    We cannot make our mind about the genius of Karlowitz with this serenade. In agreement with the laws of the genre, it is a rather light and optimistic music. The postromantic soul of Karlowitz cannot be retrieved here. What we can find here however is the immense musical skill of the composer. This sereande is a gem.

    Karlowitz was a young and very gifted Polish postromantic composer, who died prematurely in an avalanche in the Tatras moiuntains. His music is often very serious and addresses some themes as love, death, rebirth, immortality, fate. He could have had an eminent place in the Polish music and in the postromantic music in general. Here, by exception, we have a lighter Serenade. But Karlowitz is not naive enough to abndon his solid style and this Serenade is wonderfully written.

    Unexpectedly good. I love Karlowicz' great series of six symphonic poems. I had always disregarded his earliest pieces. This is masterful. Great composer!

    This was perfectly lovely. I was not familiar with this composer. I researched him and found he was killed in an avalanche skiing. Lovely music reminiscent of Tchaikowsky and Wagner, yet uniquely Karlowicz. Thank you for enlightening me to new music. BRIAN

    This is a really nice piece. I have to admit I'd not heard of Karlowicz before, as I was looking for 'Serenade for Strings by Elgar. Karlowicz (based on hearing this work) sounds like a cross between Elgar and Dvorak. Incidentally Dvorak also composed a 'Serenade for Strings'...as indeed did several other composers.

    One of those polish bohemians crazed about newly discovered by themTatra Mountains.The Mountains eventually killed this young talent,alas. What I find disappointing in the ouvre presented here is the lack of reference to the most original, vigorous and melodic folk music of the Tatra mountaineers. Clearly this polish aspiring member of Nobility regarded himself above the stringing of melodies by a lowly peasantfolk. This was not so with Chopin, Szymanowski and some others and an explanation to the secret why this composer has been virtually unknown in his own country.

    • @piotrgach5073
      @piotrgach5073 4 года назад

      Unknown? C'mon...every Polish musician knows his Symphonic Poems, Songs and Violin Concerto especially. It's just 30 years after Soviet regime and we are fighting really hard to bring forgotten works into the light... Chopin and Szymanowski...everyone knows them. But, then, you have Karłowicz, Bacewicz, Lutosławski, Noskowski, Moniuszko, Paderewski, Weinberg, Laks, Penderecki, Górecki, Kilar, Moss. So many od them! All the best!

      I've never heard this music in elevator. I don’t know which country you are from. The music we most often hear in an elevator is pop music. Sometimes very famous music like Beethoven's No. 9 (arranged), Ravel's Bolero, Pictures at Exhibition, Swan Lake, etc. are played in an elevator. I guess you don't understand music at all. Nothing helps callous fools to appreciate sublime music.
      BTW, I'm almost sure you're a troll, cos I noticed your way of responding is characteristic to trolls. Repeat what you want to say in a very simple 2-3 words sentence like a moron to irritate people who have responded your post and love the music.
      I don’t think up any other reason you should post this kind of tosh at a site where music lovers exchange their opinions.
