Charlie you can’t let the ignorant comments bother you. You know what you’re looking for and what it is. That’s all that matters. Awesome ramble through the woods again today. Thank you for being you.
It is a good thing that I caught today's video rather early or I would still be hiking in the woods. What a walk! I'm with you on the iron "junk"...every item has a story to tell. We just have to listen to what it is saying.
Wow Charlie you were really covering the ground today. I think the woods have the same affect on you as they do on me. If I see a path like that I want to find out so bad where it goes, it feels like something is physically drawing me on. Thanks for such a nice time, it is very good to listen to all the things you describe to us as you take us along. You are so good at reading the land, and catching those sometimes very small changes, which give you clues to the arrangement of a site. That almost buried wall was amazing as well as the wonderful meandering cart path. I always come away feeling like I have learned something new each time I watch. That you found relics today was like the icing on the cake. Have a great day.
That's neat. I found an obscure reference in a 1800s newspaper article about a supposed Native American battlefield. I need to go explore it. I don't even consider going into the woods anymore without at least tucking everything in. And using bug spray 99% of the time.
That's some walking! That'll keep you in good shape! Also I liked the phrase "long way to go, but a short time to get there" one of my favorites! Are you the Snowman or the Bandit?!?!?!
I’m English and I live in New Hampshire. I love seeing historical items and ideas that we have in england. Love buying antiques from England that had come over during the big rush west
I am with you guys even the smallest pieces of history help make the big picture clearer Thank you for all you do . I was so excited to find an old stove door even if it was broken , everything has a story what we think we know and what was real .
Be real careful of the ticks And!!! MISQUOTES this year!! They both carry virus and bacterial infections!! Spray down clothing b4 you go out into the wonderful outdoors!! Cool finds, neat old stuff!!
That was some hike and now I am intrigued as to where the path goes as well Charlie. I suppose there could be other sites up in all the brush but extremely difficult to find if there were. I agree with your comment about the metal, that is old and therefore a relic, one man's trash is another man's treasure lol. I hope you get your friend sorted and had no tick trouble. Take care my friend, good luck and happy hunting Mary-Ellen LFOD
I know this video was a year ago but I just have t comment on something that you said that someone said that you just tried to make people think that some of the things that you find are whatever but I know that this probably doesn’t make sense but I just want you to know how much I enjoy you and Dame in your videos. I am impressed with the knowledge that you have about the terrain and the time period that the early settlers were there and the fact that you know what these objects are and they look like nothing to me. So keep it up and don’t let the naysayers discourage you.
Wow this is super rad, especially since it's right here in New Hampshire! Having lived in Kentucky and Massachusetts, both states with incredible amounts of history and folklore, it's always fascinating to learn more and more about New Hampshire where I live now.
Excellent!! Thank you for the map shot!! It helps to put things in perspective 👍 Nice pewter button! Definitely old site and I like your deduction of rogue settlers 😁 No doubt you’ll find reason for the cart path!! Love NT 👍👍👍
It will still be there, and you will figure out where it goes, probably to more cellar holes. You still do more actively for your local (and national) history, as to the what, where, and why of the colonists settlements than anybody I see on RUclips, and I imagine overall. Thanks for what you do, I learn a lot, it really intrigues me, and thanks for letting me go with you.
hey Digger Charlie awesome exploring / scouting trip, that's one of the reasons I bought a dual sport motorcycle everything here is spaced so far apart ,I can ride in minutes what would take hours to walk(trying to work smarter, not harder) seems like it all boils down to time(never enough) say hey to the rest of the stealth diggers, I'm going detecting right now enjoyed ,stay safe and good luck on your next hunts (big thumbs up from Alaska )
Wow great video buddy 👍🏼 pewter button you know your in a old spot! Like you said definitely go back there again. Make sure to be careful with them ticks. Iv gotten a good amount of them on me this year like know other year and I swear there getting use the Deep Woods Deet bug spray lol. Enjoy your day my friend like I enjoyed your video 👍🏼 GL&HH out there!!!
I was shocked after I did a hike out to Mts Oregon & Mowglis near Newfound Lake the other week and found 20 ticks on me. But 30 plus ticks? Yikes! I'm enjoying the vids.
Definitely an atv trail. Small amount of foliage in middle and none where tires roll. Was that a downed tree that was cleared by chainsaw over trail? Maybe originally a cart path though
Boy Howdy some not so sweet hitch hikers DC. The path that never ends is intriguing. The short walls are the native indications I take it? An enjoyable and educational Not Thursday.
As a fellow outdoorsman from New Hampshire you really need to be treating your outer garments with permethrin. It is just about the only thing that works.
If you're fascinated like me what it looked like back then, you gotta read the book "Reading the Forested Landscape: A Natural History of New England" by Tom Wessels. The guy is local and is brilliant.
Some people just don't get it. Youngins I suppose. It's history, you're putting hands on stuff that NO One else has in 100, 200, 300 years. Keep up the GREAT work. I've recently found NT and SD and dang near Binge-watching them LOL
Great location to live if you dont like unexpected visitors. Just the kind of place I would have picked lol. It's been a bad year for ticks here also. The darn things give me the creeps. Thanks for sharing, take care and be safe.
Hi Charlie i am just getting started in the hobby saw your belt pouch is that a metal detecting pouch or just a tactical pouch with pin pointer sheath attached ether way could you let me know who makes that pouch thanks love your enthusiasm great videos look forward to find out the pouch i seem to be obsessed with gear
I was wondering when you were going too comment on ticks. You have one of those roller tape things? Would come in handy! You need a motocross bike! Js...
I treat my biking / hiking pant legs with permethrin.. great stuff and safe but ticks roll off and die. I would highly recommend treating pants legs, , socks, shoes. I have done this since a tick bite a few years back, since then I have had no ticks.. and the threat of lyme is much worse than chemicals on my pant legs. Just thinking of ticks gives me the creeps !
I envy your ability to walk so fast and so far. Oh.. To be young again! BTW.. No Indian lined a path with those rocks. Definitely European style. When you find a button, I picture the person who lost it, wondering where it got to, never dreaming it would be found again in the distant future. Do you ever set up camp, spend the night, and resume walking or digging the next day? Seems you would save a lot of time that way. Have fun! 🙋
Treat your clothes with permethrin. Walmart sells the Sawyer brand in its sporting goods section. It works for 6 weeks or 6 washings. It repels and for the ticks that don't take the hint it will kill them in a little while. Treat the seats and carpets of your car too. Please take this seriously. My wife died from a tick disease 2 years ago. I don't want the ticks to get anyone else. Good Luck, Rick
Convincing us that "Junk is good". Well now - how ignorant can you get? It is HISTORICAL. All of the finds of a site put together tell the tale of the people that lived there. That dovetails into the regional history which ties to our national heritage. Discovering the lay of the land, the cellar holes, the walls, improved vs unimproved, planted vs grazing land - all the stinking rocks. The folks that came here first WORKED to live. The "junk" tells the tale. Thank you for sharing it with us Charlie.
Wear lots of heavy duty Feet, Ben's is good, wear white socks over pants bottoms, spray all over with Feet. We live on MA/NH border in a very woodsy area, great for adventuring and looking for artifacts too. We live in an area where there were quite a few tribes, some migrated during season, etc. Glad I found your channel! P.s. best way to kill a tick, carefully spread pet.jelly on, after 10-15 mins they will start to move back a little before biting(especially nymphs) grab them with nice pointy tweezers, light em up with a match make sure they're dead and hey Preston, dead tick! Happy trails!
Hi i am very curious and interested in starting to metal detect i hear you talking about cellar holes n stone walls cart paths could you give me a lil more info on what they are and mean i live in Cumberland md and want to know how to find where to look for our history from the past thank you for your time and reply....Virgil
Well there will always b haters. It’s because of your channels and few others that I got into this hobby. I even started my own RUclips channel under Monk Cheetah. I’m a newbie to Metal detecting but have been a outdoorsman since 12 Year’s old. Keep on searching the woods of New England your never know what u might find.
WOW thanks for taking me with you people who think a broken pot is “junk “ is usually all about money or fame not about preserving history they would think an arrow head is just a rock it’s fascinating to me how our ancestors made their way without government to “save “ them thanks again
Kewl, for the ticks I use sawyer permethrin spray, you can get it at pelletiers or walmart, then I reapply repel blue can spray on shoes and pants not skin, bens 100 on skin every outing, wont get rid of all of them but cuts it down to about an 1/8 of what ull usually will find most of the time I get em b4 they have a chance to bite
Holy ticks Batman! I mean Charlie. That would freak me out, don't you spray anything on your pants like some kind of nuclear waste tick spray? We use to duct tape the bottom of our pants just to keep the critters from climbing up. Definitely would want to swing on that cart path. Very interesting find. How's that path look on a topographical map? Could you tell where it was going to and from? Awesome discovery Charlie. I think this is going to lead into something. 👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome adventures! I am new to detecting. How does one get permission to detect in areas like these deep in the woods? I'm in PA so I don't know if the rules differ from state to state.

Great video. Love the scenery also there. Thanks for sharing. Be careful with tick and mosquitoes.
I’m English and I live in New Hampshire. I love seeing historical items and ideas that we have in england. Love buying antiques from England that had come over during the big rush west
The Abenaki and the Pennacook were there for thousands of years.

👍🏻👍🏻love the woods but the ticks are so terrible this year.
Charlie - That is what it takes to be a detectorist! Find it, hunt it, retrieve it! Take care and H.H.!
Great show! Ticks are bad this year. You are one tough Chuck I can say. Love the journey your taking us on, Really Good Show!

I would explore that long path with a mountain bike / fat bike to see where it ends up and you can cover ground a lot faster ! great find / spot ! .
Charlie keep it up I like to find more about what you found dad to the history stay blessed and I'll see you on the next
What you have found is probably an old logging camp for ship timber and such along with the mast way to get them out.
I love watching videos. I love all I learn from them. Keep it up!

Beautiful hike. I can only dream that some day we will be able to enter the woods without becoming an insect buffet...
Nice! Keep it up, bro!
Great video!!
And all those trees weren't there either. Could be a garden sight!
What was metal used for, tools they brought with them I'm guessing.

A clothes lint roller works great to get the ticks off.
@Jr ALEXANDER while they are still climbing on your clothes, it works well. Obviously not once they're latched on.
great video ..you guys really need to get your selves some thermacells to help keeps bugs and especially ticks away

The trail you were following Mitt be a trappers trail for furs and food.
Go back and check how deep the buried fence goes. It could be three feet high and so old that it was buried when the colonials built their houses.
@notthursday I saw some MDs in Europe using a clothing that is treated to paralyze ticks and fantastic for professionals like yourselves.

Very interesting 😎
What do you do with your finds? Do you keep them? Sell them? Donate them to a local museum?
