- Everybody goes through losses, big and small - the loss of a job, the loss of a home, or even the loss of a loved one. Will you allow a loss to hold you “hostage” and limit you in your future endeavors, by focusing on regret, guilt or unresolved grief? Or will the experience of loss enable you to find a new identity or goal, re-connect with people, and enjoy life again?
In this talk, George Kohlrieser will address how you can not only get over each loss but from it draw new inspiration by rewiring your brain to “play to win”.
George Kohlrieser’s expertise and insights are drawn from his rich professional career as a clinical psychologist and hostage negotiator. He is currently a Professor of Leadership and Organizational Behavior at the IMD business school in Lausanne. He is the author of the award-winning bestseller Hostage at The Table: How Leaders Can Overcome Conflict.

His voice is shaking while advising others to change grief into inspiration. That says a lot about how hard it is to actually reach that goal .
2012 I loss my father,2015 I loss my mother, January 2019 I loss my first born my one and only baby angel maddie💔😢 I'll set them as my inspiration to continue my life with courage and spread kindness into other people even In a small deeds.

FORGIVENESS is the KEY to success
Oh man.....I’m going through a divorce. I’m losing my wife of 19 years, my house and leaving my job. It has been the worst months of my life. Pain, heartache, sleepless nights, anxiety, and fear. I am unsure where my life is going. I watched another video a few weeks back that said exactly what George said....don’t ask why, ask what?
“Why” is not important and lives is in the past. “What” is important and lives in the present. What can I do to help myself? What can I do to help others?

Great advice on how to make the best of a loss. Right now I'm using previous losses to fuel growth, and development. Accepting a loss, learning from it, and doing something about it, is the only way, or at least the best way to move from strength to strength. "I'm am an inspiring person."

As Muslims we understand being given something is only by God and He provided then only he can takeaway, understanding this gives you peace within yourself when gaining something snd especially when losing something as it belongs to our Lord anyway and if it weren't for Him then it wouldnt have been allowed to take place in the first place.
Look at the Muslim man who forgave the man who killed his son, what an extreme test we wish on nobody yet God allowed him to let it go, forgive and move on.
Nobody wants to go through loss but in such times you learn more about yourself and the Almighty than ever before. May God ease our suffering in these tough times and replace the loss with something better. Ameen. Hang in there as victory is with those who are patient.

Lost my only younger brother 38 yrs old in a rip tide 4 feb 2018 pretty beach australia...unbearable pain but after seeing this i felt gratitude.for having found him same day and were able to bury him...thankyou...

hi so sorry for seeing ur reply late... but am here now...nope he ws standing in knee deep water wasnt a surfer or a gd swimmer..he drove 3 hours to pretty beach unpatrolled beach with not much people around...just a friend.australia rules are u cant ask much unless you are a partner..i was only a sister so no one helped me understand what exactly happened... he was my life,light,hope.everything...now i pick up the pieces as i am left alone in this world to deal with his n our parents loss.

We lost my wonderful dad Thanksgiving 2020 it hurts soo bad!! My mom lost her best friend and husband of 51 years. I wish I knew how to make this pain stop for us :(
Lost my dad January 2021, thanksgiving was the first one my dad didn’t eat couldn’t eat and didn’t leave bed to come to the table. My mom and I lost our best friend as well.. you’re not alone. I love you... let us be grateful for the time we got with their beautiful souls

My goodness I lost my beloved in September 1 ,then my brother November 18, 2 months later I'm jus coping with the lost of my beloved and now my beloved .brother jus when I was just about functioning then again another loss. I really can't take no more sorrow.

It may not be similar to what he is saying but. I recently deleted a of files from my computer after a panic attack while at work. Some of those files contains photos of my trip from places that I share memories with friends that I know. It was something that I really can't belive was gone by just the push of a button after recycleing the recycle bin. But after this. I'm gonna be more calm. When I'm not going to panic. I'm going to asses the situation before what I do. And share this story with others in order to prevent this from happenning again. I hope that my story while, not as dramatic as others. Will give inspiration to those who read this comment. I hope that I can take this as a lesson that I will remember for the rest of my life. I hope that anyone don't repeat my mistake again. While I may not beable to bring back those files I can always take new ones. Thank you for reading this comment.

Made me think of dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish who lost his three daughters in a war crime. This man later founded Daughters for life, a charity present in Europe, USA and Canada that offers scholarships to young girls with high potential but in financial hardship. His goal: empowering women in unstable regions so that they can bring the positive change that could have prevent his daughters death.

At first it’s all that I could think about didn’t want to talk to anyone or leave my room I felt that I had just wasted 2 months of my life working from 4-12 6 days a week for my whole summer vacation but now I don’t look at it as taking a loss I gained something that money can’t buy and that is the value of hard work I am thankful for the job that I got i was working with high school dropouts druggies and illegal immigrants ALL GREAT PROPLE they all reallythought me a lot about life.
That was a real tough labors job and now I know that I can go through anything life throws at me I’m no longer an innocent child

When you lose a child you don't go through loss. That lost goes thru you for the rest of your life. There are different types of losses so don't lump everybody together as coming out on the other side as a better person, if you come out as a better person after you lose a child, you weren't a very good person to begin with.
