i saw some documentaries about the plastic surgery boom - especially in asian countries and one quote stuck with me: "if i can look better, why shouldnt i do it?" rather than embracing what is beautiful as it is. the sad aspect that gets lost within that ideal: the more you change yourself to fit the standard, the less tolerant the industry is going to become by natural beauties = pushing self-hate more and more.
It’s only going to get worst because the beauty standard is a booming business.
N thus ending up luking like clones of each other, since there r set standards for the nose, the eye shape, jaw, everyone gets it done the same way n no wonder many actors n actresses have similar facial features 🤦

Yes I was blown away when i saw her in Queen for 7 days by her beauty. Her cheeks were a little chubby which made her smile look so beautiful. She is just a beautiful woman 😍

I need a part 2 of this video. I just love it when they tell the truth instead of denying it like most k-celebrities usually do (some probably because of their companies). It's not like its a crime, but its always nice to see them owning their truth and clearing the rumors about (in most cases) the very visible changes in facial appearance when comparing their before and after debut pictures.
I'm all for owning their truth and the truth is they aren't happy with their looks. Plastic surgery has become the norm and gives off the "I'm not happy with myself". Fan's watch and idolize these actor's and singer's and it'd sad to see that kids as young as 7 are saying they look ugly, I need plastic surgery.

As a Korean-American, I personally wouldn’t get plastic surgery even though I’m not fond of my nose. Surgery is surgery. Not only is it expensive, but risky and painful. However, I also believe it’s a personal choice. Plus, I can’t imagine how much pressure there is in any entertainment industry. While I do admire the beauty of K-pop and K-drama celebrities, I’ll just stick with skincare.
@Flower7 Whatever your skin tone, you should make the most of what you’re born with. Why would you let other people affect your self-esteem/confidence? If they hate you because of your skin tone, that’s their problem.

The Min Young lady looked way better before the surgeries, IMHO. She was incredibly pretty in a natural way, but after the procedures she lost the sweet uniqueness of her face. But the saddest thing is that she still finds fault in her looks...
The thing I find most shocking is that a height of 5'5 at 98lbs is considered the perfect beauty standard in Korea. Im almost 5'5 and weigh 110lbs and I look like a skeleton. There's no way that her curves support that weight. She either weighs more than that or her curves aren't natural. That being said, from what I could tell she looked like she's more of a healthy weight in a good way.
Maybe Koreans generally have really low bone density or lower muscle mass, so you can’t accurately compare your weight against theirs.

I first (accidentally) saw Lee Soo Hyuk on what happened to be his debut work on tv-series, titled "White Christmas" many2 years ago, because the way he looks today, only much, very much skinnier (i guess since he was probably still doing modelling too at that time).
And so, like everyone else here, i was majorly shocked to see him appear on the list, the first one at that. 😅
Dude just gained muscle and weight over the years, i dont see anything need to be fixed with his facial features, even the plastic surgeon would perhaps go,"BUT WHY!?" if he happens to ever think of getting one. 😊
I also don't understand what he changed. He looked way young and skinny in his old picture and it just looks like he grew up, gained some weight. Maybe he got jaw elongation...maybe...but people usually gain a jawline as they hit puberty or start working out

Me too~ I was shocked~ I've actually watched him first in Scholar Who Walks At Night and I was already in awe seeing him. He has one of the best visuals I've ever seen! His vampire-like features are what makes him beautiful. Yes, not just handsome but also beautiful. Even when I watched him now, and when I see his other videos, I still don't believe he got a plastic surgery. He still has that features~ This guy is just too handsome!

I always thought Park Min Young was so cute & pretty even when she just debuted before she got all plastic surgery but apparently Knetz kept hating on her looks saying her nose is too big and she is too chubby etc. They made her insecure and eventually she got plastic surgery. She still look gorgeous now but I personally think she had such a natural charm before the plastic surgery. She was pretty even then. So sad she didn’t think so.

I panicked when I saw Soo-hyuk first on the list but was relieved when I checked him out in his latest work, Tomorrow. Wew he still looks the same. 😮💨 I love his vampire look! I hope he doesn’t give up what makes him unique! He had great chemistry with Kim So Eun on Scholar Who Walks the Night and I actually loved his romance with So Eun than the male lead, Lee Jun Ki’s.
Plastic surgery is a vicious cycle. It’s a personal choice, but when it becomes an entertainment “ideal”, it skews how the public views what is attractive. When or if these people have children, will they not think their children are attractive?

Park Min Young was always known for being pretty even as a child. I know people think everyone who changed appearance did plastic surgery but that isn’t always the case. I lost baby fat and grew older so my looks changed. Interestingly everyone assumed I had plastic surgery. Nothing could change anyone’s mind even though they saw me every day. I guess reason goes out the window. 🙄
Tbh, if I didnt experienced it myself, I would've been one of those people you mentioned. My cheek was rather chubby when I was in my early 20s n now a decade after, at the same weight, my cheek slimmed down n my friends thought I lost lots of weight, lol. I didnt even realized it myself untill I compared my old n now photos.

@@erinaahmad5592 I would be careful about what you Google. My friend used to be in Korean entertainment and just starting to get more popular. She even had fan sites. Unfortunately it also means more false information and people put up a picture that is NOT her as a childhood photo. The funny thing is she grew up in the states but the girl was clearly in Korean uniform. It’s still in circulation unfortunately. She quit and got married- much happier. I know Park Min Young was known to be quite pretty from people who used to know her. About what changed- who knows. I don’t care tbh. 🤷🏻♀️

The actress from City Hunter has had the most improved look since grade school photos I’ve seen online. I’m surprised you didn’t share them in this video. She looks like a completely different person. Doctors made her pretty. Kim HyunJoong was born gorgeous.

I don’t think ps is the problem I think society and people insecurities get the best of them and they worry about other thoughts on them instead of there self.
There is nothing to brag about why they did surgeries and why shouldn't they do it... People who tends to take decision on themselves are more comfortable about the results, but the drawbacks comes when the society started to brag about their life..even though they are Celebrity they are still humans, like ordinary people.
I can’t wait to live in a world where people define beauty their own way. These “beauty standards” are overrated and are made by people who are trying to project their own insecurities on others. I come from a country where curves and thickness are celebrated (and I am pretty slim by the way). Most men in my country believe the curvier the woman is, the more attractive she is and slim women like me always get weird comments. Fortunately for me, I have never let anyone tell me what I am or am not. I then moved (during my college years) to live in a country were my body type was celebrated and people would literally starve themselves to look like me. It made me wonder what the actual beauty standard is then, and I realized it’s all a scam. I concluded that, beauty is what you say it as an individual because it’s not only skin deep, but comes from within. I always say; If I say I’m beautiful, then I AM beautiful and the rest of the world gets the body, face or whatever I give them, it’s as simple as that!

gosh, most of these actresses didn't even need plastic surgery. I love the naive Min Young than the sculpted one now. She had her cuteness and natural beauty back then. Her face now just looks too sharp and starts to show off the work done. The thing with plastic work is constant maintenance and the addiction. You will never get satisfied, that's the problem.
The one who won the beauty paegent was stunningly beautiful before she erased her distinctive features with the surgery. Same thing the Boys over Flowers actor. I'm confused about Ji Changwook. This video showed articles that mentioned about the actor's statement regarding plastic surgery they've got, but this video highlighted only the first part of Ji Changwook saying he went to the clinic, BUT the next part was about his doctor discouraging him from going through the procedure, so he left.

6:20 The left side face is actually natural Korean face , almost all Koreans have face like that but many of them change it these days they change it in highschool even in middle school that's why we don't often get to see this raw natural beautiful face of them but if you look at old people or Korean ahjumma/Ahjussi you'll see that they've this shape of face . There all gorgeous before and after and we live in a world where if something is upsetting you and you choose to have PS then that’s your right . The most shocking thing is how thin these actresses are honestly 5’4.9 inches tall with a body weight of 44kg is almost 7 stone like how these girls are seriously underweight 44kg isn’t even on the bmi scale it starts at 45kg . I mean children weight more than this . It must be so hard to try and stay that low weight wise my jaw is on the floor. These ladies are gorgeous absolutely stunning but I often wonder how honestly can they sustain being so skinny .

I used to go to IKEA weekly before the pandemic. Interesting enough, there always some couples going there. I started noticing that nose job is easy to identified. Because there are limited choices available.

The problem that NO ONE TALKS ABOUT. Is that plastic surgery looks DATED after a decade or so. This happens in hollywood. The kardashians "look" that everyone wanted BACK THEN now looks very fake and cheap. Bbls,big boobs tiny waist. Now its overly done and they look like wax figures. There's nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery as long as you don't come away from it looking worse or like a freak show. Some people get it and the doctor just messes their face up and body as well.

I'm a Triple S since SS501 debut so I knew Kim Hyun Joong was really handsome even back then so it wasn't a big deal that he did that procedure because he looks the same or at least for me. You can't tell he got plastic surgery only by looking at him because he's still natural compared to other idols and actors.

Kim Hyung Joong - I barely recognize him 😂. And Minyoung had naturally loverly face before her surgery, after she had it done it’s kind of not making her apprerance outstanding without her great performance.

I do agree with the opinion that plastic surgery is indeed a personal preference, and it's not like you commiting a crime. Also, its better for me if they accepted and stands with the fact that they get job done, cause at some point people these day and many fans of an idols and actor/actress are justifing their favs beauty as an puberty an called them natural when its not. Puberty can't change our bone structure, so it doesnt make sense at all. For me this is the main problem that make people piss off these day cause by those fact women especially can't see their face and stuff in a positive way anymore.

The agency lied. How can it be true? She’s at least 53kg a healthier weight but female celebs cannot hit 50kg you see.
I think is not her real weight. I was 45 kg at 165 cm and I know how it looks, she doesn't look like having 44kg. In my opinion she probably has 50 kg at least.

Rather than nitpicking about her looks , park min young should study on how to act better. Her expressions is so shallow and limited honestly. I've watch her on healer and secretary kim , but her acting throws me off. Every happy , sad , frowning expression is just being reused over and over. Kind of like an AI. Waste of being pretty

There is no way Yoo In Na weighs 44kgs, at her height and her body looks the way it does, even I someone who can get down to 40 kgs and be still be considered somewhat healthy on the lower weight side would look sick at 44kgs as though I have anorexia nervosa.
At this point we all know companies lie about the weight of their celebrities because for some reason any thing above 50kgs is gross for women, but wow 44kgs she probably weighs around mid to lower 50kgs. Her body is definitely banging though.

Same here I’m 43 kg - 5.3 ft and look and feel like I’m dying at this point. Bones from my hip and ribs are prominent. Being this weight is just unhealthy and hard to function in life.
If by BMI, that is considered underweight.

If possible please see a doctor and a dietician, because they will be more knowledgeable on how to help especially since they will have your medical history.
Maybe consider a psychiatrist too maybe stress is why you can't gain weight, I know when I am stressed I can not lose weight, however a friend of mine is the opposite she can not gain weight, sometimes she even loses weight if she is very stressed
