Stratosphere yeah, this feels more like his old albums, as in, more of a compilation of tracks he worked on through the year, rather than a more cohesive and realized project. It's still good though, the only thing that bothers me is how there's nothing here which I haven't listened to before.
I remember hearing this back in 2015 when some RUclips managed to leak it as an unreleased track. My god did it feel like discovering a hidden gem back in the day. In my books I say it still is quite the gem. Getting mad nostalgia from this

As a musician and producer, I'm heavily influenced by this guy. He gives great tutorials too. I relate to him, being eclectic in music he listens to. Hell, My other major influence is Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society.)
He made a video explaining how he made different songs like Forbidden Voices and The Only Way Is Up. One time he opened Sylenth1 and I paused, in the saved presets section there was a preset that translated to "deadmau5 sound kind of not"
@@azehnuuuuu1846 Deadmau5 doesnt even use sylenth1, not to defend garrix, cuz im not really into his music even but, i can kinda accept him taking inspiration out of deadmau5, but i dont see how he copied the sound

If you like the intro and the melody, you should check out "71c". This melody has been floating out there for a long time in various drafts. And while I love the "raw and dirty" sawtooth bass of this track, I love 71c for its calmness and the exposure of something that Joel is really good at - throwing together melodies of 15/16th bars length with a 16/16 beat pattern. He does it in this one, in the 71c version of course, in Tau V2, and some other tracks. I love it! :)

I understand what you're saying, I might not have use the right caliber of words. But my point still stands clear, compare the "upcoming analog melody with the beat" in FML for an example, it comes in strong and just at the right spot, for my ears atleast.
I mean at least change it the second time around, that's what he does with most of his tracks and it sounds great (examples: FML, Let Go, Right This Second, etc.) The first drop is a bit underwhelming, but the second drop is eargasmic. I'd rather him change the drop, but if he can't do that, at least have some differences from the first one.
at this point you're talking nonsense trying to criticize big room bounce trap etc. ofc there's a drop. a 5 year old child recognizes it. we're not studio producers here, we're youtube folks. this kind of drop is fairly popular in techno. see maceo plex - conjure floyd.
I really liked the intro compared to the rest of the song. Something about it is very...motivating? uplifting? Not sure but it was very intense. The rest of the song (for me) seemed very repetitive and I completely lost the feeling I felt from the beginning. Still a great song though.
The intro alone is amazing, how the volumes are being manipulated in this zen commentary. ADSR for the win, right? Filters, and listen how at 1:20 things get quiet and lovely.

This is the 1st song he put on his soundcloud for this album(excluding Glish and Deus Ex Machina cuz those are from 2014) so how haven't you heard this song before the album came out?
I love how the intro is reflective of his creative process...well the whole song is. Trying to match the perfect idea he has in his head into what it should sound like. His music has helped me understand my own issues with anxiety.
