, thanks for your feedback!
Really nice rig!! Looking forward to seeing it in action!👍
Running video coming soon!
Wow the ripper and now this beast good lord...simply awesome
It's pretty great. I'm very excited to be running it and having some time with it. An excellent, well balanced truck. Probably the best out of the box truck I've had my hands on.
Nice work on the paint schemes! Great job brother!
Matt what a cool overview :D love and much laughing and much fun time to look your vids - thx
Thanks very much, I enjoy making these videos, you should enjoy watching them!
Man I’m late! Great video and perspective on this rig, I think you inspired us start looking on getting our own
DO IT! You won't regret it.
Quality video! Looking forward to seeing this truck get out in the wild.
Coming soon!
Amazing overview! I think you got me to pull the trigger on this one.
Success!
Perfect talk about this! Good edit as always!
Thanks very much!
Excellent rig I’m for sure will be having one shipped to the uk!
Great vids dude ..
Thanks very much, I enjoy making them to share with all!
what a sweet truck it looks so rad with good chassis as well and holy...fenders lol...great truck and thanks for the review I always get a laugh and usually learn something keep up the great vidz
Glad I can help, and give you a few chuckles.
Great overview! I'm pretty pumped on this kit, even if I can't afford one at the moment, I think it's an excellent value. Yep, guess I am a vanquish fan boy after all XD
Thanks very much, save your pennies!
Can’t wait to see feedback on it. Hoping to make it to ttc5.
I'm hoping to have the follow up and running video ready in a week or two.
very nice that Vanquish, and the spectacular video
Thank you!
Nice first look of the new rig.
Thanks!
Personally saw this truck over the weekend and it does really look great :) even with the kit tires !
The kit tires are surprisingly good! Stickiest compound I've seen in awhile.
Yep, making it more irresistible! Great vid!
That's my job! No, wait, it isn't. I work at the box factory.
Awesome Video and Explanation, Glad to have seen this rig at Berkeley Scale Adventure Park this past weekend, Yup Ordering One LOL, was nice to meet you on weekend Cheers
Right on! Glad that people got to see it and appreciate it in person.
Alrighty thank you so much!
I'm Diabetic, so I can't sell a Kidney to get one...... 😞
I think Vanquish did a great job, on a Rig for the Elite Class. It will be fun to see it in action.
Matt, great job as always!! 👏👏👏👍👍
Carmine 💥⛽
Thanks Carmine!
That paint job is amazing
Thanks Kyle!
I realize this is an old video but I just stepped up to vanquish kits! Recently finished a vs410 pro…half cab truck.
Absolutely love the truck and was a breeze to build…very impressed with the quality and precision of the chassis and detail of the body for a lexan style….all in all vanquish kits aren’t that much more money by the time someone buys a rtr Traxxas or axial and upgrade everything !
Not a whole lot of upgrading needed with vanquish…….
In fact I love these trucks so much I ordered a “Trucks of freedom” mystery box! On its way!😊
Very cool! I love Vanquish too, and I was really happy with my Trucks of Freedom mystery box... Have fun!
@@scalebuildersguild after building both my vanquish rigs I noticed your logo in the sticker bundle! Pretty cool and I’ll be putting them somewhere on my rigs! Lol
I take it you’re affiliated in the build concept or somehow involved with the design of some of these rigs?
The hating in the scale and crawl scene is mind bogling. nice video.
Sure is. But I tend to not care about the haters. I'm in this to have fun. And boy, do I!
Nice review of the Vanquish rig definitely something to save up for 💵 Nice job on the body 👍
Thanks very much!
Can't wait to get one on my bench.
It was a very easy build to put together, like it was meant to go together! ;)
Fantastic vid my friend. Great truck 🙂👌🙂👌
Thanks very much!
Scale Builder's Guild your welcome my friend 😁😊😁😊
Woohoo 🙌
Ordered mine last nite 😍
Right on! You won't be disappointed!
Matt, great video as always. I am super excited about the VS4-10. I feel like it’s a ‘Budget’ Ripper, if there were such a thing. I can’t wait to see how it performs and can’t wait to get mine.
It’s about time for another build off isn’t it? 🤔
Ha! Shortest budget build ever. Week one, I spend all the budget! Week two, truck done! Ha!
Great work love the channel
Will be very hard for other companies to beat that kit looking forwards to getting the kit in the near future
It's pretty amazing out of the box. At some point, I might try other tires and wheels, but that's it!
This one is a bargain compared to everything out there, brilliant move from Vanquish. AWESOME.!!!!!
It really is as good as the hype. Thanks for watching!
Stunning
Sure is!
Very nice truck but my budget won't allow this truck to be purchased all at once. That being said , I've got about $1500 in my TRX4. But that was stretched out over the past year since it was purchased. This is one truck I will definitely put on a "save for" list. Beautiful truck. Glad to see a Scout on the market.
That's the thing that I struggle with. Do I upgrade over time, or bite the bullet and spend all at one time. It all depends on my Paypal budget! ;)
Top quality video for top quality rig!
Thanks!
It would be awesome if at some point you made a video on crawler tire comparisons and explain what a certain tire is used for because I know you have tons of tires just sitting in a drawer somewhere lol. Maybe just pick the top ones that are most popular or something. Still enjoying all the awesome videos!! This new vanquish build looks awesome!!
Sure, I could definitely do that. I've used all kinds all over the planet. Thanks for the suggestion!
I also love your logo and channel name
I'm so stoked to have the black version now.
Not sure if I should put the pitbull rock beasts xl (4.8ish) or the regular (4.5ish). One is smaller one is bigger. I got it with 4.75 swampers... they rub a little for sure.
Awesome kit
It sure is!
Very cool sir 👍🏻 great vid 🙃 Nice truck🤤
Thanks!
I absolutely have no problem with the cost. I built Vanguish Rock-Jock and that was $700+. To get a complete rig with the best stuff on the market minus the electronic's for less than $900 is a good deal.
Great video....always love the comedic parts(movie clips).
I'm actually more inclined to buy the Vanguish portals first.
Will the kit axles be available in black?
Yes, there is good value here. Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad folks find me entertaining. Kit only comes in clear anodized as far as I know.
Love this truck! I would prefer this than the Traxxas UDR!
Agreed. This is a much better option Matteo. Please tell me you'll pre-order one! It will feel right at home where you tiny truck!
Great review ;) This truck is just plain sexy and I had to preorder it.
Btw. I'm not sure about the springs being soft? I've got 2 pairs of the incision shocks on my rigs and the springs look like the medium ones... the soft ones have got more winds.
Looking forward to the running vids! Thanks for the insights Matt!
Thanks, welcome to the family! Yes, the shocks shown here are the Medium weight spring. The kit will include the softer ones.
Absolutely beautiful truck!! Sounds like the perfect build. What do you think about the tekin servos? You did a great job on the video as always, can't wait to see more. Later
Thanks, it's a very fun build and excellent kit. The Tekin servo performed flawlessly, plenty strong and very, very quiet!
My next buy for sure, when ya gonna show off the Marlin crawler updates? Its lookin good in the background.
Marlene will get her own video shortly!
wow this might set the bar up there along with my traction hobby founder. I might snag this one up..
I am not familiar with the Traction Hobby truck, but after seeing this comment I did some research. I'd still put the engineering in the VS4 above that of the Traction truck. But I'd like to see one in person!
Have you seen my Founder build turned out real nice I’ve got some flat iron 2.2’s ready to be put on also
I'll check out your channel.
Great build man what color is that?
thanks for sharing happy bashing bud.
That’s a cool looking truck
Sure is!
BADASS!!
Indeed it is!
Very cool !
Sure is!
Nice review! Idea of scale rig that you don't have to performance upgrade is interesting. But how about tire foams/inserts? I assume that you don't have to upgrade these either?
They're pretty spectacular right out of the box. I wouldn't switch them unless you're loyal to another company.
Vanquish make the nicest stuff
They sure do. And bulletproof!
Wow 👍🏻 very nice truck😃. Wandering.... Does the body come with predrilled body post holes? I hope not. ✌🏻👊🏻
It does for the kit. Perhaps if they offer it separate, it won't.
I didn't know it had an interior and inner fenders! That makes me very happy. I ordered mine a couple of days ago. Do the body holes come pre-drilled so I'm going to have to fill them in with the Bondic pen, or did you have to drill them out? I was excited to get it before, but after watching this I'm super duper psyched!!!! Anyone who complains about the price, with everything this comes with, is pretty clueless about how this hobby works. lol Dan told me I could drive his at KNK; I can't wait to see this there as well. :D
Yes, body and post holes come pre-cut from what I understand. Considering I put the first scratches on it already, I'll probably let others try it out too.
I heard you say injection molded quite a few times.. even on shock towers.. for a kit this expensive that supposed to be the best of the best I don't like hearing a lot of injection molded plastic shock towers and lexan inner fenders with no electronics. Lol That body is really nice and I'm really digging the paint job.
Hold judgement until you see this plastic in person. I think it makes sense for some parts to be injection molded, and as a by-product, it allows a higher volume of product to be available right out of the gate. It's a kit after all, so there shouldn't be electronics. Thanks for the feedback!
Scale Builder's Guild I guess after thinking about it and remembering the 16 week honcho budget build that produced a $1129 dollar rig, I think the vanquish kit seems a little more reasonable sinc peoples gonna upgrade stock rigs anyway. I just wasnt expecting plastic shock towers. Especially since vanquish is in the business of metal towers.
This thing is badass , your a very lucky bugger to have one
SBG worked with Vanquish since nearly the beginning. We're very honored to be a part of the process.
I really hope they offer those axles separately soon! And in black!
I wonder if they will... Whatever chassis you'd put them on would require some pretty high clearance for that pumpkin.
Dammmm. This def would be something I would pick up when the funds are in the budget. Worth the money if your serious in the hobby.
All of this is true. Thanks for watching!
thanks for that.
Anytime!
Thanks for this nice informative video about the VS4-10. Looks like one durable truck! No link appears in the video around 7:58 when you talk about Josh's video. I would like to have a link to it please.
As soon as he posts it, I'll add a card!
Thank you! I'll be watching your video again right now :)
Awesome Video!! Wishing I could afford this truck... but 1 question... What is the wheel base?
Thanks, 12.3". I'm pretty sure I say that in the video.
Scale Builder's Guild I rewatched this awesome video. Sorry Sir. I never heard 12.3 wheelbase. But with that said. Love the video. And love 12.3 wheel base that opens the body options!
I was waiting for you to do a video before I checked out the truck. Do you know if some of the parts like the tires will be available separately?
My understanding is yes. Later.
That's still not clear to me. I believe that certain parts will be available separately down the road.
Great review. 2 questions. How much does it weigh? Secondly, have you ever tries running the VP portal axles and what are your takes between these 2?
6.8 pounds with electronics installed. I have not tried the portal axles. They're on my list for another build.
Scale Builder's Guild thanks for the reply. contempleting between the two
If I could pick it up today, I would be at my local hobby shop right now.
Is it July yet?! ;)
are the strips painted on or are they decals that come with the kit? just wondering i have my truck coming in the mail soon, and so excited about this build!
All paint. Decals are included, but I don't think there's any stripes.
I don't think you ever added a link to Josh/Harley's video as you stated you would.
Is that a Scout 2 International???? O man I must get one and maybe Go E word for a little bit?? I miss and wished I had my old mans 1980 International scout 2 Diesel! I would need a push bumper and rear spare tire rack and metal fuel tank !
It's Scout-adjacent. ;)
Scale Builder's Guild wow 😲 I must get one now just because of that! The back kind a looks like a bronco a little and I can’t stand that but maybe if they sell a rear wheel rack and a gas can it will hide it a little and it will look more like the truck my old man used to have I I grew up with? Where would I be able to find accessories for this like those that I want and a push bar bumper and side view mirrors??
Just about any bumper designed for an SCX10 chassis will work. RC4WD, RPP, are great places to start. Make sure to check the dimensions and mounts before buying anything.
Scale Builder's Guild 👍🤝👊💥💥
John you can mount nitro motor just let it idle while crawling 😆
Would you recommend putting that under the 1985 4Runner body, or get the the trail finder Marlin Crawler? Where is you money better spent?
I think you'd have fitment issues with the interior and center mount transmission in the VS4, which isn't to say it's impossible.
very nice ... to nice
Things are never, too nice.
I just started my build, and I am using the same Tekin electronics (T360 servo, RX4 and ROC412 EP 3100kv). I received mine with the upgraded braces; however, there is no clearance between the servo horn and the chassis rails (horn actually hits the underside of the rail). Did you have to change the servo horn from the one Tekin provided? It looks like the servo horn needs to angle away from the servo to provide proper clearance, something like racing buggies use (i.e. TLR).
Yes, the Tekin horn will hit the chassis. A Vanquish horn will not!
@@scalebuildersguild Thanks again, Matt. As always, very helpful. I have a Vanquish horn ordered.
what would I have to do if I'm lifting my scx10 ii trail honcho with 110mm shocks? would I have to mess with the steering?
Not sure I can help you Carlo, never been into the lifted look. Links might have to get longer, or shock mounts higher?
How does the vs4 10 compare to the trx4. Thanks for the great videos. Keep rocking
I don't really think there's much comparison. The TRX is heavier, more complicated, and has more failure points. This truck is set up to be competitive out of the box. The TRX requires a lot of modifying to get to that point. Straight up trail-truck, I'd probably go TRX out of these two. The best of everything in a very competitive package, easily the VS4.
Thanks for your response and help keep rocking my friend
would love a deep comparison to pro/ultra/origin.
You mentioned people running different bodies, is the wheel base adjustable???
And do they make a right hand drive version for us people down under on the bottom the earth?
Left hand drive only! Wheelbase is 12.3", so many aftermarket bodies will fit without changing anything. Other body posts are included.
So the trucks been out for a bit. What's everyone (who owns one) actually think compared to the axial scx10 2?
Thank you!
It's like a very high-end SCX10 II with better geometry and capability - in my opinion.
Would I be possible to use two steering servos using two of the short steering bars?
Maybe, but why? Definitely sounds like overkill.
Hi Matt. Awesome insight on the vs4-10. Is it worth it though? Would you recommend this kit over a stock scx10ii chassis kit and building it up or would you suggest to go and buy the vs4-10 instead?
Thanks
At this point I’d recommend the VS4-10 Pro. The Origin is no longer in production.
Thanks matt. would you say that in the longrun the vs4-10 would be a better investment than getting a scx10ii and upgrading with vanquish parts?
Ive built a couple of rigs previously but ive been out of the hobby for a couple of years. Would appreciate your advise on this
Cheers
@@allentianco4395 Do a little arithmetic and you'll find it's much cheaper in the long run to buy the Pro, rather than upgrade an scx10ii.
Was thinking of that. Thanks again
Do you think they'll sell the body separate. I broke down and got the SCX 10 ll deadbolt, plan on getting interchangeable bodies for each, and really can't afford any more. Yes I agree, that is a Scout, Broncos have a dip down from the front fenders.
I imagine they will sell the body at some point.
Scale Builder's Guild i hope they do
What is the steering angle?
Some of the components look similar to generation 1 and 2 SCX10’s. Does it feel kind of like an Axial kit with Vanquish upgrades or are there enough differences to make it unique?
The price tag is quite high given there are no electronics included. To get this truck rolling will push the initial price into a four digit range. I’m wondering if the price point may inhibit sales or if they’re marketing this kit for the die hard scaler/trail truck/crawler demographic. 🤔
Steering angle is the same as any other Vanquish axle product. Tons. If you were to buy all the VP upgrades for your current truck the pricing would be high. It's designed for those that want the best of everything VP has to offer all in one cohesive package.
Do they make an over and under drive beveled gear set for this and can I fit a vanquish dog system in it or does it have to be modified to fit.
OD/UD I don't think so, but there's a lot of aftermarket guys that do. Dig will fit without trouble.
Scale Builder's Guild Thanks for your response.
Will it fit the vs10 pro
This is gonna be a killer rig, but for the money, I dunno, I think I just expect more... maybe an actual, licensed Scout body... maybe aluminum beadlocks over plastic... maybe I’m just jealous coz I won’t be able to make myself buy one. I mean you’re gonna be at $1100 at minimum to get it RTR. I have 2 TRX4s (Deffender and Bronco), and I’m only at $900 for the pair (both are stock)...
This is not for everyone, that's for sure. But, you get what you pay for. It performs incredibly well with limited tuning out of the box. Getting an International licence would be beyond hard, as they don't have a civilian division any more.
See you at KNK ttc!!!
We'll be there!
Matt, does it need the 3100? That seems to be a fast motor for crawling.
Nope, it doesn't, but I like the wheelspeed when needed. Modern brushless sensored systems are capable of extremely low RPM's so you can still get the controlled crawl if necessary. That said, for a recent comp, you could only run brushed, so I swapped to a 35T Tekin and it performed very well. It really comes down to your personal preference.
Scale Builder's Guild thanks!
I know my Pro Puller 3500 is a speedy beast on 3s. Thinking more at a 2700 stubby, thoughts ?
ok so I cant find nothing to compare this one to the Ultra can you please help me on understanding the difference in the 2 this one looks like a longer wheel base but that could just be the body idk lol
You can’t buy the Origin any longer, so a more accurate comparison would be the Pro. The Pro has a few more metal parts in the transmission and no portals. Those are the two major differences.
If I saw this before I bought my trx4 Bronco. I would have bought this.
I already have all the electronics for it,including a sensored bl Holmes Trailmaster pro motor and sensored Castle esc. 🤔
Bummer!
Are you still making and selling those fairleads are they really $26 do you have any currently made up that you could just ship quick?
Yes, they're always being made, as long as Shapeways is still in business. Sorry, I don't hold stock on them. Get one here: www.shapeways.com/product/UV7NNUL28/vanquish-vs4-ripper-winch-fairlead?optionId=66871354
Hi Matt, What receiver box did you use?
I used a spare Bomber one I had!
This looks like a competitive comp rig out of the box, minus a few items. Would it qualify for class 1?
Also, will this truck improve my driving?🤔
Dan Terborg with smaller tires it definitely is a C1 contender. Will be hard to reach the 60 point max most venues are using now though. Would have to wheel it like a champ.
Yes, it's very competitive and would make for an excellent C1 or C2. You'd have to make up some points and get smaller tires for C1, but it's possible! And I'm pretty sure it does make for improved driving skill. ;)
Would be cool to see the ripper chassis bolted to that origin. $$$$$$$$$$$.
Wouldn't work, the Ripper is built on the Axial chassis.
Wow Vanquish covered a ton on this truck. Wouldn't you say the price of this truck, even with all that it comes with is for the elite? However that doesn't take away from it's brilliance. Excellent review👌#69
I'm not sure I'd say that it's for the elite. That sounds a bit elitist. I think if the average, serious hobby guy looked at what they spent on upgrades to their last truck, they might be surprised to find that this comes in lower than that.
Scale Builder's Guild You make a interesting point so if the same theory is applied to this rig we are talking a $1000 RC. Maybe elite wasn't the appropriate word. Ultimately I wish I could afford it.☣
Matt, exactly that’s my reason, hope I’m correct. Can’t wait for you and Josh to run !
