Madame Antoinette Sherri, a costume designer from New York, began buying land in Chesterfield New Hampshire in the late 1920s; she planned to build a stunning summer home on the property. Her mantra was “Only the best,” and for years she threw wildly lavish parties at her “castle,” hosting an eclectic band of friends from the city.
Madame Sherri eventually moved on leaving the castle to fall into disrepair, and it burned down on October 18, 1962. What remains today isthe staircase, the foundation, support columns, and a fireplace. Madame Sherri dies in 1965 and the location is now preserved as the Madame Shrerri forest.
Along this road trip we stop at the Chesterfield NH Gorge , a massive river cut out in the granite sweeping done the landscape.
This is great Chesterfield NH History.

Great Adventure, things, and stuff! It was cool to see Nin- Jen do the narration at the beginning, cool surprise and well done Nin jen. The song fit the mood and aesthetic of the site so well. It was almost as if parts of the song were written for that site. When you were walking around the Gorge I wanted to break out the pin pointer and check the bedrock for lost and locked goodies. Loved the Castle tour also. There's something about stone structures that amaze me. An hour north of me there's a single arch stone railroad bridge over a road and at the bottom of the hill a massive double arch stone railroad bridge that a stream flows thru that are absolutely amazing.

We come here the Madame's footsteps slowing walking down the staircase. Very cool! Like a clicking sound. I thought I saw an image of her standing on the left backside of the Mansion looking at us, but that could have been the beers playing possum haha great spot. Imo she is still there

The gorge is a great place, I used to live across the street on Atherton Hill. The mountain you came up just before it is closed a few times each year due to snowfall. Cars and tractor trailers spin their tires and can't make it up. There is also a camera on 24/7 in case of accidents.

Thats Ok, at least it keeps undesirable people from coming in and taking history. Maybe they will have a proper dig there someday to save some artifacts.

i have been to both these locations many times. now the madames castle is definitely haunted. a few friends of mine have some pictures of orbs recordings of evp's. i have had experiences myself. you should do this one again but at night and see how different it feels than during the day.

Until the 1980s, the central chimney for that fireplace was still standing - but it's since been toppled by vandals, probably trying to out-stupid one another. The Ann Stokes loop trail is a nice hike, connecting to the Daniels Mtn Loop making kind of a figure 8. Some nice vistas along the way.
