    I experienced all the cons Danielle mentioned in the description but I've been vegan for over a year and a half and you really do learn how to make quick meals and how to shop and how to just make good food that's also tasty. It's all about persistence and dedication but it's so worth it in the end!

    As someone who's vegan I 100% appreciate your opinions but I just wanted to mention that there is a lot of vegan food available and there's actually so much you can eat xx and you said you were often hungry - the number of vegan snacks available is incredible and they're so easy to find like nakd bars etc xx just wanted to put it out there ahha I really enjoyed this video!

      Carola Emma so true! I love clif and Lara bars. In the beginning I also felt hungry really often since I was new to this lifestyle and wasn't sure of what I could pack as a snack for school etc. It's much easier now though and since I live in a fairly big city there are endless options at the stores and restaurants

    At first being vegan is difficult because you're changing so many things on your daily routine but it gets easier day by day. Vegan for the animals ✌

    Danielle, I've been vegan for 5 years and I can tell you that being vegan is super easy! You can find vegan ANYTHING these days: vegan nuggets, vegan ice cream, vegan lasagna, even vegan tuna like wtf?! But I have to say that you need to eat more if you do another vegan challenge, because plant foods are super healthy but also really low in calories, and you need to make sure that you're eating enough. Also, try to eat more carbs, like rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes...and beans, chickpeas... Love your videos :)

      I could TOTALLY eat more carbs, they are life! Increasing my calories was definitely something I found hard but if I were to do it again I would totally go in search of that vegan lasagne! x

      things like dates, avocados or nut butters are high in calories but also healthy, so try to incorporate some of those next time :)

    You don't "hate being vegan". You're just not a vegan! There is a different between doing it just because and actually being vegan because you really care about taking control of your health AND for ethical reasons. It's cool that you took the time out to try it though!

    I've been watching -and doing- some of your workouts videos, they are my favorite so far. And now, seeing you opted for a plant based diet only makes it so much better! I'm very glad you chose this path, hope you keep it up (as I promise I'll keep up with your fitness videos!). Hugs!

    The first month was the hardest for me. There are loads of books and blogs out there with recipes and meal tips if anyone is looking into going vegan. It does take a lot of time and research, so I appreciate that you mentioned you hadn't!

    vegan for life please

  • @Julia-hk9yb

    I know it's hard at the beginning, being vegan. I'm one myself. But what it made it easier for me was doing research about animal facts like documentaries: cowspiracy or earthlings, because it made me empathise and be more aware of the cruelty animal are put on. Appart from that the beautiful thing about veganism is that you feel so much better about yourself: either because you know you're helping planet earth and being healthy for yourself. And also, once you get the hang of it, it becomes really easy to shop and find really good (if not better than animal products) vegan food.
    I appreciate a lot that you did this for a week. But there is one thing I want to point out and that I didn't like is the fact that you used the word vegan as clickbait when you just did it for a week and still used animal products like tested makeup and animal skin. Veganism is a lifestyle and you mostly do it for the love of animals. Plant based diet would be the correct term to use in this case.
    Still, I loved the video and the effort you made xx

    • @DaniellePeazer1006
      @DaniellePeazer1006  7 лет назад +11

      I was actually totally unaware that veganism and eating a plant based diet were different things and I probably should've done more research to distinguish the differences. x

    I really hope you consider trying this for a longer amount of time, the first couple of weeks can be the hardest especially when looking for a substitute that you'll actually like. There is an app called "Is it Vegan?" that I use that has been such a great help to me in grocery stores! I only have a couple of months since I started this journey and I absolutely love it, it is definitely something that gets better with time. Good luck on your possible future journey!

    finally watching this since I'm headed to the grocery store tomorrow! it is definitely tough to be plant based when you're not used to it so I feel your pain-especially when it comes to creative meals (I'm also gluten sensitive so that makes it suuuper fun). I will say that this inspired me to get back on the plant based wagon, though! xx

    I was vegan on and off for about two years until I hit a slump while going through depression. I'm still working my way back to being fully vegan, because I definitely felt more energetic and happier when I was. I do agree with a lot of the pros and cons you made in this video! Eating out with friends was always a challenge, especially when I didn't care for any of the vegan options...

    I appreciate that you clarified that the fact you were hungry more often was because of lack of research! I'm not vegan but I do have a friend who is, and when my friends and I cook or go out we always think of her diet, and of course at first it was difficult but over time you learn about new places to buy food from or how to replace some ingredients! I am not vegan nor vegetarian, but I have decreased my intake of meat and such, not doing well in the dairy department tho hahah Nice video! Really fun to watch!

    A lot of the cons fade as time goes by tbh, you get better at knowing where you can grab quick meals and ofc grocery shopping gets loads easier! Go you for deciding to lower dairy intake and avoid meat :) remember it's not all or nothing and doing your best is always good enough! (though all or nothing works better for me personally but people are different obviously)

    I've always been a foodie but I never enjoyed food as much as I do now I'm vegan. Not only is the food healthier (mostly, I do partake in vegan junk food sometimes) but it's also tastier. Being vegan can be a pain but it gets easier everyday and it's so worth it. Better for you, the environment and the poor animals. Vegan food can easily be insanely good!

    I wouldn't classify myself as vegan, but I do follow a mostly vegan diet out of personal preference. I think one of the most frustrating things I've found is that people complain I'm too picky, and/or they roll their eyes at my food choices. Also finding a vegan cheese that has natural ingredients has been difficult. I found a brand called Miyoko's (here in the US), but they're often sold out of the flavors I like. However, their vegan cheeses and butters are amazing because they're made from cashew nuts and other natural ingredients, and they taste wonderful. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    P.S the whole lying to the Pretzel workers about an allergy thing happened to me at Dunkin Donuts ( I don't like their cheese) and one time I ended up lying and saying I was allergic, and then had to explain my nonexisistent allergies' side effects to the cute guy that was working the drive through. You're so disciplined, I really admire that. For me it's really hard to resist food, especially sweets. I don't want to do a diet or anything like that but I have to reduce my consumption of sugar/sweets. I suffer from a fructose-intolerance and if I eat too much sweets, sugar or fruits I feel really bad and my stomach hurts very much. But I love sweets so much and no matter how hard I try, I can't resist sweets. Do you have an idea how I could be more disciplined or do you know healthy (sweet) things without that much fructose which I could eat instead of sweets? I admire you so much, sending you lots of love from Germany x

    Where exactly is the vegan hippo? I'm looking for new places to eat in London, and I'd heard about that one, but I'm not sure where it is. Also, check out the Linda McCartney range for vegan "meats" and stuff. Admittedly, they are more processed, but they are so good, and a large amount of their food is vegan. The vegan pulled pork burgers are mine and my family's favourite. And I'm totally liking this video because you cooked some good food and after a few weeks of vegan junk, I need healthy inspiration 😂

    a lot of the fruits you ate are full of water so they wont fill you. banana is a more filling one. its good that you recognise the lack of research that caused the hunger, though. and it was nice to notice that all your cons can be fixed with doing more research. you live in london and it really is a great place for a vegan diet, so its just down to figuring out what snacks/foods you can get on the go and where to shop for good food. :-)
    and its nice to see that youve lowered your meat and dairy intake, im only vegetarian myself. i rarely eat dairy and eggs (usually in desserts and sweets only, proper food is always vegan) and i can say i feel so good. we just had a weekend away with my friends at a summer cottage and i ate so much good barbeque food, and i was full all the time, a lot of grilled vegetables and potatoes and salads (the only thing i had that was different to my friends was a veggie patty in my burger).

      Thanks for the tip on the fruit, I didn't even think about how much water was int he fruit but it totally makes sense that I wasn't getting full because the fruit didn't have much substance. Although I couldn't stick to a plant based diet for good I'm glad that it has triggered something in me to think more about what I eat and cut out other meats and dairy products. This comment was so helpful, thank you! x

    Hey Danielle! I've been a fan for quite some time and only now found you have a RUclips channel. I'm a vegan and I have some advice for you if you want to be more plant based or completely plant based or hopefully vegan in the future. Half of your cons would be solved if you did meal preps. This allows you to not need to cook 3 times a day and have food in your fridge ready to eat at any time or even take on the go. If you were hungry you need to eat more food, because vegan food isn't as calorically dense as an omnivorous diet. So if you're hungry, nourish your body! And as for the recipes part, RUclips is a great outlet for that. I have a vegan recipes playlist on my channel from all different vegan youtubers and they are all delicious and practical. Or you can check out some famous youtubers: Tess Begg, Bonny Rebecca, Cheap Lazy Vegan, Liv B, Jon Venus, Healthy Crazy Cool, hot for food, Lauren Toyota, SweetPotatoSoul, SimplyQuinoa, Maddie Lymburner etc. Hope this helped!

    I think it's great that you tried eating vegan for a week and I think it's even better that you seem to be staying away from meat and (almost) dairy now! :) To make your life a bit easier and erase literally all of your cons up there, though, you really might want to do some further research on what to eat and how to cook and what to buy and where to buy it. It will only be a bit confusing and difficult in the first 2-3 months. After that you won't even have to think about what to eat and how to get it anymore :) good luck and happy eating ♥

    Tbh I've always believed in eating what you want but in moderation. If I want a crisp I'll have a crisp but then I'll make sure I'm not eating like more then one packet in 4 days. If I want chocolate I'll have it but I won't have a full on bar just a small bar. I have meat but not everyday or if I'm having meat I'll mix it in with veggies. The thing is why go on all these diets that deprive you of food that you really want to eat as long as your exercising and not scoffing on stuff you'll be alright.

    • @mann7298
      @mann7298 7 лет назад +2

      nobody who feels like they are deprived of food should go vegan or vegetarian or on other diets. thats not the idea. ive been vegetarian for year and a half and before that i hadnt eaten red meat in almost a year bc its so gross to me. its also about not eating dead animals, which is -if you think- really gross as well. you can survive without killing animals, so why do it. its also not healthy to eat meat every day, you should eat it only like 2 times a week if that. :-)
      youll be alright, but you can be better.

  • @konstantinamil7189
    @konstantinamil7189 7 лет назад +1

    I'm always open to trying new things so that you can confirm or reject their value, but to my mind veganism is just mocking yourself. I mean I don't think there is any food that can replace the macros that meat and dairy give you. However, it's good to try different things every now and then. Thank you for this Danielle.

    • @mann7298
      @mann7298 7 лет назад +1

      but there are. theres no reason for dairy use, no other species drinks milk as a grown up 'adult', only a short period of time when the babies are born. you can get all the protein from plant based diet that you can get from meat. the only thing vegans really need to take supplements on is b12 which you get from meat. and thats injected to the animal, its not naturally there.
      you probably should really look into the subject more bc clearly you dont know anything about it. dont judge it before you try it with a good research (so you cant complain about it failing when you were at fault without proper knowledge, which tends to happen sometimes).
      also, i dont want it on my shoulders that other living beings have died bc of my food when i can get all the nutrients i need without killing anything. you dont get the gross sluggish stuffed feeling like you do with meat filled meals.
      its a proven fact that a plant based diet is the healthiest one out there. if you wanna eat meat, you shouldnt eat it every day, only like 2 times a week. the point is, its your choice what you eat, but you should recognice what is the healthiest one, and its not meat and dairy :-)

    • @konstantinamil7189
      @konstantinamil7189 7 лет назад

      anna The healthiest diet is one that includes everything in The proper quantities. It's in our human nature to feed from other animals just like they feed from animals of other species too. Nobody said that meat eaters eat or need to eat meat every Day we consume it once or twice a week. It's just my humble opinion that we should not oppose our nature and shock our systems that way.

    • @mann7298
      @mann7298 7 лет назад +1

      meat eaters usually consume it way more than once or twice a week, if someone eats meat that rarely, they recognise that plant based diet is the way to go. plant based diet is the healthiest for your body. have you noticed how all the other species who eat other animals only use their teeth and dont cook their food etc. it would be in out human nature if you could eat your cow like a tiger eats his meat. if you look at all the other species who eat meat, you can see that their teeth are not like ours.
      but like i said, theres nothing you cant get from plants that you get on meat diet. plant based diet is known to increase your energy level, not leave you feel sluggish after meals (like meat), clear your skin and do al sorts of good things if its done properly aka do your research before you change your diet.
      its not shocking our system in any way to eat plant based food that is best for our body. i changed my diet like a switch and there was no shock whatsoever, everything changed for the better. do some research on the subject bc you clearly havent done it. might learn a thing or two. :-)
      and tbh if it doesnt bother you that youre killing animals for your food when its unnecessary theres something wrong..

      anna but it's totally natural to kill them when it's about survival and of course kill them moderately. I have done my research and I have collected The info I consider necessary. Anyway you have your opinion and I have mine there's no point in trying to convince each other otherwise. Keep doing your thing and I'll do mine :)

      but its not about survival when you can easily survive without meat. it was about survival back in the day and thats why a lot of people think eating meat is necessary and in our nature. its not about survival so its not natural :-)
      i dont mind anyone eating meat, its everyones own choice, but you cant argue about certain things, like that its not about survival anymore, so its not natural or necessary.

    First of all you have my respect for doing something like this. I mean it isn´t easy. I´m vegetarian since 2015 and even this wasn´t easy in the first two weeks, but the third week was more easily. I want to be vegan, but currently I´m not allowed to, so I´ll be vegan next year. I´m already living most of the time without diary products. You should have done better research before you´ve started the experiment, because I´ve heard that in England it´s more easily being a vegan than it is in Germany (I´m from Germany), but here is pretty much vegan food. Here you can buy vegan steak, vegan sausages, vegan butter, vegan cheese, so they are in England as well. Another Tip when
    you don´t know what you should cook, because you want to variety your meals, you could have a look at peta (Website, Instagram..) they´re posting a lot of recipes, because this is a problem a lot of people have. I´ve already comment something like this, but I deleted it. I was afraid maybe this was one of the comments you complained about on Twitter, but all I´m writing I mean friendly, and I´m really happy you have done something like this and that you shared your thoughts with us. Lot´s of love from Germany.

    Hello Danielle. thanks for your vlog)) If u don't mind I say smt about food and nutrition. In our wonderful World have a lot of food. have good and bad food. right nutrition is most important coz we are what we eat! So if smb wants change his nutrition fist rule is make everything easy and gently to avoid any stress for body health and brain.reduce that unheathy food step by step, day by day. Better to ask Vedic nutritionist. thank you for reading.have a nice day))

    Honestly Dani if you're bored of veganism after two days it's 100% your own fault... in the 21st century there's so much you can eat you can literally find a vegan substitute of ANYTHING so if you chose to only eat fruit then well your issue not veganism's

    can people stop using the label vegan when they're just eating plant based. veganism is a lifestyle, not a diet. good on you though ❤️ it's not impossible. i've been vegan since i was a kid.

      sage s if you read the description you'd see that it says she tried eating plant based and strictly vegan dietary items but didn't eliminate wearing leather and stuff like that! and anyway plant based people are still making a difference in the world so I don't see the problem.

      I made it look really difficult because I didn't do any research but I've learnt that its actually a lot easier than what I made it out to be. I guess I was just lazy! x

      The Alpro Soya Cream that I had tastes pretty much the same. I noticed a difference because I knew it wasn't what I usually buy but if I had just been given it without knowing then I wouldn't have known.

    Going vegan is difficult if you don't do your research. It's really easy to do if you do that first. There are vegan options for everything. You can still eat whatever you want it just happens to be vegan.

    I could never be vegan. Besides the fact I love meat and real foods (as in not vegan versions), I'm also just way too fussy. It'd turn the five foods I eat into two, so for the health of myself, I'm sticking to what I'm doing. This was funny though - and I'm thankful it was honest.
