  • Hello RUclipsrs! A special hello to my fellow PRELOADERS! For those of you that aren't PRELOADERS yet, hit that subscribe button and become one. This video covers Practice Session #11 and was held on February 21, 2021. We had good weather and even better practicing! We also had a lot of fun! So if you'd like to join us for some entertainment or to maybe pick up a few skill lessons, grab a comfortable chair and watch Robert, David, Deanndra, Tom, Garnett and Keeley practice , on our quest to be the Boss of our motorcycles!👍🏾😄
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
    PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
    What does PRELOAD mean?
    PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

Hello Robert. As I sit here watching this video I am also looking out my window at a snow storm. Newfoundland Canada does not have your weather that you are so lucky to have. To watch your videos and see sunshine is up lifting. I have watched many of your videos and enjoy watching. Watching people make mistakes will only help me to avoid making them myself. In your case you are trying to help rides to become better riders. If they take just one thing from the lessons I am sure you accomplished your mission. I Thank you for your time helping others and myself. In closing, to the people who leave negative comments why do you watch these videos. You can just go to the next You Tube video and take your negativity with you. Don’t criticize Robert for trying his best to pass on his knowledge onto others weather or not his way is the best or not. Thank you Robert for your time and effort

Regarding the negative comments, I appreciate your comments. This channel is filled with so much positivity, I will never give someone that leaves a negative comment a second of my time with a response. I’d rather devote that time to my Preloaders!! Robert, finally i'm a preloader too. Never saw in Switzerland any kind of teaching like yours. I'm a newby, riding only for 1 year now and I've got to do fundamental exams here to take my final driving licence. Here in Switzerland the exams consist in left turn, figure 8, offset cone. Now I'm sure that I've understood my previous errors and I BELIEVE i can do better and go through the exams. Maybe, pandemic ended, I can fly to Georgia to take practice with you in person. Trust and BELIEVE. Thanks Robert!

LT, I was out riding last night and I couldn't believe how many times I had to make slow u-turns on these streets in Angeles City, Philippines. I took a picture of you with your hands raised. As I was making these unplanned u-turns; without stopping and then turning, I kept repeating as much as I could remember you saying, " The key is where you have throttle and clutch while going straight, that's where it stays for the u-turn. Just turn and lean. Everything else stays the same". The first time I successfully made u-turn following your training I had to do it a full three times because I needed to go back and pick up my heart off of the damn highway lol. I can't believe I said to my motorcyle, who's the boss now switch!? Every time I'm riding Filipinos are watching me on my big bike. So now I am working on showing them my bike don't boss me anymore. ...slowly, loo, I am not the boss yet, but I'm surely working on it my Brother.
I'll be 75 yo in April and this so much reminds me of my training days as a 30 year US Marine. Thanks for the person dedication you and your wife put into your training sessions. God bless both of you.

Hi Robert, and greetings from Minnesota. Up here, our riding season isn’t as long as we would like it to be, and I for one am anxious to get my knees in the breeze again. I got my first street legal bike at the age of 16 and I’ve been riding for over 30 years now.
I wasn’t looking for a “rider improvement” video when I happened upon this one, and I almost skipped it to go on to the next video, whatever it might have been. But for some reason, I started watching, and I’m glad I did. From the comfort of my recliner, I listened to what you had to say, and I watched as the participants in your class grew more confident and capable. For advanced riders, some of the principals you went over are pretty basic, but even I came away with a few tips that I feel will improve my riding skills.
I hope to make it to Savanah some day, and possibly participate in one of your classes.
    Sincerely, Derek

Another great session! Nice that you brought in the approaching rear avoidance. The queue that works for me in the double serp is to "finish the turn before I get to the gate". That way I try to be straight (diagonal) going through and then teardrop the next. We all have our own ways of thinking about it. Not sure if it helps or not.

Thank you for your interest in helping riders become better riders
I started watching the "I took the Ride like a Pro" class video then fell asleep.
I was happy to see you took Jerry class and that you posted it. I have been watching his videos for a couple years and he was the first channel I subscribed to your is the second.
I have watched a few other channels although some are really good and informative they dont really spark the improvement interest for me like yours and Jerry videos do.
You and Jerry say one thing that is soo true and some dont believe
No matter how much experience a rider has there is always room for improvement
I try to pass this information to other riders and I pass a couple of Ride Like a pro disks when there excepted. Seems odd that so many dont want them. But then if they dont want them I am more then happy to keep them and give them to someone that does. And the funny part is when they take off I can see that they need some practice.
I am a self taught rider Oh yah I can ride fast and make the bank turns I thought I was a good rider until I tried some of the tasks that Jerry showed in his videos. I went form a 7 or 8 to a novice. I needed to get some slow speed skills. Those riders that dont except the disks dont now what their missing. For one thing improving their riding skills and 2 the best part is that practicing these tasks is fun riding.
You and Jerry teach that practice improves your skills makes you a better safer rider and it is freaking fun.
Looking forward to your next video and in the comments below I noticed that someone called you "The Preload Preacher " That would make a cool t shirt

Thank you so much for your videos. Can't wait for the day when we may be able to visit. Oh, and question.....on uphill stops at lights, is it okay to use the front brake and both feet on the ground? I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile!
Regarding the front brake on an uphill. It's even more important to use the rear brake in that situation because you don't want the motorcycle rolling backwards at all. If you are using the front brake to keep the motorcycle from rolling back, you have to release it in order to throttle (PRELOAD & KEEP IT LOADED!!). Using the rear brake allows you to properly do this without the motorcycle rolling backwards at all.👍🏾

Maybe I missed something but is there a difference for this type of motorcycles for what brake you use? I see the rear brake being used to come to s complete stop and to take of again.
Here we are teached to only use the rear brake for like 20% of your stopping power and when coming to a complete stop you have to release the rear brake because you really need to keep the weight and pressure on the front tire and because you dont really need it and you can't put your left foot down because you need to maintain gear pressure incase you need to take off quickly again and it might pop in nutral sometimes.
Here in Europe and especialy the Netherlanda we have much harder and better driving classes and exams and it takes hours and hours to master en most people need like 6 months of weekly training or more. We need to take 2 exams, verhicle control doing emergency stops, U-turns in a single lane space going above 15km/h , evasive maneuvres above 50km/h, figure 8's in a single lane space going above 15km/h and so on and so on. After you masterd that one you can go for the normal traffic exam.
The rearbrake is mostly used voor dragging it in slowspeed maneuvres like firuge 8's, U-turns in a single lane of space, slowspeed zigzags thrue cones, in slowspeed turns and while riding on a walking pase.
I owned multiple bikes, nakeds sports en offroads (so noth the types in the video) and even without abs, if you know how to aply pressure, you kan easily use the entire range of the frontbrake lever on high or low speeds. No mather the wheater conditions you can even make a stoppie in the rain if you wanted to if you just know how to build up the pressure smoothly and your tires are in good shape.
I ride on a daily basis and I make a lot of miles in the rain sometimes forgetting I even have a rear brake lol.
