      Thanks man, I appreciate it. It has worked out well so far. I may be making a few minor changes to it in the future, but mostly to make filming easier/better. As far as security, that's the most asked question I've gotten and haven't given an answer because I don't really want to put that out there to the world. It is very secure and I know that's not the answer people want, but I've got to keep some things personal.

The dusting and cleaning would be ongoing and time consuming. I'm thinking about a curtain to keep the dust off the wall to reduce constant dusting and weapon cleaning. • @armeddiver
    @armeddiver Год назад +4

    I am so envious of you and your gun room. It is an amazing space. I also used a spare bedroom for my gun room. Mine is on the 2nd floor of the house, which makes the exterior window a non-issue. It over looks my driveway and I have a neighbor on the other side of the drive, so I don’t think anyone will be scaling the outside of the house to get in. Another reason for its location is that I am able to make it a hidden room. I have a Murphy Door bookcase for a door, which makes it virtually unnoticeable to visitors to the house. I used Gallow Technologies for my rack system and it works well for me. It has pretty much the same features as your system has, just a different hanger system. The only recommendation I would make to your room is flooring. I went with a wood like lament. With cleaning solvents, gun powder, etc., the lament flooring is much easier to keep clean and is far more durable that carpeting. I sincerely appreciate you giving us the tour. The one big thing your video has taught me is that I need to get is an ammo storage cabinet. Again, thank you for the tour. It is an amazing space.

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  Год назад +1

      Thanks, I appreciate it. If I was starting from scratch I definitely would have done different flooring. The carpet does catch anything I drop and isn't ideal, but it is more comfortable walking around in there without shoes and it keeps it a little warmer in winter months. I wonder if you could plastidip a bench or some kind of rubber coating like that. A coated bench would look better than mine with rubber mats on my bench on my gun building/maint. side. I put a table with AR and real avid mats dividing the room and mags,ammo and reloading on other side so I can do anything from build,clean a rifle, or reload etc and never have a gun and ammo close to each other to prevent a bullet magically finding its way into a gun.
    I like my gun tables rubbery and my ammo tables hard and smooth to clean up powder and random primers easier.
    What kind of door do you have? I was thinking of getting one of those vault doors or the secret passage type doors that look like a book case to get into the room.

    • @ballisticallychallenged
      @ballisticallychallenged  Год назад

      I'm sure there's a rubberized coating that would work. Easy cleanup on the benches is a must for me, either gun cleaning/building or reloading. I kind of want to somehow put a catch tray or something along the whole edge of my bench to catch all the little parts that like to roll away and hide.

      @@ballisticallychallenged take a router and make a 1/2 circle “ditch” about 1/2” from the edge. It can hold punches, pencils, and catch Springs, detents, cases, bullets etc. before the floor gremlin steals them. I also mounted sone neodymium magnets on the face side of the table edge to hold some of the ashtray size and smaller trays while not in use. My pins and springs don’t roll off the table, they travel at Mach 3 across the room followed by some words that bring me to the idea of sound “proofing” the walls. More like dampening. To keep the hammering, click clacking and occasional “ you little (redacted)” from being heard throughout the house.
      floor mats around working areas helps protect build damage from butter fingers.
      That’s a good idea with your brass.
      I procured two of my daughters cubby shelves (9 spots each) for brass segregation. I labeled them by process stage so you can still have different caliber cases in the same hole. Once fired, tumbled etc.
      love the led lights. They make some scaleable led strips for cars that can change color and brightness and do patterns controlled a phone app.
      I have my vaults in there until I can get a door to make the room the gun safe. Then I can start displaying on the walls.
      I haven’t done this myself like I should, but consider a good fire safe or used jewelers vault for bulk powder storage. They are stupid heavy, but If I had a house fire, I don’t want it to be seen from the space station. Those are designed against torch and drill attacks so I’m guessing they would be able to allow
      x lbs to burn off inside without melting and turning my house into a volcano.
      Pelican storage is a issue I need to work on.

    Im getting ready to start my gun room. Im planning on GallowTech wall systems and using some of your tricks as well. My question is about dust. Did you take any steps to reduce dust in that room?? How often do you "dust" you guns and what do you use?? Thanks for the videos and advice.

      Thanks for watching and good luck on your gun room. I didn't do anything special for dust. I typically just wipe them down with a microfiber towel and/or blow them off with that keyboard dusting spray

    So sick! I love your setup! What did you do for flooring? I'm planning to convert a spare bedroom, but it's plush carpet and probably won't be ideal.

      Thanks man, I appreciate it. I left the carpet... after having concrete in my old gun room I chose to leave the carpet. It's a lot more comfortable and I've never second guessed it. I see both sides of the argument but I chose to leave it

    Everyone has the same guns. It gets kinda boring. How many ar-15's and glock clones does 1 man need?

      Secure-it, if you go to the build list I also found another company that makes the same panels for a bit cheaper 👍
