    Crazy idea using shuttle buses.The local bus will take you up to the North Shore for $5.50 return.!!!Sure it takes longer but you are on vacation!!

      I'd agree...it definitely takes longer. It depends how long your vacation is too and who is in your party. For some who are on a shorter vacation time schedule (4-5 days), a direct route might work better especially if you're going on a Sunday with the bus timetables more spaced apart.
      Or if you'd prefer not to drive a rental car and are traveling with kiddos, probably easier to take a direct option. For me, I'd prefer spending time exploring instead of in transit (about 2 hours with 2 buses transfers) to save a bit. But, if you've got the luxury of time and it works for you, it might be worth it to take the city bus.

      @@YestoHawaii We are coming to Hawaii from Australia in August.I think the local bus system is great, used it plenty of times before.More money to spent in Ala Moana shopping centre.

      Well, my vacation time is valuable. I don't want to spend it waiting -- just getting to Hawaii takes the entire day.

    Every-time i visit oahu i just rent a car from the airport and tour the whole island which can be done in one day - been to all the places u mentioned and more… wanted to buy a home there but the good ones were $1million and up

      True! Property is so expensive here..

    The website for Blue Wave Tours is difficult to navigate. Also there isn’t a Haleiwa shuttle listed. It would be easier and far less expensive to take the public bus, and it can be done in 2 hours for $5.50.

      Try the link in the description instead of the Blue Wave Tours site. There's a direct link to each shuttle. And yep, there's lots of options to get to the North Shore! You can definitely take the city bus (TheBus), a rental car, or taxi/Uber/Lyft to get to the North Shore. Thebus.org is a great resource and there are timetables but keep in mind time of day and days you go. Sundays, for example, have less frequency than Mon-Fri. North Shore is one of my favorite areas of the island and worth the trip 🌊

      Click on the link in the description box (or this link for all Oahu activities: shrsl.com/307e5). In the shopping cart, type "Yes2Hawaii" as your coupon code for the 5% off. It works for most of the activities but not all of them. Hope it helps! 😊

    how about the other islands? if we're travelling in Maui and the Big Island and we'd like to explore them when the cruise ship docks on these places, are there other transpo options other than uber and renting a car? thank you so much for your time in replying back to me.

    • @heathercole7564
      @heathercole7564 2 года назад +2

      Maui has the local buses that run regularly for $2.50 to Lahaina, from close to where ship docks.Why spend $100 on Uber?

    • @YestoHawaii
      @YestoHawaii  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely! With the cruise ships, you can also get a shuttle directly from the cruise ship for Maui or Big Island. If you're 2 or 4 people, might work to split one with another party. I've never seen Uber from Kahului to Lahaina as high as $100 as the commenter above listed but perhaps it was due to surge pricing or an Uber XL. I'd say $60ish is prob closer to normal. If you're in Maui overnight, a rental car might be a great option to explore to central Maui (Haleakala) or east Maui (road to Hana). Maui is GORGEOUS and there is so much to see there. Same goes for Big Island. The Kona port is right in the center of Kona - you can take a tender to the shoreline and just walk around too. But, if you'd like to explore more, you can do a shore excursion with your cruise ship too. Hilo is the side for volcanoes if that's a must-see on your list 😊
