  • When Vevor asked if I'd like to check out their Pipe stand, I looked it over and thought it seemed really like a automotive jack, but shorter. A quick search came up with @redneckcomputergeak using his for exactly what I was thinking it could do!
Needless to say, I am pleased with the unit, and my wife is pleased that we now have that extra layer of safety when working on raised cars.

I have a 1985 K5 blazer and wanted to pull the body off the frame. My thoughts were to pull the doors, top and tailgate. Interior is gutted. I thought I could run a support under the body in front and rear and use 4 of these to raise the shell up about 4" then roll the frame out from the front. Do you think these jacks would work well in this situation? How stable are these jacks?

I would not really recommend that- The weight on that might be too much and could cause you to have a really bad day

I use scaffold adjustable bases turned upside down in mine to give me a flat plate to work off of.also this flat plate is easy to modify for special or custom projects and come in sets of 4 for usually less that $100. Cant believe they dont sell em like this anyway. 1 1/4" EMT will fit perfectly in my pipestands and threaded scaffold base fits perfectly into EMT. Just this wknd I cut a 10ft EMT in half, and put in jacks with scaffold base to reach up and support metal carport while I walked on it to repair and paint front of house
    Hope this helps someone

Is the bottom rod just held in with the friction of the bottom set screw?

No, the giant washer is angled to gab the base of the shaft to wedge it onto place. The set screw is just that. It's for presetting the height. The more pressure you put on it, the more the washer jams the shaft into place.
