I love this receiver, very dynamic sound.
I have the A402 integrated amp which is identical to the 730 except the tuner section!

Your original video convinced me to buy this receiver when I found it on Craigslist a few months ago. I paid next to nothing for a recapped unit. Harman Kardon: for when you can’t afford a Marantz. It’s an excellent unit. Some people said the phono stage was lacking, but it sounds great to me.

Very nice receiver . I almost got one for 100$ a year ago..was 20mins late on responding to the ad . I still want one.. it’s a must have for my collection.

I have one and a 430 too. Very nice strong bass. Very warm sound, pleasing. I agree, the loudness is not necessary. If you LOVE bass, this is the receiver for you. 40 Watts sound like 80 or 90. Don't be fooled! This is very powerful!

I went ahead and pulled out the cash for this receiver based on this channel's reviews. Let me tell you, it sounds excellent. Totally worth the money to have it re-capped and brought back up to spec. I have it paired with my Infinity RS5B's and HPM100's The infinity's for jazz and vocals are a great pair. Sweet highs and good stereo separation. Tight punchy bass. And when I finally go them positioned correctly. the one thing i was always hearing about, happened: The speakers disappeared. Meaning, the sound was coming from everywhere. The center the back, the sides. It was definitely a moment in my audio journey that I'll never forget.
When i paired them with the 100's, I mainly use them for EDM and good ol fashioned rock and let me tell you, they pack quite a punch. The stand up bass...oh man, you can hear the finger pluck the stand up bass on Flight of the Cosmic Hippo.
These units can go toe to toe with ANY marantz and pioneer. Get them now, because they cost less than any of the other more well known units and I have no idea why. As cliche as it sounds, i feel like the saying is true, this baby punches well above it's weight class.
I only have the 730, but many others have said any of the X30 series are worth the price.
Some of the forums i have read repeatedly state, these pair well with Klipsch heritage speakers.

Hey Rich, I just picked up a HK930+. in excellent cosmetic condition. Functions but scratchy and weak. Do you know of anyone that can recap/restore it? Appreciate it!! Robert

No 70s Marantz or pioneer (even top of the line) can touch this receiver for sound big mistake to sell . Lot rarer and value is only going one way.

They actually have speaker relays, it's just a different set up.
I used my Harman Kardon HK-730 yesterday and today after a year, because I installed new Speaker Binding posts, to accept Banana plugs.
I still can't believe how muscular it sounds to be rated at just 40 watts per channel, it sounds more like 140 watts/per channel to be honest and it never runs out of steam, even with large speakers at high volumes. It must be the 2 transformers and high current that makes this receiver sound so powerful and muscular.
On highfidelityreview.com the publication says that the 40 watts per channel is a modest rating, with modern measurement methods they are capable of producing 90 Dynamic watts (RMS) per channel with 8 ohm speakers. And they can even handle 2 ohm loads with no fuss.
I have a Sansui and a Marantz receiver too, both rated at a much higher watts per channel that this receiver, but this receiver sounds more powerful.
This is my favorite receiver, it sounds clean, powerful, smooth, the sound is warm, but is full with no emphasis on bass, midrange or treble, it has kind of like a tube sound into it.
I test it it with my Magnepans LRS and original Elac Uni-Fi , which are difficult to drive and it can handle them really well at more than acceptable loud volume.
You will have to spend a lot of money now-a-days to match this level of sound!

Good sound for its age I think it about the same as my Sanyo 2 piece Hi Fi that I had that beat MOST modern Amps to day for sure . no need for any BASS BOST as they are tuned very well , not many are these days .
Most bass boosters are useless as they do not go deep at all , GUTLESS
Keep your eye out for Sanyo , they have that rich refined sound that we can not get anymore .

Man you actually think Harman Kardon is going to make a receiver without a protection, it's set up differently. I have owned many Harman Kardon, my speakers are never in danger. You should have researched first
