The way that Ajax can die but can’t feel, and Wade can feel but can’t die, is one of my favorite little things in the movie that never goes addressed, and I’m so glad you touched on it here. I STILL feel like this movie missed a major opportunity by not commenting more explicitly on the genre, and it’s novelty wears for me every time I watch it. I really hope the sequel hits more of those notes for me.
I wouldn’t really count on that since the sequel seems to be more interested in telling a personal Deadpool story over explicitly commenting on the genre.
The Ponderer You sound like Cap and Eric when they where bashing Thanos for an hour and a half and called it a Spoilercast. You're judging it what for what you wanted it to be instead of what it is.
0:16 - You know what you Did! 0:44 - Previously on Superhero Rewind! 23:57 - Mathazar! 28:21 - I guess the only thing it's missing is a cameo from Sam and Twitch! Ba dum Tsh! 34:32 - I thought you were going to say "Kirsten Dunst Mary Jane! 44:45 - 45:08 - Captain Logan diagrams the outta Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey! 47:43 - "I WANT TO!!!" 48:47 - You know what they say about Hindsight, Cap!
With how desensitized Cap is now to violence and given how he's looked at both Kick-Ass and this, I do wonder what he'll think of Kick-Ass 2, more so because of how a lot of that film's more gruesome elements were toned down compared to similar moments in the Kick-Ass 2 comic.
In a world where superhero movies are becoming somewhat repetitive Deadpool is a fantastic giant breath of fresh air. There's quite a few compromises to make this version of Deadpool more mainstream and likable than the comic book incarnation. But I don't think that's a problem for this movie. I'm happy and greatful they made something as close to the source material as it does. I adore Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, the action is insanely fun, and the referential 4th wall breaking is awesome! This was a wonderful review Cap! Thank you!
Movie was good fun. I personally preferred Kingsman to this as an overall movie and as far as 'R' rated Comic Book movies this doesn't come close to being as good a movie as either Blade, Blade 2 or The Crow for me - although difficult to compare as they are very different movies. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with Deadpool in Deadpool 2.
I hope the countdown is an updated best actors for comic roles since the original vid was on blip and blip is now gone. also, there are still plenty of direct to dvd dc films to review, though you could save throne of atlantis for when aquaman come out in december
I'm not gonna lie, I miss your older style for superhero rewind. I liked how you had all the different pictures. I know it must take forever to put together and without them you can release more episodes faster, but they were far more enjoyable and entertaining to watch before. Not that the content of the script is any better or worse, but I'd rather watch a video than listen to what is essentially a podcast.
Tim. Rex There was no way around it. Even if I had time to post at the same speed as I am right now, the videos were getting flagged for copyright more and more, and some were even blocked. This is the only way I can guarantee the reviews remain public. Thanks for the feedback and for listening :)
A movie that I enjoyed quite a bit, but wished it pushed the boundaries a little more, commented the genre and played around with the genre elements while sometimes subverting them. Here’s hoping the second one feels a little more confident and actually has a little more action.,
Cap the waitress at Sister Mary Margret's is named Kelly Im pretty sure as a reference to Joe Kelly considering the mercenary bar was his idea along with deep-cut joe kelly characters like Boothe are mentioned in that scene.
This movie connected with me a lot and I started reading 📖 more of Deadpool trades and single issues because of this movie I even cosplay as the character this film 🎞 had a huge impact on my life thank you for this super hero rewind
Nice video Cap. Pretty much the only one I disagree with you on is Amazing Spiderman 2 which I liked a lot and I remember you were somewhat negative on.
Near the beginning of the movie, when they're at Sister Margaret's, there was a cocktail waitress(/hooker, probably?) that Wade gives a Bl*wj*b to, who's name is Kelly. Possible Joe Kelly reference?
I think Ready Player One( both the book and the movie) also is a good love story. And i like the two leads there too and think they should be together as well. Props goes the actors and of course Ernest Cline.
It only happened because ryan reynolds made it happen, which allow open the door for a r rated wolverine, following a a r rated justice league movie and r rated batman v superman also ant man movie and ant man ans wasp not r rated. So deadpool is to star wars as wolverine is to star trek movie wise.
Hunter Beebe I have said my piece on that one. Spawn Year Day 100 is basically a revisited review. I may repost the old Rewind for the sake of completion at some point but the Spawn Year review is very contradictory to it.
I dont think the movie itself was as unique as people are saying. Deadpool the character is unique but I've seen the plot before in plenty of movies. The enemies were boring and I found myself being bored with some of the origin scenes. Wish they would have shortened some of the origin and had more present Deadpool action. Pretty good film though. Could have been great and I feel that the second movie will be better cause they dont have to include the origin story.
It sucks because the Joe Kelly run the movie is based on does EVERYTHING soo much better. Ajax was a great villain, Wade's origin was not boring in the slightest, and Deadpool had genuine tragic and heartwarming character development. Instead of trying to tell a resonating story the movie was more interested in being wacky and fun but it could of been much more. It is a miracle the movie exists though and that its even decent so I dont like ragging on it too hard.
I don’t think Wade’s kills are as bad as you’re making them out to be. He’s not gunning down and decapitating cops and soldiers, he’s killing hired thugs for human trafficking organization. Narratively, these are mostly folks who have it coming. If I were Vanessa I’d be concerned also, but he also went out of his way to save her life after Francis kidnapped her
humb marines ibarra Too many copyright flags and blocked videos. The show is essentially a podcast now. The upside is, I'm able to produce them a lot faster and post more frequently.
This is a movie that I loved the first time but has been hurt on rewatches. I just find it average while a lot of people around me think it's the greatest film of all time which just makes me hate it more. Also I've always had a hard time believing that Wade has a hard time talking to Vanessa after he becomes Deadpool.
So you're one of those annoying, obnoxious hipsters who proclaims a movie is "ruined" because other people like it and that makes it less good to you? I pray to god I never end up accidentally setting next to you in a theater. I might just deck you straight up in the face if I ever found out.
ᵗʰᵉNight★Star No not at all. Rewatching the movie is what made me not like it. It’s generic and it really drags in places. I’ll admit that I just don’t care about Deadpool. People can have any opinion they want. I’m just sick of Deadpool is all. Thanks for the heads up though, I won’t sit next to you in a theatre.
I would probably have been less interested in this if it hadn't had at least some connection to the X-Men. Deadpool have always been a part of their mythology in someway.
I thought the movie was just alright. It's not that funny really to me. ok action movie, but just alright as a timewaster for me anyway. The sequel might be better than the first if I ever see it.

Commenting on the genre isn't a necessity for this to be a good movie.
Probably because Joe Kelly made that little connection in his comic, but the movie didnt have the balls to explore the characters a bit
Random Reviewer no, but it’s what I wanted.
The Ponderer You sound like Cap and Eric when they where bashing Thanos for an hour and a half and called it a Spoilercast. You're judging it what for what you wanted it to be instead of what it is.

I don't like the idea that a superhero movie HAS to be subversive or radically different than anything we've seen before to be a good movie.
"Have fun at your midnight showing of Blade II" is my favourite joke in this
Tank Gunner I meant to mention that one. That's one my favorites, too.
Deadpool is a great movie. And currently number 5 in my top 10 comic book movies of all-time.
This film really captured the character to a tee.R rated movies are alive and well thanks to this and Logan.
A true passion project that pays off and here we are with a sequel coming out this week.

Totally listening to Angel in the Morning while watching this review.
Literally just clicked as soon as the notification popped up!! Here we go

Nightwing Josh I'm doing a Top 50 best performances video when we got the next Patreon tier.
I remmber that most shafted list. It's amazing how you've evolved since then Captian. Keep up the good worķ.

Just to point out, there's an editing error around minute 41, part of the Moriarty/extreme break from reality explanation is reapeated.
MrNice He just accidentally left in 2 different takes of the line.
Yeah, an editing error as I said.
Cap the waitress at Sister Mary Margret's is named Kelly Im pretty sure as a reference to Joe Kelly considering the mercenary bar was his idea along with deep-cut joe kelly characters like Boothe are mentioned in that scene.
"For every taco I've ever eaten," awesome.
The biggest shock, a really well done romance
I Know, right?!😉
Who else can't wait for Deadpool 2?
Fun Fact This movie is from the Writers of Zombieland which has a cameo by Bill Murray.
This movie connected with me a lot and I started reading 📖 more of Deadpool trades and single issues because of this movie I even cosplay as the character this film 🎞 had a huge impact on my life thank you for this super hero rewind

Thank you so much!! I’ve been waiting this review for so long!!!!

Possible Joe Kelly reference?
I don’t like how this movie says Deadpool already had dormant mutant genes thus making him a mutant instead of the mutate he’s always been
The most fun I've ever had in a comic book movie, hands down!
I think Ready Player One( both the book and the movie) also is a good love story. And i like the two leads there too and think they should be together as well. Props goes the actors and of course Ernest Cline.
Man Of Steel (2013) does the Flashbacks too
Romello Malone But bad.

It isn't out yet but according to the primise, Deadpool was captured in the process of doing something so ya, he isn't just sitting around.
I've been waiting for this for a long, long time!
would someone tell me what the song name in the intro is?
Celeste Backyard Super Kid by Justin Roberts
thank youuuu
Look up Danny Phantom 10 years later
Isn't negasonic technically a child. So there are not no children involved. She is a least a miner.
I thought you were referencing yourself in spawn year, before you referenced spawn himself ha.
Deadpool would be a torture chamber if I had to sit through it, but I still really enjoyed this analysis.
Why the hell ? You are Weird.
Then what the hell is wrong with you? It's a fantastic movie. Watch the fucking thing.
When will you do a Superhero Rewind Spawn?
He might do a revisited version!
When?
Who knows?!
Hunter Beebe I have said my piece on that one. Spawn Year Day 100 is basically a revisited review. I may repost the old Rewind for the sake of completion at some point but the Spawn Year review is very contradictory to it.

So the timeline changed a character with no personality (I forgot he was ever there) to a Russian Superfriends character. Huh.
You dont use images anymore?

I wish there was a scene were Deadpool kills Brett Ratner XD
*Captain Logan Deadpool*
Can we not pretend that the terms superhero and antiihero are mutually exclusive. It’s as cringy as saying antivillians can’t be supervillains.

Please stop hating on Spawn. It makes me sad.
The movie was overhyped. That being said, I didn't hate it.
