    Amanda, this video is speaking to my soul! I am in the exact same boat! The amount of inventory just sitting around was beginning to feel suffocating! This January, my goal is to clear/list my entire death pile by the end of the month! It’s a very bold goal, but I’ve already made so much progress and have surprised myself everyday at what I’m capable of! Please continue doing this series so we can encourage you on your journey and see those death piles disappear! Best of luck to you, - Hope

    No death pile here. I list 25 items 7 days a week . Decided in 2018 I wouldn’t source one item from a store if I had anything not listed . Paid off my credit cards in 2021 and paid off home last Oct .
    The contributing factors in being debt free was not buying just to buy or because sourcing is fun . If it’s not listed , you’re losing money .
    Good luck on your journey !

      Thank you! I wont ever put in 7 days a work week as I have a family and this is just a job. Thankfully we dont have too much debt outside of our home. Cars are paid off and so is our giant construction project. But now I am working towards cash flow for my insane new driveway I want. We will get there!

    Yes! I’m here for it. My basement, where I keep all my inventory, is a hot mess with unlisted items. I debated on a no thrift month, but I like your reward method much better for motivation!

      You got this! I just dont want to resent the pile by taking away my joy. And honestly I just hit my first $500 but I dont even want to thrift yet until my dining area is clear. Huge win for me to even feel that way. I think I shall do a BST trip next week so offload, reward, and maybe have just a FEW pieces to come home with.

    OMGOODNESS Girl we can be FRIENDS!!!! 😊 I’m right there with you. My side hustle is reselling, thrift flipping, crafting it has taken over our home the past couple years. We bought the house next door just to convert it into my Craft Cottage and house all the inventory. I started a series here on my YT channel called “Confessions of a tired house” just to reclaim our house, declutter, and make progress on getting my business next door and the death piles dealt with and organized.
    SO EXCITED to watch your journey and cheer you on. ❤

    You’re so brave to post this! I started reselling more seriously a year ago (sourcing and selling not just selling my/friends things), and I could so easily see how this could happen. This is more of a money making hobby for me and of course the sourcing part is the most fun part. Your video inspired me to be very intentional with my own death pile and boundaried in what I will allow myself to do before it’s gone. So thank you!

    You are definitely not alone! Before we moved out of our house in 2022, this was exactly what my basement had become. I wish I could say I got it all listed, but that did not happen at all. It took four yard sales and lots of trips to BST stores - but we were on a time crunch and it had to be done. Even with that being said, I still have probably 10 totes of a rotating death pile in my storage unit that never seems to get reduced. It's been my goal to list as much as possible, without sourcing and so far I've been doing okay. I need to implement a reward schedule like yours to help keep me motivated!

      Yes friend do NOT follow my steps. Unboxings are amazing but if I could give you one bit of advice - LIST THEM ASAP! Not only do your viewers want to go buy said items, many of which I never listed, but then you can hold yourself accountable like my friend Rachel and do 90 day updates. You cant do an update if the crap never got listed. AND you have a full time job!! Truly I think that means you have more of your life together as far as time management than I do. I havent had a 9-5 in 13 years at this point. But I am going to do it. Thanks for the support!!

    Amanda, I'm so thankful for you and I'm thankful for this "death pile diaries" series! I'm sorry in advance if I'm long-winded, but there aren't many people out there who understand the struggle! Haha! I started seriously reselling in 2021, and I quickly became the girl people would go to when they had bags and bags of clothes to get rid of. I would buy their stuff off of them, they would tell their friends, and pretty soon I became the proverbial "dumping ground" for people getting rid of stuff. As a perpetual people pleaser, I had a hard time saying no, because I didn't want to lose their "business". But now here I am, (finally saying no), but stuck with 35+ bins of "neatly" stacked inventory in my basement. It's overwhelming and would take years to list it all myself. I have a hard time letting go of it because I know I will make the most money if I do list it myself. But something's gotta give! So if you have any advice for clearing out inventory to make things more manageable I'm all ears! After watching your ThredUP videos I don't really want to send my stuff there because I feel like they rob you. Are there any other online consignment places?

    • @ericafaulhaber9485
      @ericafaulhaber9485 3 месяца назад

      Me again! I was so excited I commented before watching the whole video! Ok, so I roughly counted 38 ish bins while you were giving your tour and that's pretty much exactly the amount I have too. I feel sooooo seen. And as you made this video several months ago I'm sure you've made great progress, but if not, just know you're not alone!

    • @AmandaPruitt
      @AmandaPruitt  3 месяца назад

      Hi! I am thankful to not be alone and I wish I could report significant progress. I CAN report a significant change in sourcing - I have gone to the bins once a month since I recorded this and am VERY picky. It is summer and I underestimated the attention my kids still need though they are 9/11/13 and I love spending the time with them. Once school is back I will be on a ZERO sourcing until I list bins strategy. Meaning for each bin I 100% list/donate/whatever, i can source 10 items. For me - I have been offloading a lot to Style Encore, Plato's & Clothes Mentor. I know not everyone has those. I average around $3-4 per piece back in cash. I am a rewards minded person so maybe you are too. Maybe for every 20 items you list you can get a ____. Iced coffee, taco, whatever is something cheapish that you love!

I now work out of my kitchen and my dining room has several totes of inventory to list. I am also working on getting the death/money "mountain" listed or purged. Like you said, some of it isn't even worth my time to list.

    Kudos to you for such a vulnerable video. As a RUclips unboxer, I 100% understand feeling the need to buy more just for content. I don't have a death pile, it's more like a "queue" - it moves along and I don't have anything sitting longer than everything else. But when it's more than three or four days worth of work sitting in front of me I get super anxious and overwhelmed. You do have a lot of stuff to get through BUT I think if you just sort through it, and hunker down to get the work done, it won't take you as long as you think, especially if you purge out some stuff not worth your time. I batch work and can process 200 items a week if I really need to. I'm sure you can too! I am rooting for you and I am excited to see your progress updates!

    My death pile is worse than yours, so I appreciate your transparency and knowing I’m not alone. Sourcing is the fun part, but I was sourcing like a full time reseller, and then would be too tired to list it all, and then the weekend would come or a ThredUP box would arrive and boom…more stuff. I even bit the bullet and purchased a climate controlled storage unit. It felt amazing to just get stuff out of the house, but realistically it doesn’t make sense to keep paying monthly fees on inventory without a great game plan. @@AmandaPruitt yep, I totally agree with all of that. The goal is not to spend even more money to store the items that we bought. And if I’m being completely honest, there’s a good chunk of items that will probably end up getting re-donated because when you first start out you see the “value” in many items, but the longer you actually resell the more picky you become. Now it’s about setting challenging but realistic mini-goals to dig out. I’m with you, I don’t think that I’ll ever be the type of Reseller that has one bin of unlisted items. But it needs to be less than 35 lol. 😉

      Thank you for sharing!! I’m super committed and the more I clean out and get it organized I see how much MONEY I have sitting here. I’m a good picker. I know this. I have thousands of dollars literally at my house in the form of tubs. I’m super close to my first $500 and I’m excited simply to leave my house not so much thrift. But I think it’s also going to really help with what I’m bringing home as to not add to the mess. 🤞

    I think this is a great idea to keep you on track. Just pick one of your totes for a RUclips video and then process it fully. That way you gain a video to post and it requires you to photo and list it. The trick is to set aside a specific amount of time per day or week just like you were working for someone else. I have learned this as a professional artist. The hardest part for me is to just start something. Once I get going on it, I can stick with it easily. I have had my Ebay stores shut down since September as we moved from Colorado to Washington. I have seriously had some withdrawal from shopping, lol. Plus the lack of steady extra income has been missed. I am closing next week on another house so looking forward to unpacking my Ebay boxes and get everything sorted and relisted. Just as a side bit of info I did realize that I could actually sell a lot of inventory through Facebook Marketplace. Items I would have never considered before and yes no fees and no shipping.... so it was a win win. I will focus on selling more items using free sources such as that. ps. Don't be hard on yourself. As a woman nowadays you are juggling many hats and it takes time to process items to sell. We will all be with you every step of the way!

    You are not alone. just in the house i have over 40 totes and i have 3 big campers (36-38') in my backyard full. 1 is filled with my helicopter parts buyout when the airpark got sold and the new owners were only doing planes and no helicopter stuff so i got a good deal there. plus i have 2 big sheds full of my bigger items. i did get a pallet 2 weeks ago and i have another pallet of car parts showing up hopefully tomorrow depending on weather. i had a third pallet coming but they just gave me my money back, it disappeared when they went to ship it, they couldn't find it so it probably got mixed in with one of the big bundle lots they had going on by accident. so your dealth pile is considered small in my eyes but yes bigger than some i seen but you are young yet. after you have been doing it for forty years, then take a look. i was doing some cleaning the other day and ran into a few things i don't remember buying. i even ran into an old mattel handheld game that i was known to flip those in high school back in the early 80's. couldn't believe i still had one of them left unless it was something i brought later and don't remember?

    Not a death or money pile per se but have just found out that our 3rd cross country move since 2021 will be happening between "April and June" I just did on Nov 4 an estate sale cleanout of 40 plus boxes of books which after culling and sorting we had almost 400 to list Donated so so so many which was great but need to get those done and inventory and remove old listings of books that will be donated before the move I also have the remnants of a large large sheet music haul that was free to finish sorting and collating before the move on top of all the regular stuff lol I will be watching for encouragement right now we are below negative temps so being in the basement is not conducive to life lol
