    In this video I wanted to show how making Ableton Racks with the Soundtoys Effect rack and some of its other awesome features could make a case that the Effect Rack is a better value that the full Soundtoys 5 Bundle, given the price difference

    This is a great pointer for folks on a budget. A lot of people say (after getting ST5) that they would go back and pick individual plugins. So you've got to somehow swing between the full bundle and individual plugs, and there's a lot to review in there. You could easily rack up $129 on buying the individual plugins you want, so the Rack starts to feel like a decent compromise overall if you want a handful of ST plugs. Yes there's some trade offs here (as there are with anything), but $100 is a chunk, and I'd argue you need a really good reason not to get the rack in that scenario (unless maybe you just get Soundtoys and don't spend on other plugins) I'd get Rack for $129, get MAutoPitch for $0 and put $100 into something else. I don't know if you're losing out on $100 worth of value by not having the individual plugins, and heck if anything it keeps your DAW tidy as well.

    Good stuff man! I was wondering what to get on this current sale and I’ve been eyeing sound toys stuff for a while.

      There are great sales on all their products through their website and Plugin Boutique (I think the sale ends today or tomorrow).
      If you head over to Reddit:
      www.reddit.com/r/AudioProductionDeals/
      And look up the post about Soundtoys Sale I think the affiliate link he has on there for the JRRSHOP might save you a few more bucks on top of the sale price.

    I recently bought the full Soundtoys 5.4. It includes EffectRack.
    Why did I get it over effectrack? 1. I had a plug-in budget allowing either. 2. It was during the Black Friday sale, so half off. 3. I had gotten a free Little Plate but Soundtoys had the option to trade it for a discount on the bundle. Full bundle with tax $252.
    Is your reasoning wrong to by effectrack instead? No, it is your money, your choice.

    You are right but the most annoying part with the rack is wasting time opening the rack then inserting plugins again and again. Im a logic pro user and i do a lot of mixing and effects so i feel getting the individual plugins in the bundle is a better option if you are not on a budget

      That’s why I created the preset racks in Ableton that basically function as a stand alone version for me

      +extra CPU cost, +extra screen space, +extra buzz on screen, +extra hassle. Some people find these all are ok, but these would annoying me every day if I just use effect rack. I know myself. So I can pay extra 100 bucks for my mental helalth.

    Appreciate the video. Not really hearing you make a case for using one over the other. You said you were in a situation where you couldn't use full bundle, then you showed effect rack being used a bit, but I don't think you talked to your topic at all. That is, is it a good value? Why? Better value than full bundle? Why?

    • @_justin_joe

      Thanks for the feedback. I definitely could have outlined my case better.....
      Given the price difference (at least when not on sale as it is at the time of writing this), the fact that you are only really missing a couple of plug ins in their totality (and that can be added for pretty cheap when you catch the sales) I just don't see the true benefit or urge to ever purchase the full bundle. With the added features you actually get in the Effect Rack that I outlined in the video I can honestly say unless there was some crazy cheap upgrade path I have never even considered buying the full bundle. And this is coming from someone who suffers from GAS just as bad as anyone.
      Little Alterboy is the only one that I really have a desire for and might pick it up this time around on the sale.
      Does that make more sense for my case? 😀
      YMMV

    If you didn’t own the rack - now that Soundtoys 5 bundle and rack is on sale, would you grab the bundle or the effects rack?

    • @_justin_joe
      @_justin_joe  2 года назад +1

      Honestly I think that would depend on how badly you want the 3 plugins that are not included in the Rack. I picked up the rack a few years back for about the same price and the only plug I have really wanted is Alterboy. I just picked that one up on sale this time around for $39 so I am still saving money.

    sound great but UAD does everything, problem with all the soundtoys effects rack and all the plugins is the latency, you cant do anything live or in real time with out stupid latency, I highly recommend too NOT buy their products until they sort this out cause they claim their software is m1 compatible and I still get latency!

    • @_justin_joe
      @_justin_joe  8 месяцев назад

      I totally agree if you are doing live stuff and need little to no latency. I also have UAD and highly recommend their stuff as well for this. I use Soundtoys for mix down and sound design where latency is not an issue

      @@_justin_joe I justified soundtoys rack and im shocked, the presets are so good, I dont think I could of tweaks anything like this on my own, at least not less then an hour or two, they laid out presets that are a good start for anyone
