Very professional way. I have installed a small fire pipeline system in my building of 2 floors, riser pipe. I want to check the pressure test in the pipelines before false ceiling. Can I pressure test with a hand operated pump ?
In the philippines, For initial/internal testing you must test the system with required pressure for 24 hours duration.And if no pressure drop after 24 hours thats the time you call for the inspector to witness and observe another 2 hours. Sometimes the allowable pressure drop is +-2 psi with no visible leaks.

The valve must be closed before removing the end plug thats the proper practice. Considering the pipe system is pressurized .What you are doing is not safe.
The procedure to loosen the GI End cap that way in the end... you say it will fire like a bullet - Yes we know.... but It is not required to do like that in the end brother.
Some people does not know about pressure, just to show them the idea. U may be experience person u have that idea but unknown will get educated from this video
