When if first listened to EDM when I was like 13 or 14 I listened to house, and i still consider 1:14 to be a drop even today. People are just tainted by instant gratification and taking things to the extreme even if it doesn't make something better

I honestly didn't get this, or if I did I didn't realize it because I thought it wasn't funny and it couldn't have been the joke. The closest thing I can think of as a punchline would it be joking about the length of progressive house, and how long it takes to get to a specific part of the song where it hits you, when I more enjoy the genre for the interesting layers of various instruments and the lack of 'one part' of a song that I prefer above the rest, when I have 9 minutes of a song that I enjoy.
there is just no person on earth who could produce like joel. this is a fucking-6-note melody that goes on for 9 minutes with some chords after it and a beat and it is still a masterpiece. hats off,joel

Is music for composers that value the pure sound a song. No is a song about 3:40 minutes for a party.
Its one of the best artist about the electronic music.

This took the full 9-minute listen - and another - to fully appreciate the brains behind it. Yes, it's a (not so) simple melody, played out on synthetic xylophone, but it then mutates - all the while keeping it's 21-note DNA intact.

I know if you ask a lay person who only listens to rap all day long now don't get me wrong but there are some good rappers out there but if you ask if they listen to dance music before they will say yes like dubstep then you say a house producer they will call it dubstep
The fact that people identify anything deadmau5 does as "dubstep" is sad. He has stated that he does not make dubstep, in fact he hates the way dubstep has changed music, his music is progressive electronic. So no, no massive drops. No screaming bass lines. Just deadmau5's chill beats that he has always made.
Also house, which is what progressive turned into after the great EDM subgenre scuttle of 2012.

Just appreciate the greatness. This guy can create Brilliant music. Who cares about dropping the bass. This is a mixture uplifting, minimalism, progressive and more. It's not even close to an electro house bass dropping sound. Surely that is what electronic music is about, expression of styles and his is unique. Great track !!
In this age of big drop party music, why do people try to compare two songs from different genres (or in this case sub-genres)?
Comparing big room house to progressive house is trying to compare chalk to cheese, there is no comparison. But when people try to state one song is better than another without understanding different sub-genres shouldn't be making the statement. It is stupid and petty.
Deadmau5 has never been big room, he has primarily been progressive house (he has dabbled in a bit of dubstep, 'Raise Your Weapon' is a good example of that) and has kept at it to this day, so if you don't like his works then go moan about it on Twitter or your blog.

The majority of EDM fans listen to big room house. You know, the music that plays at the clubs with all the long build-ups, big sounds, and lots of bass.
So basically, the big room house fans think, that this is big room house(which is wrong). So they are disappointed about the drop.

A drop is also called the hook, a hook is basically a chorus. They just call it a drop because there is so much build up to it that when the hook kicks in it feels like a ton of miracles being dropped on your head. However, not in this song. Seriously check out his older music, WAY BETTER, like Sofi Needs a Ladder or I Remember.

Also, I've been saying his name wrong this whole time. I didn't know it was "deadmouse" I thought it was Dead Mau 5" but all squished together. It was the Mau part that through me off. If it was Deadmou5 It would have clicked. I make robots out of legos and I use numbers for appropriate letters so its not a foreign concept to me but why "Mau?"
