Every country has their own beauty standards., but it not that strict. The Korean standards are another level & unforgiving. But there will be someone who will break the mould & stand out. That will become the new standards. Every ten years the beauty standards will change, due to the new generation. So there is hope.

I find Lee Soo Hyuk incredibly attractive, in fact he makes me weak at the knees and makes my heart pound. Everything about him is gorgeous from his head to his toes, his walk and his beautiful deep voice are the cherries on the most delicious cake ever made. I first saw him as Gwi the vampire in Scholar who Walks the Night and I was smitten straight away, and he’s still my number one love. Seeing him in “Tomorrow” in his dark suit and white shirt on his knees with his hands bound gives me chest pains… mmmmm

Oh my god I agree with Seo Inguk. Not about him thinking he sometimes looks ugly, cause we all do honey, but about him having a weird charm. To this day I have no idea what draws me in so much. I’ve started watching K-Drama on Netflix and one thing for sure: I can distinguish Park So Dam and Kim Go Eun immediately (along with a few other female actors like Bae Doona, EL and Esom). Why? Because they don’t have the cookie-cutter faces of actresses apparently live up to the Korean beauty standard. Seriously, many of them look alike to my Western eyes. I’ve also watched a few Kpop female groups and the only one I am able to identify consistently would be Hwasa of Mamamoo. If I would be asked to pick out these women in a room full of Korean female actors or Kpop idols, I would be able to do so. The others? I’d be hard pressed to distinguish one face from another. These ridiculous beauty standards are forcing many women to change their faces thereby losing the qualities that make them unique and special.

Even when I see idol groups other than mamamoo, I tend to choose idols from another countries as the only visual I like because they aren't only pretty but also unique compared to another (Korean) members. Even my Asian eyes find unique features more appealing than faces that perfectly fit beauty standards because I've seen them too much. And I'm not a big fan of some agencies because they tend to choose idols with similar faces and even put on similar makeup on their idols. I hate trying too hard just to identify them, so I usually look for idol groups with 7 or less members and distinctive features, at least between members in that group. For example, all of RBW's idols (including Mamamoo).

I saw Lee Soo-hyuk, Soo in-guk Kang Tae-oh (I first saw him on Run-on), like sooooo many amazing men in that drama was too much for me. It was in Doom At Your Service. The story line itself wasn't that interesting but the male leads and the the second couple leads looks soo amazing I watchedit for the three of them and Park Bo-young's humour.
I am glad I am not the only who wasn't that into Doom at your service. I just watched for Lee Soo-hyuk, but the ML and FL had no chemistry at all and they dragged each other down. FL had more chemistry with Lee Soo-hyuk's character.
As someone who apparently looks like Lee SooHyuk (according to friends) I'm very glad lol. Defined cheekbones and hight nosebridge conbined with a sharp J-line aren't the ordinary beauty standard but they make one look so unique. He really doesn't look like your Korean average actor and same goes for Seo InGuk!

When I hear things about the beauty standards in South Korea, I feel a large percentage of society is actively fighting against nature just for the sake of conformity.
I mean… Not everyone will find the same physical features attractive. There are men and women, who are going to find “ugly, physical features” attractive. But, for the sake conformity and to always give a good impression, people will publicly claim that they agree with the beauty standards.
@@mimiandy1683 Are you an Asian? Some beauty standards are objectively the same for us. For example bulbous nose, square face and high cheekbones do not look nice on us. At least that’s how majority of us feel. Maybe if we go to the west we will be better appreciated of our “exotic” looks haha but till then we are subject to Asian beauty standards.
Slight tweaks to enhance some features by way of plastic surgery can really beautify a face, but there are Koreans/Asians who go for an overhaul adhering to the golden ratio and they end up cookie cutter “beauties”.
