Wow! I was 14 years old in 1978, and having loved cars from an early age, the Mark Series was and still is one of my most favorite! Ford products in 2023 are of such poor quality that even the CEO has admitted that they have got to do better!! It says a lot for this beautiful piece of automotive sculpture when it is 45 years old, and with the exception of the clock, still works just like it did in 1978!! Let's see what 2023 Ford products can still do in 2068 (if there is even a single one still in existence by then)!! Thank you for all of these great finds that you keep presenting to us; proof that great original cars are still out there just waiting to be discovered!!
Long and not very space- (or fuel-) efficient, as all luxury coupes were back in the day, but what a presence and what smoothness, without any computers! Puts modern cars to shame in more ways than one.
A superb example of these highly desirable cars. Your chance of finding another with such a low milage and in superb condition Buy it whilst whilst you can.
I owned a 78 thunderbird DJE .Second owner it was a pastel beige color. It was it was very similar in options . Was a very nice car wish I still had it.
A neighbor had a '78 Mark V Bill Blass designer edition. Dark blue metallic with tan padded vinyl landeau top. Stylish car. Made my families green Dodge Dart look frumpy by comparison.🤣
Bill you get the most awesome cars in the world i am a local been here almost 20 years and you have always kept nothing but the best on your lot at Competition Cars
It's amazing how many old beat up Fords have factory cruise that still works. We had a 79' F250 that was a former AC service truck and became a farm truck and it was on the property for years and we had to drive it into town illegally one day to get tires, it was beat to hell and got it up to 50 and decided to try to cruise control and worked perfectly... lol This was in 2005..
@@christianbugatticg Lol.. And one day I'm gonna get you on the right step regarding Ford door stricker bushings... lol You're just not into it for some reason but it's hard for me to hear those doors clacking when they're opened... It's such a cheap easy fix too...
@@christianbugatticg You do so much to make those things close to perfect and I consider that an easy fix.. You need to try it couple times and see how you like it.. When you grab that door handle and open it and it doesn't clack and it's smooth and quiet and the door shuts tighter and seals better I think you'll fall in love.. :)
Nice you guys have some good taste imo in the used cars! I also accidentally hit the off buttons on my Focus and shut the cruise off. First time I done that I thought my cruise quit working lol.
Thank you, I did figure out how the cruise worked. Steering wheel might be off a hair but the car does not pull. Maybe a quick trip to the alignment shop would take care of that.
Hey Kevin! This DJ Mark V is already committed to go up for auction on Bring a Trailer online auction site. Should start in a few days or so I suspect! I would very seriously like to plan a vacation from where I live in lower west Michigan just to visit your lot. I don't know much about car auctions except going to them in the 80s when I was young and someone in my family was building a small vintage car collection. I got to learn to drive and experience several cars ranging from 1920s - late 60s. Now its MY time to consider my own dreams. Just took my 1st leap into a luxury car with a 2011 Cadillac SRX. I also have a 97 Cougar XR7 that I'm trying to decide if I want to fully restore and keep or sell as it is ( needs a bit of rust repair and some paint ). Do you always have these late 70s luxury land yachts on your lot or is it hit and miss ?
Hey good morning!! That would be awesome! Being that I am in a tourist town, here frequently people on vacation will sneak away from the beach to pay me a visit. Such a humbling thing because I am just some car guy living my passion. It's nice to know others love what I do too!! You come by anytime!! I always have these cars on my lot. I sell late model stuff too, but most of my inventory now are the classics!! And be careful with that Cougar and rust. Expensive to restore and limited parts, so unless this one has sentimental value it would be cheaper to just go find a nice original one!! Talk soon!
I have always loved the Lincolns up to 1980. But I find it interesting that most clocks in used cars that are mechanical and not electronic do not work. What is that? The first thing I look for in a used car is to see if the clock works. It says a lot about the upkeep.

This car is certainly a beautiful car. The problem with these cars from the late 70s in America is these are truly boats. They are very unsafe.. if you attempt to stop on a downhill angle at a red light, because these cars don’t have antilock brakes and if you put those brakes on too hard, you’re going to slide right through the red light or right into the car in front of you. I say again it’s a beautiful car but I have found driving those cars to be a pretty bad experience. You’re not connected with the Roeding anyway because you’re floating on air basically they don’t handle well very pretty to look at though.
Give me a brake man.I heard for years that the Lincoln Diamond Jubilee has a real diamond in the window. I was simply repeating what I thought was to be true. So maybe it's an old wive's tale. And after I point out every flaw on every car I sell, I lose credibility over a misspeak?? I will def correct my statement in another video, but intentional misleading is NOT my style. Very sorry for the mistake. Thanks!
