How anyone decides to wear their hair is their business. Including those who choose to relax.

That part!! I will never understand why it’s such a debate

It's a debate because relaxers are actually dangerous for your health love

@@avasd59So is smoking and a host of other vices, but we don't see people being so antagonizing towards smokers. If people want to harm themselves with relaxers, that's their business.

I became a straight natural about 7 months ago, and I love it. For me, it's easier to manage without having to deal with the tangles, knots, and breakage. My hair was in the "curly" natural state for 5 years before I decided to get it straightened. I had to get it cut into a short bob (which I didn't mind). So I'm in the process of growing it out again.

How often do you straighten it?

This! I am transitioning to a straight natural starting next week. I have 4B, low porosity & medium density hair. Every two weeks I do a Wash N Go, that’s how long the style last for me. But my hair is still very soft after two weeks. I get the worst tangles, knots, breakage all the way around at my roots/ends. I’m tired of having to Pre-poo as well.
I know I would have way longer hair if it was straightened because I wouldn’t have any fairy knots at all.
It would be easier to detangle my hair.
My hair strands are so fine that they break so easily in a curly state.
I love my curly hair, but it’s time to turn the table. And for good. The older you get, your hands/wrists just start to get really tired of doing curly hair. Well, mine are.
And I’m only Thirty - One.
I’m ready for a quicker hair routine. Especially with being a wife and a mother.
I’m always busy, I feel like I never have time for my curly hair.

@jaydenicole4063 it sounds like you haven't mastered a wash and go yet and you're possibly not using the right products and technique. I wear wash and gos exclusively and my hair doesn't break off or tangle badly. But I do get tired and I just turned 30 lol

I love wearing my natural hair straight. I've been nervous about putting heat on my hair every month, but this is so helpful! I’m gonna start implementing more of your tips and some of the products. Thank you!

I have been a natural since 2012! I feel like I’ve done it all.::all the henna, home deep conditioning concoctions, blow outs, wigs, flexi rods, flat irons, buns twist outs…etc chile I’m tired!
I definitely noticed a difference when I began at the start of 2024 I’d do a blowout and use a flexi rod set and rock that for a week. It was so manageable and I was retaining length. But then I fell off that routine and just came out of being under a wig for 6 weeks and I think I need to lean into being a silk press girlie.

I absolutely loved watching this video from beginning to end. Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous, just as healthy as can be! 😊😊😊😊😊 oh, and I happen to be a major fan of Color Wow’s Dream Coat! It truly is a miracle worker for sure! I’m all about healthy hair. So, no matter how a person chooses to wear their hair, as long as they properly know how to get and keep their hair in a healthy state, that is what truly matters. For me, doing wet stylings, such as wash n Gino’s, just wasn’t best for my hair and scalp’s long-term health. So, I went back to what I knew was best for my hair and that is wearing it heat straightened. When I want to add some body to my hair I do. Every where I have ever lived at it, starting in late Spring thru early Fall, the heat and humidity be down right respectful and it can sometimes get very stormy ⛈️ , as well, during such times, so when I have to go out in such extreme weather conditions like that, I’ll style my hair into a nice, neat bun, secure it with a cute silk scrunchie. and I am good to go. If I need to do a lil touch up with heat before my next hair wash day, I will simply use my heated straightening brush for that and things will be A okay again. One thing that I would tell any natural, please do not be afraid to use heat on your hair, even if it’s on a monthly basis (whether you do it at home or have a professional to do it for you). Because, you can only best see if and where your natural hair is damaged, when it is in a straightened state. You can’t promptly see how damaged one’s hair is, if you only do wet stylings on your hair. Plus, once you get the hang of heat styling your hair, your wash days will become a breeze. And, best of all the amount of shedded hairs you see will be so much less overall. I truly wish everyone the most healthiest & happiest hair ever! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Girl, I'm trying this straight hair natural route this year. I live in humidity all year round. I'm going to blowdry only for the next month. I'm trying to stretch my washdays to every 2 weeks, but with the hot weather, I feel like I need to wash my scalp weekly. I want to alternate with silkpress and blow-drying only🎉. Just ordered some olaplex and color wow.

I haven’t relaxed my hair in 20 years. I pretty much decided I wanted to highlight my hair so no more relaxers for me. Twenty years ago, this movement wasn’t strong like it is now plus all the products that make maintaining hair didn’t exist. I think even natural straight versus natural is a weird thing going on within our community. I’m a lazy hair person so I prefer my hair blown out. The argument is confusing and not conducive to healthy relationships with our hair and each other since ALL hair is natural if it grows out if one’s scalp!! Unless you are unable to grow hair from your scalp, all of us are natural!
These debates remind me of how folks used to debate good hair. Oh she has “good” hair. Once again any hair which grows from the scalp is good. ❤
Great tips on maintaining hair through humidity, workouts , and the shower!
I look forward to future videos!!

My hair doesn’t typically start to revert since it’s pretty heat trained but if it does get get a little frizzy I’ll just wrap it the traditional way

Do you Deep condition every time you wash your hair before pressing? does deep conditioning cause heat damage at all?

    • @ZeneseAshley
      @ZeneseAshley  2 месяца назад +3

Yes! Everytime.. And no deep conditioning actually helps fight heat damage, it’s adding moisture back into your hair.

Does hair become heat trained over time, mine still has same texture? In the summer, it only stays silky for 2 days, roots reverse back. My hair is shedding more due to the 2 textures, tips? Love your color.

Don’t risk inflaming your scalp for a style, I wash weekly and blow dry mine twice a month. My hair is healthy

    • @tracyc.1005

Not everyone is able to do 3 weeks or longer. When I had itchy scalp coupled with some sore spots my dermatologist simply told me that I can't wait that long to wash my hair. I'm good with every two weeks. I never had that problem again. Remember your scalp health comes first and supports the growth in the first place.

    • @Sparkle-ey7iw

I wash mine once a month. Sometimes the flakes are due to product build up or if you have dry scalp. You can try a dandruff shampoo or oiling your scalp with a light hair oil or tea tree oil periodically or try a scalp detox. If that doesn’t work could be a scalp condition
