I think you are referring to Hikvision..? We are not big fans. They are actually banned by the US government. The video chips they used were proven to have hidden backdoors in them. Here is a link to details you should consider: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/ndaa-banned-security-brands.html ...just something to consider. The camera in the video is our camera. We have it made for us, here is a link to details: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/cyber-secure-cs90-4k2.html
Outstanding video. I had relocated one of my cameras to a different location. For some odd reason all the video from my cameras went out. It was my power supply, as I found out by using my multimeter. Thank you very much for all the trouble shooting tips.
Thanks for the video, my camera from Q-See, they are out of the business, I don't know where to find help. I just wondering if you can help me out. My camera show find on the day time, but recently at nigh is so dark couldn't see it, I look on the camera there are no red led light. So is that the case power supply is not good? Thanks for feedback.
I see where you say it may be an issue with the cameras at night getting enough power this may be why only one of my cameras work at night, but in the day time only two of them will work but I have to plug them one at a time. I have four cameras they all work but like I say only two at a time when I plug in an additional camera everything says no video. I have a 4 camera laview dvr system. Any idea whats going on with this? Thanks
It sounds like an IP address conflict or lack of processing power. Try plugging only one camera in at a time and let the system stabilize. Then add one more camera to the system. If all works, then add a third. If any camera causes the problem when you plug it in, leave that camera to the side and try another. If it happens with the other camera its likely the NVR and its ability to process data. You may have to reduce the frames per second in the NVR or reduce the bit rate on all the cameras so the unit can handle the data workload. Its getting a bit technical now so you may want to contact the dealer you purchased from for support. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tutorial. I’ve got a question . One of my camera works fine for half day and the goes off in the evening about 8ish and comes Back in the morning about 7ish. What would you think is the issue here.
The camera is trying to turn on its nigh vision system but something is gong wrong. As the light level drops the camera automatically switches to night mode. There is something going on with the camera when it makes the change. Some cameras allow you to force it to stay in day mode at all times, you could try that and see what happens.
I am a IT Lead for a transportation company and need help with re configuring the connection for a few buses. any steps to it? fairly new with troubleshooting security systems ran threw a network
I have 4 outside cameras that were set up to connect with the DVR using WIFI. Recently one of the cameras dropped its connection to the DR and the monitor inside the house. I checked the connections and the camera and they seem to be fine. I do not now how I can check the WIFI connection for that particular camera! Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
With wifi cameras they are often are assigned their IP address from the internet router. The problem is the internet service can change the IP address randomly. If the camera is set for DHCP it will take a new IP address and may drop off the system. We recommend calling the company you purchased from for support. Thanks for the question.
Hello, great video! I have a 4 camera setup and just recently, 1 camera stopped connecting. When I try and troubleshoot the problem, it shows the camera is offline. After trying several times to reconnect, nothing happens. Then I tried a different camera that I had and still nothing. My system is a brand called Akaso. Even trying to connect it wired, it still will not recognize either one. The other cameras are fine. Crazy situation. The setup is just over 2 years old. Could the box be failing now? I ask because now something is putting my monitor to sleep as well. Not sure why, nothing changed. Thank you!
Sounds like it could be your video recorder. Have you tried using different inputs on the video recorder? It might be that just one port on the unit is failing. We are not familiar with the Akaso brand so our suggestions are limited to the basics. I would try a camera that does work on the input that does not work. If the camera works on that input, then its the bad camera to blame. If the good camera does not work on the input then its the input on the video recorder. Hope this helps.
Appreciate the help nice video. Mine was the picture was turning gray and the camera with scrolling. I use your advice and did the quick check with switching out the cameras. It wasn't that. I have a lot of cable strung out so I had to go and look for it at one of the joint connections I found what the problem was. I disconnected and reconnected and it worked fine I don't know what the problem was but it's working now. . Thanks for your help
Excellent work. The fitting becomes glazed with whatever and over time the connection is not consistent, the video drops off. When you unplug and plug back in, the fittings make a solid connection again and the camera starts working. You can count on Texans to get it done.
Hello, I have a problem too. I have a DVR from KKmoon and bought a Zosi camera afterwards. It worked just fine until I realized that the extra Zosi camera had XVI control with a menu. I played around with it and I changed a setting and now the screen has gone black and I see a big N with a red cross at the bottom. Is there any way you could help me to get the image back? Thanks in advance
Sorry, we have no experience with that software, it's an off brand. We would not know how to troubleshoot, sorry. We would suggest calling the supplier you purchased from and have them provide tech support. Good luck. Thanks
You should be able to it, most recorder can. If it does not do that feature it is extremely low end. Check the user manual, my guess is there is a way. Thanks for the question.
Hi guys, what if I have all my cameras not showing on the monitor but the quadrants where the picture should be is still their ? And also if the cameras do have that red led glow Could it be the video ports on my DVR ? I had 4 cameras up and over a period of time they all went off, I installed and additional 2 where I checked the wires and cameras before installing them yet once up, would not show on my monitor I need security on my home and vehicles Hope you guys can help
The quadrants will show whether the camera is sending signal or not. Since multiple cameras are down I would first suspect the power source for the cameras. Start there. Thanks
Could video loss be caused by faulty Poe switch? We were poking around loss all feeds except one. Only thing that didn't look right was one of the switch with LAN cables connected to it was not powered on. When we power back on some lights that use to blink is now not blinking. Could this be a cause of loss video feed?
@@BackstreetCameras Btw since I have one video port 1 feed left should I try putting it into port 2, 3 or 4 to see if it works to test for bad port or camera power supply from POE? Seems odd 2 feeds were lost but like in previous post noticed video gone when POE lights were gone and somehow got unplugged
@@BackstreetCameras i went back to my friends house today and it turns out the previous installer grouped two camera feeds together per one 12volt 2 amp black power supply. I'm pretty sure the other power supply is blown and two cameras went out at once. But these are not plug in they beaned all three positives on one side and three negatives on the other side. I'm 95% sure that is the cause what you think? Because when I unplug other power supply that side goes out and when you plug back video comes back.
Hello im currently using a CCTV camera with the DVR that can give picture up to 1080N but the picture quality output only giving 960N when before giving 1080N. Is there a way to make the video good again or what part is having trouble so i can fix it? Thankyou.
It might be your monitor or a setting in the video recorder. If the monitor has a max resolution of 960N then that's the limiting factor for the entire system. For example, if you have a 4K camera you need a 4K video recorder and 4K monitor to view 4K. If the camera is 4K and the recorder is 4K but the monitor is 1080p...all you will see is 1080p resolution even though the recorder is recording in 4k. Hope this helps.
Yes, likely the camera is not compatible. There are many data formats such as ONVIF, CVI, TVI, AHD. Check the specs on the NVR and the camera and match them. Hope this helps.
Where can I buy the type of wire your talking about? How cheap, and can you show a video on step by step showing how to do? I just setup my Amcrest and only 2 out of 8 is working right now, and dont know why? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You'll have to speak with Amcrest about your system. Only they would know where to buy the thin cheap cables you refrence. Its a shame they do not provide better customer support. But look for a support phone number if they have one. Amcrest is a non professional grade system so some of their products are proprietary. Sorry we could not be more help.
@@BackstreetCameras can you help me with my system please? It seems two of my channels aren't working. It was one channel at first, so I bought a new camera but it still didn't work so I factory reset it now 2 of my channels dont work and it has stopped recording. Thanks.
I have an 8 channel Anne vision Cctv system for some reason 3out of 8 cameras are just showing the annke logo I've tried everything but no luck I tried to manage via my smartphone and it seems to be something to do with the front resolution as it says no camera but the cameras that work say pal and I'm unsure why the dead cameras won't let me change it to pal ????
PAL is for European applications. The cameras should be set to NTSC. But that not the problem. The 3 cameras showing the logo are simply not communicating. The logo shows the NVR is not detecting the cameras video feed or the channel is turned off in the software. Hope this helps.
I have an issue where the video no longer shows. It use to for a long time. Recently all the camera does is flicker the red IR light but no video. Connecting to dvr camera still works. Did a dc power test and getting 12 v. How can i test the video on that line with multimeter or what does the on/off of the light indicate?
It sounds like a camera problem but try swapping the power source with another camera. See if the problem transfer to the other camera. If it does not transfer and the problem is still on the same camera, you have a bad camera. If the problem transfers to the other camera, you have a bad power supply.
@@BackstreetCameras I was able to hook it up directly to the unit and it works. Also got a new camera and same issue. Will be trying to get new power line out to it and see if it helps.
I have a question I have a security system that it keeps rebooting now one of the cameras did not belong to it so I replaced that and it seem to work but then hours later I had my boss called saying that it keeps rebooting. I replaced the hard drive with the original box and it keeps doing it
Try reformatting the hard drive. If the camera had its internal time and date different from the NVR you could have a data formatting problem. We have seen this cause the rebooting you reference. Reformatting the drives will correct this if this is what is happening. Hope this helps.
Hi there, we have a Concord NVR with 6 x 5mp cameras connected. All are operational and give great pic quality...however the camera covering our driveway doesn’t pick up all motion. It picks up me driving in but not my husbands car...very strange. All the settings on the NVR are correct. Could this be a sensor problem.
Thanks for the question, we have never heard of Concord, its likely a consumer grade system. Sorry, we do not have any advice other than contacting the supplier you purchased from (we hope they have a phone number). Sorry, thanks.
I have a LTS DVR camera setup. They’ve worked great for 2 years. I unplugged the DVR to hang a new tv and when I plugged it back in all I get is the Home Screen and it doesn’t recognize the mouse so I can’t get in to do anything. Bad DVR???
Try the mouse in a different USB port and try a new mouse. Take the unit off any power strips or UPSs and try direct connect to a wall outlet. Give it a try, if nothing changes, look for a local electronics repair shop. Good luck.
Hi, I'm currently using 16 Cameras from Night owl which are about 3-4 Years old and I have an app that allows me to monitor when at work, although It recently stopped working and I assumed the app (Night Owl Pro) was under Maintenance so I didn't really think much about it, Its been over 6 months since my app stoped working and I have tried nearly everything, I recently got into contact with Night Owl Support and they told me to upgrade my DVR because something along the lines of the DDNS and how they no longer manufacture/support that model. Then I asked support if all I had to do was buy a new DVR from them and I was told that I'd have to buy a whole new set of cameras because my cameras aren't supported in the newer DVR models, I want to know if this is true because my current cameras are 1080p and are COAX, which is the same thing that the newer DVR supports. Now I don't know whether support is trying to milk me of my money or are just being honest. I also asked support if I'd have to go through the stress of rewiring all the cameras and was told no, all that mattered was that I upgrade all of my cameras and DVR. Thanks
Sadly they design their systems to lock you in and then the endless upgrades. Yes they are telling you the truth but they crated the problem. You can use your cabling as they suggest but you will have to upgrade both the DVR and cameras. Sorry we did not have a better answer. we can help here is a link to our coax upgrade options. www.backstreet-surveillance.com/hd-cvi-series/hd-cvi-security-cameras.html
Are the DVR/console main units of surveillance systems usually noisy? Mine has had this loud noise from day 1 that gets louder but never goes away. Not the whirring of a fan, it almost sounds like all the rapid clicking noises a computer console makes when loading. (Unit is not connected to internet).
The older DVRs generated a lot of heat so they put very strong fans in them making them noisy. Our new NVRs generate so little heat they do not even require a fan so they are silent. Thanks for the question.
If you mean there are two cameras on the same video feed then they are likely IP cameras and you have a IP address conflict. We would need more information to help. What kind of cameras (model, IP or coax etc.)? How are they wired? What brand is it? Provide this info and we can suggest a course of action. Thanks for the question.
Sorry its not a brand we have heard of. We did a google search and there is no supporting documentation. We could not even find any info on the manufacturer. We would recommend contacting the person or site you purchased from and see if they will provide some support.
I have a unique situation. One of the six exterior cameras does not show up on my monitor but is perfect on the phone app. I've tried everything. The camera is the same brand as others but slightly different. Only conclusion I can come to is the resolution on my old monitor might be too low.
Aloha! I'm having trouble with my night owl in the evenings. While looking at our monitor, the cameras are snowy, and we can't see too good. It was never like this before. We have the Night Owl AHD7-DVR8-1TB. Night Owls customer service sucks!!! They never return calls. Please help!
Sadly Night Owl is a really low end system, near the bottom of consumer grade. I'm sure it was a great price but its likely just bad electronics which degrade quickly. Sorry I don't really have any advice other than purchasing higher quality equipment. Thanks for the post.
I have a dome camera that kicks into infrared mode even when the lights in the room are on (two bright 2ft fluorescent bulbs). It wasn't like that when it was first installed. Started happening recently. Any idea as to what might be causing the problem? Any help/advice would be appreciated! Thank you
Hi Fadwa, The camera may need a small viewing adjustment. Not sure why it started now but was fine when first installed. But by simply angling the camera down a bit or left or right would change the way the camera is seeing the light and may correct the issue. Give that a try and let us know how it goes. Thanks
Its possible there is no drive in the unit or if there is a drive perhaps it just needs to be formatted. There will be a software feature in the recorder that will allow you to format the drive. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question.
Our camera security Z Modo was working until the internet people swapped our modem for a newer one. They left the security system unhooked. Do you have a diagram showing me what goes where? I have a monitor and NVR box. I get a message DVI no signal & check video cord. I am not a tech person. T
Each system has specifics for remote viewing connection, I would suggest contacting the company you purchased the equipment from for reconnection instructions. Thanks for the question.
If the cameras are analog the lines are likely a bad fitting or a dying camera. Usually you will not see horizontal line issues on IP based cameras, but it could happen. Check your fittings, then see if you can switch two cameras and see if the issue follows or stays on the same channel. This will tell you where to focus, if the problem follows, its the camera, if the problem stays on the same channel with a new camera then its the cable or the input on the recorder. Hope this helps.
this video I found very interesting TROUBLE SHOOTING in this video it mentions that when you loose picture on cctv but on screen you can still see your mouse moving about that's a very good trouble shot because that can happen & you thinking to yourself WHAT CAN THAT BE IS IT AN HARD DRIVE FAIL no it turned out to be 8 way splitter cable power adapter had infact lost signal.... output due to a power drop.... so re changed power adapter... & well yeah so far it's al right. NO BLEEPING picture back to normal thanks for that
Keep troubleshooting...take one of the bad cameras and plug it into the cable of the camera that is working. Does the camera provide video? If yes, its not the camera. If there is no video its likely the camera is bad. Hope this helps.
This video is good for the analog systems. I'd love to see a similar video for the ProVue IP systems, as there are more things than just bad cameras or bad cables that can make the video not appear. By the way, I did have one (of 16) ProVue cameras that failed a few days after it was set up. Stuff happens, no big deal. Fortunately it was while I was still staging the system so I didn't have to climb a ladder and de-install it. You folks took care of it right away with a replacement. Thanks! Good company and good customer service.
Hey guys, I have a sannce system with multiple camera set up however I cannot set the view on the monitor to show all cameras at once on a split screen continuously. I can briefly view this split screen but then it quickly reverts back to camera 1 as main screen. Is this normal or am I missing a trick here? Many thanks
It could be three possibilities - monitor is not compatible, software bug or a bad camera signal. 1. Try another monitor, its possible (if its an older monitor) the signal format (with multiple cameras displayed) is not compatible with the monitors supported formats. The video recorder senses this and resets to the single camera view. 2. Bad camera signal - disconnect all but two cameras from the video recorder, try the multiplexed view (both cameras displayed on the screen). If the problem continues, disconnect the two cameras and connect two others. If the problem stops its a bad camera signal (one of the first two cameras is feeding a bad data signal into the system causing the problem). If the problem continues its likely a software bug. When the system switches to a multiplexed view data streams are running into an incompatibility issue causing the system to reset the video feed to a single camera. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question Backstreet Support Staff.
What would you say the problem is with digital cameras blinking on night vision, blury then sharp, continuously but my analogue cameras are ok. I have a four channel system with two digital cameras and two analogue cameras, I've also tried an extra power supply running two cameras on each without success. Any help would be appreciated.
Its likely the night vision system. Its trying to automatically adjust to the light levels as it sees it. Try adjusting the cameras view slightly by aiming to the left or right. Its possible the night vision infrared light is bouncing off something close to the camera causing the camera to constantly readjust. Aiming the camera in a different areas and seeing of the problem continues may be the way to verify if this theory is correct. Hope this helps.
I have a pressing issue! @Mac-The Security Guy. My cameras refuse to work all at once. Its 4 of them and I initially thought that just one camera was bad but I accidentally installed the one that was not working and it worked! But if I connect all 4 it won't only 3 camera . I simply don't understand why that happens
Do they all share the same power supply? Its possible the cameras are drawing more power than the power supply can provide. This would allow one to work but when connecting the others, the available power drops possibly causing strange issues. This is just one possibility.
Step 1 would be to isolate each camera. First plug each camera into the power supply individually (one at a time) and verify each camera is operational when only one camera is attached to the power supply. Next if all the cameras test good, plug two cameras into the power supply and see if the two cameras work or not. If not, the power supply is likely damaged and cannot power multiple cameras. If it works continue to plug one more camera in at a time until the cameras stop working. The last item plugged in is likely the problem or the power supply might be damaged and not putting enough power out to power all 4 cameras. Hope this helps.
The Security Experts - Security Cameras Made Simple same happening with my cameras... I was suspicious power supply... I will buy other, since all are working properly but not together.
Hi i have a floureon system. set up and all cameras were working until i put in the last camera lead..it cancelled the others out. any help would be appreciated. I have checked cameras, connectins etc.
Sorry, we don't have any experience with Floureon equipment. Actually this is the first we have heard of it. Sorry we do not have any helpful direction. Thank you for asking.
Please help me,ive purchased a brand new hd idvr with 4 cctv camera, the instalation went flawless, left them over night, they had good image, good ir image.Closed the dvr in the morning and wanted to turn on again after arround 7h,but there is no image coming from the cameras.Checked if the ir is on,and it is on for all 4 cameras(at the same time at night, sugesting that the cameras do get power)Is it possible that all 4 ports of the dvr gone bad at the same time(seems odd)
Sounds like the video recorder or the power supply for the video recorder. Time to call the supplier and get some tech support, if they offer it. Sorry I could not be more help. But your evaluation seem in the right direction. Hope this helps. Thanks
I got a night owl 8 channels 1080p I bought a while back..... I have 6 cameras and from the 6 there are 4 that go in and out and the image only showes half image then it goes out again 30sec laps i got one of the good one and check the bnc on the switch and it works am guessing is the cameras but not sure. is there a reset on these cameras?
Night Owl is known for similar issues. Its possibly the power supply. From your description its possible the cameras are under powered causing them to reset. Try removing one camera from the system and then let it run. See if the issues persist. If it does then remove another camera from the system. If the issues stops then its either the power supply does not have enough power for all the cameras, or you have a bad camera causing the system to reboot etc. Hope this helps.
One of my video(port 2) is not working. No video at all...all black, but it shows on screen that its connected and power supply works. But when you I put that camera into a different port(1,3,4), it works so all my cameras do work. when I use other cameras into port 2, it doesnt work. Help is one of the port on DVR bad?
It may not be the DVR, it might be the hard drive. Try reformatting the hard drive. All DVRs have a section in the software where you can add hard drives and format them. Try this first, see if video starts recording again, if not take the hard drive out and have a computer repair store test the drive, if the drive is had replace it and try again. If the drive is good the DVR is shot. Hope this helps.
I have an IR COLOR CCD CAMERA, the IRs are working but no feed is coming from the camera, the cable lines are okay because when i switched the no feed camera to the working camera it shows feed to the monitor.
Hi my problem is a dome pan zoom wired to joystick control the camera started to spin around this morning we had to switch power off , this stopped it spinning and now we have limited movement side ways and down but no zoom or lift up please advise.
HI Maria, I've seen this before. Possible causes are: The power supply is not providing the power draw needed to operate properly. Power supplies can and do degrade over time. Its possible a power bump or just the age of the power supply has reduced its ability to provide the required minimum power draw. This causes the camera to constantly reset itself and run through the start up process causing the camera to do the movements described. The second option is simply the electronics have gone bad. I would check and replace the power supply. If the problem persists the camera should be sent in for electronics repair or replacement. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
My hard wired (Ethernet) Milesight camera logged out and is now just cycling between the NVR and milesight start up screen. It’s like it can’t get to the login screen. What can I do to troubleshoot this?

Hi, I have 8 cameras, none of them working now, NO VIDEO message instead. I can see the cameras flashing at night, white flash , nothing red. Before they stopped working, 2 of them worked somewhat, live view was intermittent. Those 2 worked like that for a day before they stopped working completely. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot them? Thanks in advanced.
Sounds like consumer grade system. It's likely a Lorex, Q-see or something similar. There is not much you can do to troubleshoot low quality. If its not reliable to start its likely to have nothing but problems down the road. Sorry we don't have better advice. We recommend contacting the company you purchased the system from. Hopefully they have a phone number. Thanks for the question.
@@BackstreetCameras , thanks for your reply. I purchased this system 4 years ago and was installed by a company that assured me it was the same system that they and many businesses use. It has never worked properly. It was a headache to get in touch with them the first year while under warranty and after I spent $195 to extend it one more year it was harder. The cameras are identical to the white ones on your video, that's why I asked. Again, I appreciate your reply, I guess I made a $1,400 mistake.
Only change one part of the system at a time for testing. First change the cable but not the camera, if video comes up its was the wire, if no video, swap the camera with one you know works. If the video comes up it was a bad camera. If no video, then its the port on the recorder, try another port on the recorder. Hope this helps. Thanks
On low-end cameras the IR LEDs burnout within a year or two. I'm guessing the cameras are 2+ years old and an off brand..? Consumer grade cameras have a tendency for this to happen. Nothing you can do but replace the camera. We recommend professional brand cameras, their LED will last 10 years or more. We offer a large selection, here is a link if interested: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/ip-security-camera-systems/ip-security-cameras.html Hope this helps.
Hello, I have a samsung security systems everything worked fine for 5 years but all of sudden two cameras stopped showing video on screen and I unplugged and plugged it back up, then they came back on the monitor. A few days passed and now all my cameras went out and nothing will show on the monitor not even the mouse. I have unplugged every single thing and only once did everything comeback on but it only lasted a day or two. Now nothing comes on no matter how many times I disconnect everything. The cameras still show the infrared lights when I cuff my hands around it. What can I do?
Unplug all items connected to the video recorder. The plug the monitor, keyboard and mouse back in. Make sure that works, then plug one item in at a time and monitor if any one item cause the strange events. This may help isolate the item causing the problem. Its possible its just wore out. 5+ years with a consumer system is very good.
I am having a hell of a time trying to set up my swann security camera. The app continues to ask for a QR code that was not included with the camera so I manually entered the camera's ID, but the camera won't pair at all. I've been searching all day and have yet to find anyone troubleshooting this issue.
There should be a QR code in the NVR's software. Look under the general or info tab in the software. You might find the QR code there. Hope this helps.
One of your cameras are off line, try rebooting the NVR (cycle power also to the cameras). If the camera does not come up its likely a camera problem. Thanks
My camera works then stops the rolls on 2 of my cameras and the other 2 don't show at all. The monitor and mouse moves on all 4 cameras. Do you think it's the cameras or the power supply?.
You'll have to isolate each part of the system for testing. I would remove all but one camera and see if the issues continue, if it does try another camera, and see if it corrects of if the issues remains. Until you isolate which device is causing the issues, you'll like not have much luck finding the culprit. We're going to make a "how to troubleshoot security cameras video" in the next week or so. We'll have it posted asap. Thanks
Figures, we have had failing surge suppressors do some really strange things to systems. Always the first step is to by-pass the surge suppressor by plugging the NVR directly into the power (again, isolate each part of the system until you find the issue). Great work, glad you found and fixed it. Cheers!
We'll I don't know specifically why, but mixing two consumer grade brands is likely the fundamental issue. Consumer grade systems like Lorex, Night Owl, Swann etc. do not adhere to industry standards so it quite common to see different brands having strange issues when trying to combine the two. Sorry I could not be more help. Thanks for asking.
I can’t log in! Help. Recently bought my home with previously installed security video system and it says incorrect password! Someone recently stole something from my garage and I’m trying to log in and find out what happened!
Sorry but you'll have to contact the provider or manufacturer. Passwords are not something you should get help with on youtube. If you do find help...get rid of the system (if you can reset the password based on help you find on youtube so can others.) Hope this helps.
Hi Karen, It could be power but it also could be a bad fitting or data noise from other devices being induced on the cable. Is this a new installation or has the camera been working awhile? This info would help us recommend the next step. Thanks
Its a transmission issue. Troubleshooting depends on where the delay is noticed. Is it seen while remote viewing, live viewing from the camera to the NVR or palyback?
Wow, I'm guessing the recorder does not have the processors needed for live viewing, recording, remote viewing and playback all at once. Likely a low end price point recorder. It probably needs more processors. Nothing you will be able to fix. Just an educated guess.
IR night vision will not turn on if you have a porch light on. The light defeats the need for infrared night vision. You should do just the opposite and keep the porch light off. This will allow the night vision to turn on. Hope this helps.
Hi, I've got floureon CCTV and as soon as it starts getting dark, all 4 camera screen's go to black. Outside the IR slowly flashes, it goes back to normal when it's day light. Any ideas please?
Sounds like the cameras are not receiving enough power to operate the night vision system. I would confirm the cameras power draw with the power supply. It also could be a limitation of the cable. Consumer grade systems hate to put copper in the cables, its expensive and weights more. Both hurt profit margins, so they engineer them with as little copper as possible. Hope this helps.
@@BackstreetCameras thank you for replying. The system was running from extension lead, so I plugged them directly into socket's but made no difference. All 4 camera's go black at dusk but work perfectly during the day. It's really frustrating.
Hello there I have a problem with red rectangular moving box on every object that’s on the camera like car or humans walking is there any solution to fix this problem it’s really hard to identify people with that glitch on thank you.
You have motion detection turned on. When the system detects motion the red boxes are indicating that the system has detected motion. Each system is different, but you should be able to turn off the red box feature without turning off the motion recording. Hope this helps. Thanks
I understand that to Indicate that the motion sensor is working there a red dot 🔴 on the top left of the screen but I’m having this problem recently the red box wasn’t there that covers objects wasn’t there. Thank you for the response.
Yes the red do on the top does indicate motion is recording. The red boxes you see with movement are trying to indicate to you what triggered the motion so you can use the adjustment to dial the system in. I still think you have that feature turned on.
Hello I have a Swann 8 camera system and on the TV it's stuck on the System Language which has "Apply or Exit". I tried over a hundred times with the mouse to click on either one but nothing is happening. I tried with the remote, unplug TV, unplug the DVR camera box, unplug all the cords and plugged them back and still nothing works. I can watch some of the cameras in real time but I can't do anything else like FF or rewind. How can I clear the block on the TV sxreen?
The often this occurs when a camera is switching from color to night vision or if there are changing light conditions. Pay attention to the time of day and see if you notice a correlation between the time and the problem.
Adjust the cameras field of view or move the cameras to another location with different ambient light. It's the cameras getting stuck between the two operational modes (color & Night Vision) due to the light levels, not enough light to stay in color and too much light to stay in night vision mode. Often hard to fix, better cameras may solve the issues. Hope this helps.
When you say "stops working" do you mean the video recorder shows the message "no video" or is there just no image? First thing you can try is restarting the camera, it might be stuck in nigh mode, do this by recycling power to the camera. Unplug it from everything and plug it back in. Hope this helps.
@@BackstreetCameras Thanks For reply. My cctv camera starts working in night but when there is strong light in the night or when day light comes it stops showing any kind of video on screen. It does not stuck. This is happening daily to my cctv camera.I have 3 other cameras on same DVR but they are working properly. What do you think can a bad wire be culprit?
It's possible the camera is set in some manual mode (in software) which does not allow it to adjust to the light conditions. More likely is the camera is bad. I don't think its a cable but that can easily be tested by switching the camera with one that is working. If the problem follows the camera to the new cable then its not the cable but the camera. If the problem occurs with a new camera on the same cable then its the cable or the port on the NVR. Hope this helps.
i have annke cameras and it just shows a black screen i have tried everything and i cant get it to show images. and i checked the test to see if the red lights showed up and it didnt but its connected to a power source idk what to do
Hi Cupquake, could be several things but the red lights not showing up...indicates the power source is not operating for the cameras. I would replace or have someone check the power supply with a power meter to see if it is providing power...step 1. Step 2 call the company who provided the system and ask for troubleshooting support. Sorry cant offer much more advice based in the info provided. Good luck.
Hi my cameras was working perfectly until at night time they all started to flicker the. Say video loss and the. Come back as normal the. Switch back to black and say video loss and it still a black screen and my cameras are mounted around my house up high and the screen and monitor is up high so what do I do? And what is the problem pls help
The troubleshooting rules apply, but it sounds like the power supply might not be able to power all the cameras when the night vision systems on the cameras turn on. Try removing one or two cameras from the power supply and see if the problems still occurs or if they go away. If the problem is gone try adding one camera back onto the power supply and again monitor it to see if the problem starts up again. If not add the last camera and check again. If removing a couple of cameras fixes the issue, then add another power supply for just those two cameras. This isolates the cameras and provides more power per camera. Hope this helps.
My friend when I was setting up I clicked something that gave me a black oblong on my number 1 came it's about 2"x1" can you please help me . Cheers Douglas, Australia
Sorry, not enough info to suggest troubleshooting. Is it coax or IP network? What is the brand of the system? What is the camera model number? If provided we may be able to help. Thanks
what if one camera keeps cutting off and on over a period of time. checking the cable connections ( unpluging and replugging cables ) starts to work again but over a extended time of use, same thing happens again. is there something to put at connections before plugging them back together like wd40 or a grease ( just a reference ) to get a better connection or is it better to just replace cables. if so, is there a product to use or brand for either one that i should be looking for. Thanks
Hi Darrell, If the connections are solid and the cable has been checked, I would consider other environmental possibilities. For example: Does this happen at night? Could be the power supply for the cameras is aging and when the night vision system turns on the power draw is too much and shuts down the camera. Just one possibility. Are there other devices on the power circuit that may turn on cause a power bump or drop. Does it happen in bad weather? Could be the elements. Try and think about all the things that could effect the camera. And definitely make sure the connections are protected from moisture. Hope this helps.
The same thing with my three dome-type cameras installed inside the house. I have been through all the wire-swapping, and all. Sometimes they will work when I unplug the whole set-up for an hour before rebooting. But they will only work for several hours before going out again. Now two of them do not totally work anymore. One of these two turned up recently, but went black again after several hours. But you can see that there is power since at night, you can see the LEDs lighted. I have no similar problems with my external cameras. I am already getting frustrated. Do I simply replace the cameras? Are the cameras of poor quality? I hope you can help me please
One of two possibilities come to mind. Either the video feed from camera 1 is gone causing the entire filed to be blank. Or the system has a feature called "masking". This allows you to block out areas of a video for privacy reasons, such as a neighbors windows etc. If your system is equipped with masking, its possible a masking section has been applied to this camera causing the black box. I would take a look to see if this feature is enabled. Hope this helps.
The blue flash is either bad monitor, the monitor loosing connection to the NVR or the NVR losing connection to cameras. It's a data issue for sure, you could try another monitor for a few minutes to see if the issue persists. If it goes away with the test monitor then replace the monitor. If the problem occurs with a new monitor then put the old monitor back in place and troubleshoot the NVR. Hope this helps.
Hi Cristi, sorry we have no knowledge of this brand of camera. We would recommend contacting the supplier you purchased the equipment from for support. Sorry we would not be more help. Thank you
It might be a faulty hard drive. Try removing it from the unit and turning it back on. Obviously it will not record, but if the NVR boots up and shows you live camera video then the hard drive is likely bad, replace it. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the question. My first guess is POWER. If the cameras are sharing the sample power supply or power outlet I would start looking there. One possibility is when the night vision systems on the cameras turn on the power consumption rises above the maximum power that can be delivered to the cameras. When this occurs you will see strange things like cameras going in and out. Basically each camera is not getting the minimum required power to operate reliably, so they start doing strange things like going on and off line randomly. So first I would monitor the time of day when this is occurring and see if there is a correlation with the night vision systems turning on and the problems occurring. Hope this helps. Keep us posted on what you find. Thanks
I have a swann camera and trying to run 2 100ft cable with a splitter in the middle and i cant get video.. but if i connect my camera on the first 100ft ot does work what could it b the problem..
There's a lot of info missing info that is needed to explain in detail, but if its coax and an analog camera you messing up the ohms on the line and causing the failure. Sometimes splitting the signal works but not at distance. If its data cat5 or cat6 it will never work. You have to use a PoE unit. Here: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/cctv-parts/cctv-power-supplies/four-port-poe-power-injector.html
@@BackstreetCameras there bnc cables i have a 100ft one amd im trying to put another 100ft so it can reach the camera but i dont get signal only if i connect it on the first 100ft
Thanks
Wow, I'm stumped. Ok, start over. Plug one camera in at a time, test the camera. If it works that means the camera is good and the cable is good. Unplug it and do it again with the next camera. Keep doing this with all four cameras (one at a time). If one does not come up then its the camera or the cable. Now plug one in at a time and wait for video. Then plug the next in and see if its stable. Keep going, if the system falters after a certain number of cameras, the NVR has a power issue and cannot support the cameras. Time for a new NVR if that’s the case. Good luck.
Recycle power one more time. If the power came back slowly you might be dealing with the opposite of a brown out (brown in). Perform a clean power cycle, off, wait 30 seconds and back on.
Sorry too general to help troubleshoot. Could be almost anything...provide more detail and we will be able to help. What are you seeing before it shuts down? Does it come back up after shutting down or do you have to reboot it first?

I like the quality of this camera, what you guys think of hickvision brand? Im looking to see which camera i should get..
Outstanding video. I had relocated one of my cameras to a different location. For some odd reason all the video from my cameras went out. It was my power supply, as I found out by using my multimeter. Thank you very much for all the trouble shooting tips.
Glad to help, thanks for posting.
The Infrared LEDs are likely burning out on the camera. Nothing you can do but replace the camera. Hope this helps.

Hello! What to do if the picture is pink?
It's likely a signal issue. Check your fittings and cable. If they are good then the camera has take a turn for the worse.
Thanks for the reply. I will check the cam and try to force it to stay at daytime

Thanks for the tutorial 😀 you really summed it up well 👍
You’re welcome 😊
I have floureon Cameras is there a way I can keep all four cameras showering in the monitor at once ??
You should be able to it, most recorder can. If it does not do that feature it is extremely low end. Check the user manual, my guess is there is a way. Thanks for the question.
Hi guys, what if I have all my cameras not showing on the monitor but the quadrants where the picture should be is still their ?
And also if the cameras do have that red led glow
Could it be the video ports on my DVR ?
I had 4 cameras up and over a period of time they all went off, I installed and additional 2 where I checked the wires and cameras before installing them yet once up, would not show on my monitor
I need security on my home and vehicles
Hope you guys can help
The quadrants will show whether the camera is sending signal or not. Since multiple cameras are down I would first suspect the power source for the cameras. Start there. Thanks
Could video loss be caused by faulty Poe switch? We were poking around loss all feeds except one. Only thing that didn't look right was one of the switch with LAN cables connected to it was not powered on. When we power back on some lights that use to blink is now not blinking. Could this be a cause of loss video feed?
Definitely could cause video loss. Even it the PoE was just unplugged it would cause issues. Likely a dead PoE. Thanks
@@BackstreetCameras Thanks will look into it!
@@BackstreetCameras Btw since I have one video port 1 feed left should I try putting it into port 2, 3 or 4 to see if it works to test for bad port or camera power supply from POE? Anything you can do to isolate each part for testing will get you closer to identifying problem. Good luck.
Hope this helps.
i have a 4 chanel system i replaced one cam with a new but a different brand and it didnt work is it compatibility?
Yes, likely the camera is not compatible. There are many data formats such as ONVIF, CVI, TVI, AHD. Check the specs on the NVR and the camera and match them. Hope this helps.
So cool that you guys reply to every question in the comments.
Thank you, we try hard.
the cables on cheap systems are junk out of the box replace with coax cable. you can buy thin flexible stuff pretty cheap
Exactly right. You can see and feel the difference.
Where can I buy the type of wire your talking about? How cheap, and can you show a video on step by step showing how to do? I just setup my Amcrest and only 2 out of 8 is working right now, and dont know why? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I wish someone would reply to my question.

Each system has specifics for remote viewing connection, I would suggest contacting the company you purchased the equipment from for reconnection instructions. Thanks for the question.
How to solve horizontal lines seen on cctv screen?
If the cameras are analog the lines are likely a bad fitting or a dying camera. Usually you will not see horizontal line issues on IP based cameras, but it could happen. Check your fittings, then see if you can switch two cameras and see if the issue follows or stays on the same channel. This will tell you where to focus, if the problem follows, its the camera, if the problem stays on the same channel with a new camera then its the cable or the input on the recorder. Hope this helps.
this video I found very interesting TROUBLE SHOOTING
in this video it mentions that when you loose picture on cctv but on screen you can still see your mouse moving about that's a very good trouble shot because that can happen & you thinking to yourself WHAT CAN THAT BE IS IT AN HARD DRIVE FAIL no it turned out to be 8 way splitter cable power adapter had infact lost signal.... output due to a power drop.... so re changed power adapter... & well yeah so far it's al right. NO BLEEPING picture back to normal thanks for that
Cheer, you are now a class b troubleshooter. Thanks good!
Hey I have 4 cameras and only 1 works . I have tried the trouble shooting but it didn’t work
Keep troubleshooting...take one of the bad cameras and plug it into the cable of the camera that is working.
Hi Steven, thanks for the comment, and the kind words.
What would cause my camera to be making a whining, high pitch sound when applying power?
Bad electronics I would guess. But that is a new one...no ideas but I would replace the camera.
Thank you.
@@BackstreetCameras it has a power adapter connected to the wall which is a connection for the splitter for all four cameras.

Just going to be honest. Buy a higher quality system.
Thanks
I have one camera. There is a red light at nite but I can't seem to see any picture on my tablet even though it claims to be on live view. Plse help 🙂
Do you see video during the day? And do you know the model number of the camera and brand? We might be able to help with this info.
Very likely the port is bad but you should swap the cable with one you know is working just to make sure the cable and fittings are good.
Is there any programs for security cameras the I can control the camera layout on screen. ie 1 camera, 2 cameras, 3 cameras or delete unused displays.
Yes all our NVRs provide that option. We even have some videos showing how to do it. Checkout our channel for details. Thanks
I check my camera playback daily. All of a sudden I get no video data no matter what date I select for playback. Is my DVR shot?
It may not be the DVR, it might be the hard drive. Try reformatting the hard drive. All DVRs have a section in the software where you can add hard drives and format them. Try this first, see if video starts recording again, if not take the hard drive out and have a computer repair store test the drive, if the drive is had replace it and try again. If the drive is good the DVR is shot. Hope this helps.
I have an IR COLOR CCD CAMERA, the IRs are working but no feed is coming from the camera, the cable lines are okay because when i switched the no feed camera to the working camera it shows feed to the monitor.
Bad camera. If the cables are confirmed good and another camera works on the same line, its most likely a bad camera. Hope this helps.
@@BackstreetCameras thank you sir
power supply is my problem. how can i fix it?
Power supplies are easy, you just replace them.
Sorry we don't have background in that software. Could be anything at this point, we would recommend calling the dealer you purchased from. Thanks.
I brought me a 10 camera night owl system a couple months back set it up but now one of my camera shows black and white pictures both day and night time. Could it be the cable that is bad?
Cable or camera. But if it worked in color when installed I would focus on the camera. Hope this helps.
The Security Experts - Security Cameras Made Simple I disconnected the cables on the DVR side then reconnected it and now it’s working perfectly fine don’t know what cause the problem
My cam its freeze. I plug another cam with diferent wire.and works in the same port.what you think its
Only change one part of the system at a time for testing. First change the cable but not the camera, if video comes up its was the wire, if no video, swap the camera with one you know works. If the video comes up it was a bad camera. If no video, then its the port on the recorder, try another port on the recorder. Hope this helps. Thanks
I have a wifi Swann outdoor camera that detects and records fine but has no live video. Do you know what might be the problem? Thanks in advance

We offer a large selection, here is a link if interested: www.backstreet-surveillance.com/ip-security-camera-systems/ip-security-cameras.html

I have some problem with the camera but only when I whach playback some lines show up on the top top model and I don't know why?
Could be the camera or cable. Not enough info to help in detail, but this is where we would start to troubleshoot. Hope this helps.
I have a ZOSI set and my cameras say Video Loss. Could you help me out?
One of your cameras are off line, try rebooting the NVR (cycle power also to the cameras). If the camera does not come up its likely a camera problem. Thanks
@@BackstreetCameras ik sorry, how do I reboot that?
Unplug all power, let it sit for a minute or so and plug it back in.
Thanks
@@BackstreetCamerasIt turned out to be the power source/plug to the cameras. I just bought another one from Amazon for $9.62 (total).
Figures, we have had failing surge suppressors do some really strange things to systems. Always the first step is to by-pass the surge suppressor by plugging the NVR directly into the power (again, isolate each part of the system until you find the issue). Great work, glad you found and fixed it. Cheers!
I have my lorex cameras hooked up to a night owl DVR. My cameras are showing in black and white, any idea why?

What is the band and model of the video recorder?
My cctv delays 10 sec what could b the problem
Its a transmission issue. Troubleshooting depends on where the delay is noticed. Is it seen while remote viewing, live viewing from the camera to the NVR or palyback?
@@BackstreetCameras Its is seen on live viewing
Wow, I'm guessing the recorder does not have the processors needed for live viewing, recording, remote viewing and playback all at once. Likely a low end price point recorder. It probably needs more processors. Nothing you will be able to fix. Just an educated guess.
The night viewing is not working after replacing the porch light bulb 3 times
Hello there I have a problem with red rectangular moving box on every object that’s on the camera like car or humans walking is there any solution to fix this problem it’s really hard to identify people with that glitch on thank you.
.
You have motion detection turned on. When the system detects motion the red boxes are indicating that the system has detected motion. Each system is different, but you should be able to turn off the red box feature without turning off the motion recording. Hope this helps. Thanks
I understand that to
Indicate that the motion sensor is working there a red dot 🔴 on the top left of the screen but I’m having this problem recently the red box wasn’t there that covers objects wasn’t there. Thank you for the response.
Yes the red do on the top does indicate motion is recording. The red boxes you see with movement are trying to indicate to you what triggered the motion so you can use the adjustment to dial the system in. I still think you have that feature turned on.

check the battery inside the dvr to make sure it doesnt just need to be replaced before you go out spending money on a new one.
my cctv camera somes the screen goes completely green it goes normal and back full green
The often this occurs when a camera is switching from color to night vision or if there are changing light conditions. Pay attention to the time of day and see if you notice a correlation between the time and the problem.
@@BackstreetCameras what can i do about it to fix the issue
Adjust the cameras field of view or move the cameras to another location with different ambient light. It's the cameras getting stuck between the two operational modes (color & Night Vision) due to the light levels, not enough light to stay in color and too much light to stay in night vision mode. Often hard to fix, better cameras may solve the issues. Hope this helps.
*My cctv camera works in the night but stops working in day light please please help*
Hope this helps.

what if one camera keeps cutting off and on over a period of time. checking the cable connections ( unpluging and replugging cables ) starts to work again but over a extended time of use, same thing happens again. is there something to put at connections before plugging them back together like wd40 or a grease ( just a reference ) to get a better connection or is it better to just replace cables. if so, is there a product to use or brand for either one that i should be looking for.
Thank you, I nearly gave up on the swann camera's. Going to try again.
Good luck let us know if we can help.
hi on my monitor camera 1 slot has a black box in it i cant seem to remove but camera 2 3 4 are fine its not the camera any ideas please

No, its just one option. You can display in almost any configuration. You can go to full view, full time if you want...
HELLO SIR MY CCTV SCREEN FLASHING BLUE EVERY 10 MINUTES WHAT COULD BE THE REASON ? THANKS

Thank you
My entire thing freezes and it will beep restart and work for a few seconds then freeze
It might be a faulty hard drive. Try removing it from the unit and turning it back on. Obviously it will not record, but if the NVR boots up and shows you live camera video then the hard drive is likely bad, replace it. Hope this helps.
I have three cans that are blinking on and off every now and then ideas please???
Good luck.
What if the power goes off and when the power comes back on the it's black and white
Recycle power one more time. If the power came back slowly you might be dealing with the opposite of a brown out (brown in). Perform a clean power cycle, off, wait 30 seconds and back on.
If my monitor screen go on and off what wil be the problem
