That's my fear of what could happen. I don't mind religion when someone is just raised in it but only views it superficially, kind of as something sort of cultural and doesn't take it too seriously. I myself have had some fond memories of going to church and making friends but even then, it was just a methodist church that was very liberal and the topic of most sermons was about being inclusive. Most everyone understood that the bible was written my men thousands of years ago and none went around discussing religion, even when we'd get together socially. But when I see a christian bringing a bible to work to read on their break, a jewish women covering her hair with a wig, or a muslim with a burqa, it makes me feel uneasy. That demonstrates to me they consider themselves a "devout" christian, muslim or jew. When someone is devoutly religious, that means they're trying to live their lives as closely to their torah, quran, bible as possible. Those books, within its pages condone hate, misogyny, murder, pedophilia, slavery, abuse, homophobia, incest, anti-science, etc. They believe in an eternal hell fire where you'll be banished forever for simply not believing in their god. Many humans are so much kinder than their gods. Here in the U.S. we don't punish people according to those books because they're unjust. Its because the video was uploaded. And yes their should be exceptions, if you where a christian and part of that faith was to wear a turban you should be able to do that and no different with a Sikh.
Antonio Kinsey you might not be aware of sikh laws .. Sikhism don't recognise a person as a sikh if he don't keep his articles of faith(its a basic uniform of a sikh) their r 5 and one of them is to not to cut your hairs and beard. so if u are asking a sikh to cut, trim or shave his head or beard you basically forcing him to leave his religion. and according to US constitution a person can follow any faith they want. so it is illegal, not allowing a person to practice his/her religion. coming to Muslim and other religions.. if don't wear a hijab or keep a beard, u still are a Muslim. Islam still recognise you as a Muslim. thats why military may ask Muslims to shave (recently Indian air force denied Muslims to keep beard on religion grounds as they still can be Muslims even if they shave their beard) but that don't work with Sikhism. asking a Sikh to shave or cut his hairs is denying him/her his fundamental right to practice any religion they want as by shaving they no longer be a Sikh. their religion will not recognise them as a Sikh. army can either say 'no Sikh can join army' or should respect the constitution and allow Sikhs to keep their religion. and speaking of their ability to work america is not the only country where Sikhs are in army ..they are in Indian army,British army, Canadian army and list goes on.. they have been awarded the highest gallantry awards by many of those nations ..and Sikhs did that while wearing the turban and sporting that beard.
America would never allow a Christian or jew or Muslim to have a beard in the army. This is discrimination for anyone who wants one but has been told no or kicked out for having one.
1. When you find a branch of Christianity where you HAVE to have a beard come to me. 2. When you find a branch of Sikhism that DOESNT require you to have a beard, come to me.
This man is wearing a beard because some liberal military judge is allowing it probably to please the Obama Admin and keep the $$ coming in. Once Trump's in power, he'll be asked to shave it all or kicked out!
Cole Tanner yes because Sikhism don't recognise a person as a sikh who dont wear 5 articles of faith ( it basic uniform for a sikh) one of them is not to cut hair or shave or trim beard. so if army ask a sikh to shave and cut their hairs they basically asking him to leave his religion. which is not legally right according to US constitution which allows anyone to practice any religion they want..so army cannot deny anyone his/her fundamental rights how it is different from allowing a Christian, jew or a Muslim .well u still can be a catholic, jew or a Muslim even if u dont keep a beard or cut your hairs..so if army ask u to shave they are not doing anything illegal according to the US constitution's provision which allows someone to practice any religion. army can say 'no Sikhs will be allowed to join service' or they can respect the constitution and allow sikh to serve their nation while keeping their religion
Rhea Merrell dear Sikhism don't says god is only ours .. Sikhism allows anyone to join them in their prayers and read the scriptures and even reach god or find a inner peace with it nd u dont have to be a sikh to do any of that u can even maintain which even faith u practice or even if u dont have any religion faith , u can come to gurdawars, read nd do your prayers or services or enjoy the meal but that doesn't make u a sikh. perhaps you didn't read the rules . Sikhism have a proper consultation its called 'rehat mariyada' in simple example you can love your army, their history may even visit army base and enjoy a meal in the army mess, enjoy their air shows etc etc army don't ask your to join them for any of that but that don't mean u a army person unless u join the army and u put on a proper uniform.
Rhea's already proven my point all the other religions that require a beard are required to shave or not join. This is preferential treatment and discrimination against all those Rhea listed who too wear a beard for their religion.
A Muslim that fights for his faith, is a Captain in the United States Army, and has gone to Jump School as the other patch i can't see, but this is my type of guy.
Furthermore Sikh beliefs are in tuned with the US Constitution and Science as well. Our ideology is wayyyyyyyy different than Muslim ideology. Good luck in your career.
I disagree on this issue. You conform to the Army. The Army doesn't conform to you. You shouldn't be allowed to pick, and choose which part of AR 670-1 you feel like following.
Anthony Abila well a judge disagreed and made the army conform. No army law is above constitution in a democracy. Its a good thing, freedom which American constitution gives is reflected here. Idk why so many Americans see this in a bad way, and think something wrong is being done. And its particularly funny as american are the one who brag bout freedom and democracy the most. Americans should be showing this as an example of their freedom while bragging about freedom and all because it actually is a very good example of your freedom. Its example as good as one of your big dinner in which you celebrate freedom of press and mock and make fun of president on his face, showing even he is not beyond the reach of freedom of speech and press.
Actually there were many Muslims who fought in the US army. There were many Iraqi military units that fought alongside US units in Iraq. There are many Muslim soldiers that serve the US Army in non combat roles like JAG, Medical and Logistics.

Islam still recognise you as a Muslim. thats why military may ask Muslims to shave (recently Indian air force denied Muslims to keep beard on religion grounds as they still can be Muslims even if they shave their beard)
but that don't work with Sikhism.
asking a Sikh to shave or cut his hairs is denying him/her his fundamental right to practice any religion they want as by shaving they no longer be a Sikh. their religion will not recognise them as a Sikh.
army can either say 'no Sikh can join army' or should respect the constitution and allow Sikhs to keep their religion.
and speaking of their ability to work america is not the only country where Sikhs are in army ..they are in Indian army,British army, Canadian army and list goes on.. they have been awarded the highest gallantry awards by many of those nations ..and Sikhs did that while wearing the turban and sporting that beard.
Curious about how to use a gas mask with a turban and beard...looks cool as hell tho
i cant see his turban wth
Tactical turban
Really
Is that turban guy death or not
he’s hot

America would never allow a Christian or jew or Muslim to have a beard in the army. This is discrimination for anyone who wants one but has been told no or kicked out for having one.
1. When you find a branch of Christianity where you HAVE to have a beard come to me.
2. When you find a branch of Sikhism that DOESNT require you to have a beard, come to me.
This man is wearing a beard because some liberal military judge is allowing it probably to please the Obama Admin and keep the $$ coming in. Once Trump's in power, he'll be asked to shave it all or kicked out!
Cole Tanner yes because Sikhism don't recognise a person as a sikh who dont wear 5 articles of faith ( it basic uniform for a sikh) one of them is not to cut hair or shave or trim beard.
so if army ask a sikh to shave and cut their hairs they basically asking him to leave his religion. which is not legally right according to US constitution which allows anyone to practice any religion they want..so army cannot deny anyone his/her fundamental rights
how it is different from allowing a Christian, jew or a Muslim .well u still can be a catholic, jew or a Muslim even if u dont keep a beard or cut your hairs..so if army ask u to shave they are not doing anything illegal according to the US constitution's provision which allows someone to practice any religion.
army can say 'no Sikhs will be allowed to join service' or they can respect the constitution and allow sikh to serve their nation while keeping their religion
Sikhism have a proper consultation its called 'rehat mariyada'
in simple example you can love your army, their history may even visit army base and enjoy a meal in the army mess, enjoy their air shows etc etc army don't ask your to join them for any of that but that don't mean u a army person unless u join the army and u put on a proper uniform.
Rhea's already proven my point all the other religions that require a beard are required to shave or not join. This is preferential treatment and discrimination against all those Rhea listed who too wear a beard for their religion.
They need a their own country..
ali99 _
surrender ur pak punjab to sikh den talk
Why did he grow
this guy is pretty SIHK
A Muslim that fights for his faith, is a Captain in the United States Army, and has gone to Jump School as the other patch i can't see, but this is my type of guy.
Just to clarify this is a Sikh not muslim.
Well than thank you for correcting my mistake
Its example as good as one of your big dinner in which you celebrate freedom of press and mock and make fun of president on his face, showing even he is not beyond the reach of freedom of speech and press.
neat
Here's a REAL AMERICAN PUTTING HIS COUNTRY BEFORE RELIGION TAKE a note Islam
Actually there were many Muslims who fought in the US army. There were many Iraqi military units that fought alongside US units in Iraq.
There are many Muslim soldiers that serve the US Army in non combat roles like JAG, Medical and Logistics.
+Matthew Wade Muslim women soldiers ?
***** people would try to take a sswing at us muslims just because they can, many of us are not extremists or fundamentalists or blinded by hatred.
