I'll explain the timestamps better in this comment, but also basically there's 3 ways how this scene can go - Gale either seeking redemption, getting the crown to himself or being somewhere in between there. The scene looks how you have interacted with Gale before and if you supported him to get the crown or not, and then choose some responses based off that. I have put clothes on the characters to represent that - violet shirt on Gale, long sleeved black shirt on my character for forgetting the crown, black and brown vest for Gale and sleeveless shirt for my character for pursuing the crown so it's visible in the footage. I tried to cut out most of the footage that repeats the same dialogue, especially when you agree with him.
-- When you leave the cmap after talking to Elminster
0:00 DIscussion before going to see Mystra
-- The full scene with Gale aiming to be redeemed and forgiven
2:24 Talking to Gale at the statue and asking him to seek forgiveness
4:57 Gale asks forgiveness from Mystra
8:22 Gale wants to redeem himself
10:10 Redemption path alternative dialogue options
    13:13 Romance specific question
-- Trying to tell Gale to get the crown
13:58 Gale decides to go in neutrally
    14:41 Neutral meeting with Mystra
16:13 Gale wants to pursue the crown
    17:38 Alternative dialogue options
-- Full on support Gale getting the crown himself
20:06 Gale wants to make Mystra squirm
20:49 Gale refuses to help Mystra (dialogue after is the same as 16:13)
22:42 Gale doesn't want to seek forgiveness
    -- More neutral options
23:05 Telling Gale to not give anything away
23:53 Gale's not sure wether to seek Mysra's forgiveness
25:22 Telling Gale not to go
26:35 Alternative options before seeing her
27:50 Friends only - sod redemption dialogue options
Hopefully I didn't miss anything because this was so difficult to record and edit.

Do you happen to remember how you got him to respond neutrally to asking for mystra's forgiveness? Its the clip at 22:44. He keeps responding like this in my save and I'm not sure where I had an option previous to it that encouraged him to take the crown. From what I remember I always turned him away from it.

@@agnivediccI only had to talked him in the boat scene and supported him fully to take the crown. Maybe if you kissed him in the wrong time it understood it as support for getting the crown? I'm not sure what would cause it.

@@agnivediccHello! I'm having the same problem, Tav refused to give him the book twice in the dialog before, but somehow he still thinks Tav wants him to persue the Crown. Did you find out what triggers the neutral response? I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have fought Lorroakan before this quest. Or maybe something to do with Raphael's dialogs? I can't remember what's been said. I'm gonna have to restart act 3 to figure this out. Shit.

@@barbararosa4621 I have no idea what causes the triggers for it unfortunately. But I was finally able to get it to work before this recent patch (patch4). I didn't even have to go back and change anything, just loaded a save from right before the conversation with the book happens. I only gave him the book at the very end of the scene where he asks for it, something like "fine, here take it". And then afterwards I was able to get it to trigger. I tested it on two different saves that were unable to trigger it before and it worked for both. BUT! Before all of this I was able to trigger it on a completely different third save without even needing to refuse him the book, lol. My character gave him the book immediately and then we went to see mystra and he agreed to ask forgiveness and the neutral path played afterwards. I didn't do anything different for the saves in regards to what replies I said to Gale before going to get the book or even relating to it starting in act 2 onwards, so I couldn't even begin to guess what would let you trigger this and what doesn't.

Also in that third save he asked about using the orb CONSTANTLY before the final fight, at least three times. Where as in the other two saves he never brought up using it again after act 2. His triggers are so completely bugged half the time and it makes me sad lol. Each new playthru I do where I romance him I see new things because so much of his dialog is glitchy.

A Gale channel! :) Yesss! Thank you for uploading all these clips and dialogue options. I was so sad when his romance bugged out for me in Act 2. I agree with the other comments - I hate how his 'good' ending is basically giving Mystra everything she wants. After everything she did to him she deserves nothing >:(

I actually really like that the game doesn’t paint Mystra as this flawless altruistic supreme being but rather a being who can be just as petty, arrogant, and as power hungry as any other mortal. It’s like the game is gaslights and pushes you towards the “evil” route. I also really like how Gales story (when he’s not your origin) ends because you; ask for forgiveness and become her chosen again. However you ultimately prove that she does own you.
Do you give her the crown and end the curse. Not to please her or do the right thing, but for yourself.
Or do you use the crown and orb to become a god and risk turning into the entity that ruined you in the first place.

I find it very interesting that even the "good endings" have sacrifices as well, for all companions.

@@MUNMOMUU Fully agree, I love that even if you pick the “good” or “do the right thing” options there are still consequences to it. I think it really highlights how your choices matter in the game.

I'm not entirely sure, that being Mystras chosen means she "owns you". I always understood it more as her acknowledging the talents and skills wizards have and supporting their (magical) development.
And I guess in Gales case it would mean finally proofing himself worthy to her (even though she said he already was worthy). So more of a journey to self-acceptance for Gale ^^

@@badluck3850 I mean yes, you can say that and that’s a valid point of view and interpretation but this is how I see it. Yes, Gale did this to himself but he only did it because he thought it would please her. Mystra then went no contact w/ him or sent someone else to talk to him for her. Plus the only reason she does anything about Gale is because of the absolute and Karsus’ weave. If you remove the fact she’s a god and the fantasy world aspect Mystra just used and abused Gale to further her own goals and power, put him through the wringer just to make him beg for forgiveness and to be taken back. But again, that’s how I interpret Gale’s story and endings. I don’t think either of our views are wrong or right.

@badluck3850 being her chosen means he becomes an archwizard again. As any type of wizard, he has to do her bidding for being granted her favors, which all wizards need if they want to be wizards. That's not necessarily being owned or controlled by her, it's just a lighter version of a cleric. The unfortunate thing is that if he wants to ultimately reject her, he either needs to respec, or become a sort of dark magic wizard who I guess is a rebel.

Yeah but let's be real when we help him and support him getting the crown we are essentially advocating for him to learn absolutely no lessons in life and repeat history. He would never be able to beat Mystra as he is, even with the crown. She's on a higher level than him.

Hi. I was curious about neutral “unsure” outcome at 23:53 - Gale opens up with the same line as 9:23, but the following dialogue is different. Could you please tell me the way you reached the same dialogue conclusion as 23:53? Not sure what exactly triggers Gale’s “unsure” state :/
Edit: Just to clarify, if the dialogue choice at 23:05 is the reason for 23:53 option, could you confirm that? They're going one after another so that would make sense, but I just want to be 100 percent sure :D I wanna be copmletely sure of my path if I am to romance this man ;)

Yes, so in that save I have told Gale not to pursue the crown in the boat scene, but also told him not to tell anything to Mystra. I am not sure what he will do in the end though.

What will Gale do at the end of the game in a "not sure" choice? I don't want to grovel before Mystra, but I still want to give her the crown.

    • @selty
      @selty 11 месяцев назад +5

You ultimately have to make the choice of giving it to her or him becoming Karsus 2.0 - there's no neutrality. It just prolongs your decision.

    • @ДраконВечностистар
      @ДраконВечностистар 11 месяцев назад +3

@@selty I understand. I still want to give Mystra the crown, it's just that there aren't many moments in the game when a player's choice affects that decision. The "not sure" dialogue is triggered if you dissuade him from the crown in a romantic scene with a boat, but choose neutrality in a conversation with a statue. I want to know what kind of ending this will lead to.
