Cannot wait until you debut and review the rest of the Rossi 2025 releases; especially the Sender Free’s and Soul 92’s.
Thank you so much for sharing this day with us! I was on the edge of my seat watching you guys ripping. Incredible skills you all have, and I’m now getting some Arcade 84s instead if Exp. 86s
Man that guy Jake was flying. I don't think there was one turn he made his knees weren't on the snow lol
That's what years of race training will get you!
Jeff, thanks for the ski while I was having dinner...Send It
best part of this video is laying trenches and then blowing by ski patrol at 9:10 in the slow zone. nice work guys.
sharp eye!
Dude you were filming was cranking it over ! 😮😊
Good to see you at my home resort! Too bad you missed out on the week of snow we just received
So odd to see a skier only resort. The views are impressive and I thought the Rossi SS 102’s did ok on those fast groomers. I can also see how they would come alive in the bumps and/or trees. Good helmet cam footage, Jeff. I looked at their website for season pass prices. Hoo boy. Guess that’s how you keep the crowds manageable. 🤷🏼♂️
I can see my house from your first runs off Stein's way! 😊
Awesome!
Sunnier in Deer Valley than Vermont..
Those were some big moguls on the Sender 102... I am impressed..
I saw the Ski Instructor slowing you down;) You all look really good on the Arcade 84 but the rock hard groomers that you were on are meant for that ski...
It was turning to crud when you were on the 88s and I hate going through the woods in situations where they are just whoops..
102s did great in the Chutes..
Those were some serious bumps.. This time of the year I haven't been making it until 1.. I normally ski from 8:30-11ish.. I don't really experience the hard stuff softening up.. Later in the season I will..
I want to see your snowmobile review... Hey what mittens are you using in this video?
Great overview of what seem to be great skis! Thanks guys! What size would you recommend the Arcade 84 to a 178cm/78kg advanced skier please?
I'd go 176 in that ski based on your stats and application. Have fun!
I am looking for some cameos by Wayne Wong!
Great reviews, how would the Sender Soul compare to the old blue Rustler 10? Have the Sender 94ti and Free110, tempted to add the sender soul to the mix! Cheers Nick
Pretty close comparison. I found the Soul 102 to be lighter in the tips and stiffer in the tails while the Rustler is very consistent from end to end. This gave the Rustler a rounder feel and personality while the Soul is more angular and linear. If you're looking for a lighter and shiftier ski with good pep in the tail, I do think the Soul 102 is a crisp option.
Hi @SkiEssentials .I have a rossignol hero mt V cam and I am looking for a second pair when there is fresh snow on piste which becomes bumpy and choppy later on the day.
Also for warmer days in spring. The aim is to ski better on those conditions.
Is the arcade 88 ok for that?Have you something better to suggest?
This is right where the Arcade 88 comes in handy. You could make an argument that the wider 94 in the Sender Soul lineup is better for warmer spring days, but in my experience, those days usually start out firm, in which case the 88 with the two sheets of metal is still a better choice.
Ross zing yall
Please make a video on the Sender Free 118 :)
I think when we get some snow, that'll be a great one to get on!
Hey!
Can you compare the sender soul 102 to the 92 sender soul? Could it be a bit better into a forgiving freestyle freeride Allrounder ?
Freestyle because of the forgiving rocker, but Allrounder because also good performance at the slopes?
Thanks in forcast for your answer!
Greetings from Germany 😊
I think if there's any amount of soft snow involved here, you need to look squarely at the 102. This ski is very composed in soft and broken snow as well as on groomers, but it's no match for the torsional stiffness of the narrower ski. If you're on-piste most of the time, and are looking for some type of freestyle influence, then the narrower comes to life with better grip, energy, and rebound.
Ask Jeff what he would recommend as a replacement for the black ops 98mm. It looks like there is no twin with 98mm ish width park, bomber ski for us east coasters. The Black ops 98 ripped! Is there plans to bring it back. The limited pink super ops never made its way up to Canada! Feeling left out Rossi!
Nordica unleashed would be a very comparable ski just a bit less poppy since its camber isn’t as tall as the black ops
Super Blackops 98 is the new name for the same ski. It gets a nice new graphic for 2025. And yes, Unleashed 98 serves this purpose well here in VT. Black Crows Camox and the Head Oblivion 102 are also worth a look!
Hi, Is the sender soul 92 the same construction as the 102? Thanks Nick
No they are different. The 102 follows the 110 style with poplar wood and metal beam while the 92 has a lighter paulownia wood core and no metal.
Dude with the beard is laying trenches!
Yeah high carv ski IQ
It's amazing what a properly trained racer can do on skis. Jake's an amazing skier with what seems like endless energy.
You guys were ripping! Is just me or were there a lot of Jerrys on the slopes with you guys.
Is there an Experience you would say the Arcade 84 replaces? 82 Basalt or TI maybe??
Correct
We'll be putting out an Arcade 84 review very shortly. In my experience thus far, it feels like a more approachable 86Ti but considerably more sturdy than the Basalt versions of the Experience.
@@SkiEssentials That’s helpful! Thanks for the quick reply!
Is the experience line phased out?
Correct
Yes but there are many similarities here, especially in the shape of the outgoing 86 to the new 84.
Your thoughts on Arcade 88 vs Blizzard Anomaly 88??
We have the full Arcade 88 review coming out and we discuss that comparison. Jeff thinks they're more alike than I do. I find the Anomaly 88 to be considerably more versatile and all-mountain oriented while the Arcade is more of a traditional carver. Anomaly still carves great, but doesn't have the same tip to tail edge contact and smoothness of the Rossignol. If I were to choose one for an all-mountain every day option, I'd personally take the Blizzard--I loved that ski this year.
@@SkiEssentials Thank You! 🙏
Busted, for riding without the ski chair bar down...
It's weird because here in VT, it's a state law so we put the bar down 100% of the time. In other places, the culture says differently, and it is very interesting to see how others do it. I'm honestly not terribly comfortable on the chair with the bar up.
@@SkiEssentials I get slightly uncomfortable just watching you guys on the chair with the bar up! Brings back memories of being 70ft up on a lift at Kirkwood with no bar available and a backpack on. I was clutching the chair like my life depended on it!
What’s the helmets name the dude with the beard is using? Looks sick
Rossignol
Which exact model name please?
Rossignol Helmet.
@@SkiEssentials Thanks. I had that figured out already by the logo on the helmet. But I cannot find the exact helmet anywhere. Not on your wbsite, not on the Rossi Website, not even when searching google for pic. Can you please paste a link or at least hint me the exact name of the model please?
Those are chutes?? So glad I moved to BC. Our chutes look like the inside nostrils of Darrel Strawberry after a bender in the 90's . Steep, fast, and waaaaaaay fucking bigger than anything east coast LOL.
Interesting simile!
Great job Jeff. But why are their always dudes and hardly see the women of skiesentials testing?
This trip is more of an isolated experience versus a more encompassing review that we can do at home. Here in Stowe, it's a lot easier to get our SkiEssentials ladies out and skiing with us to take part in the filming and testing process. The Ski Test and individual reviews are where you'll see more women's specific content.
The difference between the Arcade 84 and 88 sounds similar to the Kanjo/Kendo, no ?
I think that's a good way of thinking about it--a build and a shape up!
Is the Black Ops 98 gone?
Gone
There is now a Super Black Ops with a new graphic. Same ski.
Is It pink?
Sad. Loved the purebred blackops line. Wanted them to release one in 108 sooooo bad. Maybe it freaked the Dads out
So these skis are only good at Mach Schnell.
I wouldn't say "only" good, but they do have a high speed limit.
Where was Bob?!
Holding down the fort here in Stowe! Can't miss the kids hockey games for anything, much less being pampered in Deer Valley!
Bringing back the Soul name feels like a premature/desperate attempt to revive the magic rossi once had. Not positive the Sender Free series is a better update to the Blackops either. After failing to release a purebred blackops 108, and generally failing on the sender series, it feels like they're just rolling dice and Sending it right off the cliff... RIP. Still wishing and hoping for the best.
We're guilty of it too, but focusing on the names can be counterproductive. We also agree that it's confusing. In a non-marketing vacuum, the new skis feel great on the feet and work awesome on snow. As much as we can convey those facts, we'll do our best.
Great video as usual.
Please go back to the original opening music.
I can't stand the latest and I've watch a lot of this seasons vids, I hate it more each time.
Love your content
Thanks for the feedback! We change up intro music each year, so you've got about 6 or 7 more months of this tune!
Bring back Soul 7
The Souls should be back in the 92 & 102
It seems like they're certainly trying to re-capture some of that Soul 7 magic.
Always found the Rossignol Soul series to be pretty boring skis. Did everything ok, but nothing really well.
We had a great time on the new 102 these past few weeks. Good energy out of the tail and a floaty tip. Definitely different than the old Soul series.
