Join me as I take my first flight on the 747-8i. It has been quite a while since I have flown the Queen of the Skies, and like always, it was an absolute joy. Although the service is not what I would define as 5 Star, I still had tons of fun filming this video. The amazing ground staff at SFO and the cabin crew on my flight even let me film the cabin before everyone else had boarded. I hope you enjoy the video!

After Concorde the upper deck of a 47 is my favorite place to fly..best looking livery I ever saw was a Jordanian Air 757 at CPH in 1989 thx for the vicarious flight 🙏🏻✈️

lest remember the upper deck purpose originally was not made for put passengers but to help cargo. That saying even though is narrow, is better than the bottom and many have described it as a "private jet" feeling which I also agree with (you forgot that big amount in the bottom). And just as the 380 upper deck, is also the best way to fly :) Excellent video!

Enjoyed the video, especially the note on Frankfurt Airport and the 747s. My spouse and I are hoping to take one (in Premium Economy) from Toronto to Frankfurt on our way to Croatia sometime this year.

@@theplanefacts How true. I used to fly them exclusively with Wardair Canada from Toronto to Prestwick, Scotland back in the 1980s and they were a brilliant aircraft to be on for a long-haul flight.
0:30 Sure beats waiting around for the SFO parking bus before they built the AirTrain connection!
It also beats using the domestic parking garage
I definitely prefer the old livery. Lufthansa's yellow was part of its brand, grown through decades. I think it wasn't a wise decision to let it go.

Thanks for the kind words, I‘m happy I was able to help you! There wasn’t a whole lot of turbulence on my flight but typically flying east over the Atlantic during the winter is when turbulence is the worst due to the strong tailwinds. If you are someone who wants to avoid turbulence, I recommend sitting in the middle of the aircraft and right over the wings. That is where you will bounce around the least if your flight were to experience turbulence. 😀

@@pcdynerve9236 The 777 is a great plane to fly onboard even for nervous flyers because of it’s size. It has a nice large cabin and flies a lot smoother than smaller aircraft. It is also one of the safest planes in the sky. A good tip I have is try and get your seat right over the wings, you will feel a lot less motion when flying through turbulence compared to the front or rear of the aircraft. @@theplanefacts tysm for this I already saw that video on the way to newark I was right on the wing seats 31K 31L andnow on the way back im on the far wing in seats 37A 37C hopefully smooth as I hope it will be back to frankfurt, I do know the -322er is a great aircraft and will most likely be a great flight!

I have always admired the Boeing 747 fleet aircraft and I prefer the 747 to the A38O SUPER JUMBO JET I don't find the it's shape appealing from the outside it looks like a normal size Airbus aircraft.
I wish a lot of airlines are still flying the 747 aircraft, and I rate the Germans for operating the 747 aircraft the Germans Lufthansa they have taste and good idea of flying the 747's and they know the art of flying.
I enjoyed your video of your Lufthansa 747 flight from San Francisco to Frankfurt it was awesome.
I wouldn't mind travelling on a Lufthansa long haul flight as long is a 747 to AFRICA, NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA, THE CARIBBEAN, ASIA, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND.
I'm a great fan of a 747.
My last flight on a 747 aircraft was a Virgin Atlantic flight from NEW YORK (JFK) to London Heathrow in 2015 not knowing that would be the last 747 I would be flying with.

regarding the IFE, i heard LH will update their IFE system on the 747-8i fleet starting from 2023

There is currently no mention of Lufthansa updating their IFE system on the 747-8
I don't mind flying economy. I'd rather put the extra money toward my destination experiences.

Not really. The drinks came with the meals and there were no additional snacks in the galley.
The food tooks terrible compared to United. I'd choose United based on this video.
What's the luggage allowance for economy class, please?
1 Checked bag, 1 Carry-on, and 1 personal bag is included in the standard economy ticket

My ticket says luggage one piece (23kg max) per passenger.

@@aligloria2343 Don’t worry about asking too many questions, I’m happy to help! You get 1 free checked bag with a maximum weight of 23kg, that bag will be checked-in at the airport and will be stowed in the belly of the plane. You also get 1 additional carry-on bag (max weight: 8kg) to take with you on the plane and you can stow that in the overhead bins. Lastly you can take a personal item (handbag, laptop bag, small backpack, etc.) and you can stow that under the seat in front of you. Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

I am traveling to UK, will I need a transit visa for when I get to Frankfurt??? And do I need to do pre-departure COVID test even though I’m fully vaccinated, my last dose of vaccine was 25th June, 2021??
@@aligloria2343 Weather you need a transit visa or not depends on what country you are flying in from. As of March 3, 2022 you do not need a COVID Test if you are fully vaccinated but there is always the possibility of that changing. Lufthansa let me down what should have been an brilliantly economical flight to Bali to see my son, after three years, turned into a disaster and ended up costing me £1000 because they cancelled two of my flights without informing me which meant I would have been stranded at Bangkok airport. Still in dispute. Not even had an apology.
I am so sorry to hear that. As a German, I find it super sad to see what has happened to our national carrier.

hardly enjoyable, the food just sucks compared to other carriers, suggestion order a special meal prior r=to flight, the audio video system was abhorrent…had to press too hard for the screen to move…..no snacks really …….The up safe the flight was safe an comfortable.
Food looked ok. Only I option? Not good. I need a meat option. Breakfast looked like a,snack. What a dissapointment.

Yeah the food looked pretty crap, you can get a packet of tortellini and sauce for £3 and pasta is the most boring food on the planet
